I have no problem with Kano state arresting beggars on the street.

Can't the Kano government treat those beggars like repentant Boko Haram members?

cool, but are they repentant yet?

Put them in schools, give their parents jobs and tax them.

Don’t encourage nomadic living.

But if they are arrested down south, you will lead the huge outcry. Do we have two sets of laws and citizens in Nigeria?

How many bandits have been arrested? They prefer the beggars to switch profession and become bandits and kidnappers instead.

Great, I think North is waking up to reality.
God bless this commissioner.
Lagos and other SW states should follow with immediate effect.
Barbarian life style must end now.

I wonder why the Southern States allow beggers to roam freely - later they will claim that beggars have been planted by Fulani to wreak havoc at the appointed time

Arresting beggars when it is like the compulsory NYSC over there in the North is not a welcome idea......they should come up with something that looks like begging coz those people has added begging to their culture!

One red cent of mine will never fall in the palms of a beggar. Giving encourages begging.

1) I donate to charity.

2) I give tips to genuine hustlers. Northerner that was hawking weaved basket. After negotiating to N500, I paid him N750

Poor guy was carrying all that load around town in the hot sun.

Traffickers/Cartels will even force hawking. That seems to be more of an Asian problem, but we need to be careful.

Beware, and learn the signs:

Operation Epervier II sees hundreds rescued from human traffickers

LYON, France – Almost 220 victims of human trafficking have been rescued by police in Benin and Nigeria in an operation coordinated by INTERPOL.

Many of the 157 rescued minors were moved around as ‘merchandise’ themselves across the border, and made to work in markets all day, peddling goods, fetching water, cooking, carrying heavy loads, or working as housemaids.

https://www.interpol.int/es/Noticias-y-acontecimientos/Noticias/2019/Human-trafficking-hundreds-rescued-in-West-Africa

Victims tend to…

Avoid eye contact
Lack health care and appear malnourished
Are not allowed or able to speak for themselves

Exhibit signs of physical and psychological trauma e.g. anxiety, lack of memory of recent events, bruising, untreated conditions

No wonder they follow Trailers to the west in hundreds
They are in their thousands presently in Ibadan.

If the Oyo state government should do this, they will term it to tribalistic.

I tire for this country.

If they ban their beggars ...next thing they are on trailers..their destination??...your guess is as good as mine..
Shebi every Nigerian has right to live and do business anywhere
Yes o. Everyone knows the next destination is Lagos. Whenever anything constituting nuisance or lawlessness is banned in any of the Northern states, they board the next available truck to the Western part of Nigeria. A good example is Okada riders!

Notice how the bandits and terrorists are periodically pampered with luxury vehicles, cash and amnesty programmes. The body language is clear....
