There is no such thing as monopolistic capitalist, Capatilism is capitalism everywhere in the world. Imagine individuals throwing a sitting POTUS out of social media sphere as if its nothing, so the flaws of capitalism still remains. Now in the case of Dangote, nobody gave him preferential treatment atleast we all know he's not the only northern business man around. what made the whole situation looks like a monopoly for Dangote is that, at a time where people like Olawuyo and Ibetto were importing cement to be re-bagged in Nigeria, Dangote initially too was importing but he later saw beyond them and took the risk of trying to start an indegenious cement production factory and by soo doing he pushed Ibeto and Olawuyo out of business, the gov't had to support Dangote because he saves them huge amount of forex annually. Now about the oil industry, Otedola nd others have being importing PMS for ages, FEDGOV gave over 60 licenses for refinaries to ingenious investors since 2013, yet none of then did nothing, Dangote again with his balls took the initiative to invest in oil refining liquidating a lot of his companies, taking loans, selling more of his cement companies in shares to source for fund for this project. Now tell me where is the monopoly
A lot of Nigerians prefer to stack their funds abroad buying properties all over the world and living large rather than to invest in their country. If anybody today starts to produce in Nigeria, success is a sure for him.
thank you thank you. Tell them o

Nigerian youths are pushing Nigeria deeper into recession by storing money that should be circulating in the economy as virtual currencies somewhere in the internet instead of investing in the production process no matter how small.

When I now become a billionaire in future after making the right moves in the manufacturing industry they'll now shout "monopoly".

Manufacturers are still the richest people, anywhere in the world. To be regarded as a wealthy person, one must own the means of production . To help your economy, you must create wealth through production.

Jeff Bezos (Amazon) , Elon Musk (Tesla) , Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook) etc though regarded as tech billionaires still produce goods or services which gives worth to their stocks depending on how they perform in the market.

Quiet!!!

Agriculture can also bail Nigeria out of recession.

End terrorism by the fulani herdsmen and give the farmer a peaceful environment to grow crops things will improve in Nigeria.

A wise man will put as much distance between himself and a Petroleum Product Refinery which discharges toxic wastes. A blowout accident is also a possibility.

Exactly. They will use this to LOOT, DIVERT AND SYPHONE the economy dry. Over the years, Buhari and the North has been looking for what to use in stealing the Crude Oil from the Biafran Territory not seen until this idea came.

Don't be surprise what will happen soon in conjunction with the IMF useless policy to kill Africa. They will buy or Steal Crude, refine and sale at a very high cost without anything to balance the trade.

Since I noticed the hatred and wickedness in Dangote life - I DECIDED NOT TO ASSOCIATE WITH HIM & HIS OCULTIC BUSINESS of Kill & eat.

This is a planned scheme to divert FUNDS MEANT FOR ALL NIGERIANS. We know their style - we are 7 steps ahead of them. Stealing in higher rate loading and APC will not spare any step. That is why Thief Tinubu is trying to do everything possible to lead the Corruption Toilet Government come 2023. But the God that did not allow the Covid-19 to kill us, MUST surely Show us 7doors to escape. Shalom!!!!

Bro, I neither have the strength nor the time to give you an all encompassing rebuttal to your post. Just to let you know, I’m not against Dangote investment, it is worthy of emulation. I was just pointing out the ill of such monopoly to a poor country like Nigeria. US has a very robust and rich economy with political and economic institutions built on US value system. Using instruments of such institutions, anyone can be summoned and also under the law. Carlos slim bought the whole Mexican telecommunications and was preferentially protected by the Mexican amparo system...he had franchises in the US and file for same protection in the US but lost because of the different institutions in both countries

Nigeria should stop relying on Petro dollar if she doesn't want to be going and coming out of recession everytime, there are so many areas /sectors in the economy that can generate enough foreign exchange for the country which the federal government is not exploring. Sectors like agriculture, tourism and mining can generate so much foreign exchange if adequately taken care off.

