No, you won't lose ur data. I updated mine without any SDcard.

There's no malfunction, if it phone is rooted make sure u un-root it b4 u update.

I meant if u rooted ur phone. Obviously u didn't as ur phone is still new. Go ahead and update. Nothing wrong