Most importantly the country should stop importing and start producing so that there won't be so much pressure on the naira.

the ppl to execute are nigerians not "leaders". mining workers sleeping on duty or playing with phone on duty/ giving excuses, nigerians taking advantage of tourists or using them for rituals, herdsmen attack farmers etc. for the country to progress, it is nigerians that must change their ways, culture and mentality - the "leaders" can only guide - its eventually up to the people.

Nigeria was designed to favour a region and that's all. As long as you have both north and south apologist in the oil sector we won't go forward in that sector. As evident by the location of Kaduna refiner, the northern elements want the oil in the ND to benefit them according to how they planned out Nigeria but there is a resistance from the southerners within and the north will rather destroy the public oil assets then allow a private northerner to come and finish the job smoothly. Dangote is that northerner.

The challenge with a monopolistic capitalist like Dangote in a poor country like Nigeria is that the country will be at his mercy when critical economic structures are under his umbrella. He technically becomes above the law in many regards knowing that a squabble or friction with Dangote will spell economic doom for the government of the day..in that regard, he enjoys special economic privileges among his contemporaries or within the business sphere. Typical example is Carlos slim of Mexico

On the other hand, in a rich countries like the US, UK etc....There’s an almost equal level playing ground and government subsidies cut across all players in the business sphere. Most importantly, the players are not above the law and could be summoned at any point they find deviation or sabotage to national interest like they summoned bill gate some years back, mark zuck recently and many more.
While everything you have said is correct, we need to start somewhere. If the Dangote refinery succeeds, there will be massive knock on effects for other sectors like agric and industry. As the wider economy grows the impacts of his monopoly will slowly start to fade. Right now half bread is better than none.

Agriculture's Bane= Herdsmen
Tourism's Bane= Insecurity
Mining's Bane= Boko Haram/ Government

Either ways there is a bane to every sector

How Dangote restored ANAMMCO, created jobs in South-East

The Anambra Motor Manufacturing Company Limited has returned to full operation, thanks to the Dangote Group. That was the takeaway from a recent tour of the massive auto assembly plant at Emene Industrial Layout near Enugu by some motoring journalists including our correspondent.

About 90 per cent of trucks produced here are for Dangote. Right now at the dump, we have about 300 units. Since last year, we have done 800 units. Dangote Group since inception has bought about 3,500 units from us. It also patronises the Shackman trucks for its refinery currently being built in Lagos,” Nneji said.

https://punchng.com/how-dangote-restored-anammco-created-jobs-in-south-east/

Dangote alone revived the moribund and decayed ANNAMCO in Enugu when he invested N63 billion in the South East with the purchase of over 3,500 trucks.

He not only saved and revived ANNAMCO, he created jobs and expand Enugu's IGR base.

......but of course, Dangote is the man a lot of misguided bigots, sad and negative people and misguided trolls love to hate.

Who benefits from Dangote refinery, fertilizer plant and petrochemical plants?

Nigeria, you and hundreds of thousands of Nigeria set to start collecting paychecks to put food on the table, pay school fees, pay rent and so on including many Nigerians from where ever state or village you are from.

State and federal IGR generated from this massive complex is going to fund roads, bridges, hospital, schools and generally improve your quality of life.

900 young Nigerian engineers regardless of ethnicity or tribe are currently abroad or already returned from different universities abroad to learn refinery engineering and operations free of charge, curtesy of Dangote.

Why many of you allow yourself to be shortsighted and narrow minded because of hatred, bitterness and tribalism baffles me.

No this today that petroleum is a country life's blood. That's what its called.

You know why because it powers other sector you name (agriculture, mining, tourism).

This anticipated refinery will work because its non governmental. No looting will be involved.

Dangote is like the Elon Musk of Nigeria.

Always investing his ideas.

He's into Agriculture, Manufacturing, oil and gas and so much more.

This is what we want in this country.
Production!!!

American government supports Elon Musk to land capital projects in the country why won't Nigerian government do that to Dangote.

You can't even get any Land very close to the refinery. Meanwhile Dangote will not be stupid to build an Estate for his workers very close to the refinery. This is not just that refinery you use to know. A visit to the site will explain a lot to you. Meanwhile Amen Estate, Free Trade Zone and even La campagne Tropicana cannot all be stupid at the same time. These Landmarks are all located within the refinery
