Update:

His claim that there’s ethnic clash ongoing in Ojo area is true. Here the link to confirm this https://www.nairaland.com/6413005/hausa-yoruba-clash-ibaban-one

He has left the site now to attend to another client who's job requires urgent attention but the work is ongoing.
It is in the news, I saw it on Channels TV where one person died

I hv run a logistics company and still manage a supply chain . I know the challenges . U cant label someone a fraudster without tangible proofs. 48hrs to rushed off to ur Name calling. If u don't trust the process , dont make a deal . Now you hv succeeded in Labeling him a Fraudster and having ur roofing sheet , what happens to the irreparable damage u have done against his Name ??

I completely understand your point of view..

Not to defend anyone here but do I fault a client whose millions is on the line, not hearing from a contractor for hrs?

How long is a piece of string?

The bottom line is please communicate with your clients, this is probably a logistics issue with the contractor having no intention to defraud the client but with the no communication, everything else happening around us, it might appear so

Madam, that's you opinion but you know a for a fact that the client didn't first break the deal.

Client said supplier promised to deliver in 24hrs, 48hrs later supplier has not even communicated the client with any update. We all understand encumbrances and that they always happen. Even if the supplier lost his phone, he should've known the urgency in which he needs to communicate since he is in a middle of a deal and the table is on him, his reputation is also at stake but the supplier clearly failed.

I have lost several business opportunities just because I refused to promise the client his expected timeline. Everytime I did that the client got himself into problems.

The supplier failed even if he later delivered

This is what I detest on this thread.

Those who label others as fraudsters hardly come back to update the thread when things actually turn out to be false.

He suddenly disappeared after discovering what he said concerning the contractor is false.

It's well o.

Within 24hrs of transaction, someone is already a fraudster. Not like the site location is at the backyard of the contractor.

This isn’t over yet until the client issue an IMMEDIATE RETRACTION of the libelous allegation and an express and unambiguous APOLOGY on this thread, nairaland and kobocity with the same or greater prominence, circulation and distribution.

The said malicious and libelous allegation was deliberately and repeatedly published and circulated by the client with the full knowledge and/or awareness of its consequences and implications on the feeling, integrity, character, office, business, status and reputation of @mountmoriah.

This unfounded and malicious allegation also violates sections 391 to 395 of the Penal Code Act as well as section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act.

We will protect the interest of both parties.

Where did you read that version that he hasn’t been in touch with the client after 48 hours?

Do you think he could have flew to Iwo road when we took over the matter last night?

I agree there was communication lapse which we are going to help our verified suppliers/contractors/owner builders work on but does that make him deserve the tag “Fraudster and Scammer.”

He wasn’t a scammer when he delivered woods to the site without payment but he was one because he couldn’t deliver within 48 hours.

Exactly. He has suddenly disappeared and no more in a haste to come and update the house on the delivery. I will maintain that 48hrs is too haste a decision to label someone a fraudster.

Very good point of view.

But a fraudster would need even less than 24hrs to do their damage. I heard a story of a contractor that was leaving the country to husssle, he was even at the airport when he accepted a deposit for a job he knew he will not complete.. things dey happen..

We haven't heard from the contractor to ascertain what happened, his own side of the story.

But if the client was on ground, spoke to the contractor about 10 am, and having knowledge of the fracas around the area, he should have been reasonable since he knew e dey hot for area.

But n3xt have been in communication with the contractor, that means he was somewhat reachable even with the fracas.. did he send a text to the client? Facebook etc.

I will await until both sides are debriefed.

Good morning all,

I want to thank everyone who has helped in solving this issue. Special thanks to Kobocity for his swift response and professionalism . Mountmoriah has delivered the roofing materials and installers are currently installing them. I was very nervous because of my previous Fraud experience on this platform. Also, the gap of communication he created exacerbated the whole situation. Sure, there was sinister motive behind his silence but thank God I acted fast. My advice to anyone dealing with contractors on this platform or anywhere else is to be on your toes....

Hang on a minute.. not so fast.

Did you know about the fracas in the area?

Did the contractor inform you on the difficulty getting to your site because of the fracas?

You said in a previous post that you had a communication with him by 10am?

Baba, we’re done.

The contractor got to know about the fracas after the case was reported around 11pm so it couldn’t have been the cause of the delay.

Let’s move on sir.

I move not because I don't have mb or my battery is low, this is weekend and I do have time for Yada Yada, back and forth posting grin but admire his tenacity and effort to fix this issue.
I would have preferred this all happened in kobocity not here in nairaland. He deserved the accolades.

At the point where there’s breach of trust, I doubt the client will accept anything that come from the contractor as truth.

The client asked me to act on the issue and feedback.

Even at moment, the client is not ready to clear anything until the installation is done and he can confirm if the material supplied is the original one.

Moving forward, I got this from the kobocity team on suppliers verification. What do you think about this move?

Yay or Nay?

The team suggested that verified suppliers must include an upload of bank verified and stamped BVN (except if the larger community objects to this) in the document submitted to us for verification.

The team also suggested that for transparency, we should require anyone verified to create a thread on kobocity and gives updates on all transactions gotten through the platform, while not revealing private information of clients.

I am on the fence on the BVN issue.

But on the other one, yes contractor should create a thread and update for transparency.

Hello, pls google goes a long way to self educate yourself most times so it won't look as if you're lagging or speaking off-point .
The said Netherlands inverter product is durable & actively sold by said company your mentioned as seen in snapshot below ! I never said this was outrightly the best forum for advert but those interested will definitely reach out privately as it doesn't affect your discussions in anyway to be candid .. We've prospects calling from same forum and making backdoor transacts ! If interested, apply same positive energy to reach me ... Cheer's

https://prag.global/product-category/inverters/cyber-power-inverter/

Pragmatic Technologies is not Netherlands but rather a wholly Nigerian company that makes its products in China. If I recall correctly, they started as buyright in 2012. Nothing to be ashamed of about China, afterall iphones are made in the same China.

That you saw the product on the site does not invalidate my assertion. The website might be out of date or it might be old stock or the usual. Reasons are that:

First, a lot of Nigerian websites are lousy at product updates. It is when you place an order, that you get the out of stock feedback.

Second, our merchants have a very bad habit of trying to pass off open box items as brand new. (It was the main reason I stopped using konga)

Third, sometimes, it may just be that the merchants still have very very old stock. Example, you can still find those old yellow firman generators for sale as new. I even bet I can get brand new iphone-6S on jumia and konga. Furthermore, am guessing you did not know that some companies like LG intentionally ship phased out stuff to Nigerian market.

Anyway, the issue is not worth chasing. I still have about 5 of those model that prag waybilled back to me after I refused their offer to trade in for the new range. I re-porposed transformer coil windings of some of them because truelly they were rugged.

online business is not for the WEAK and that's the new trend. So you better man off and face it or don't just do it to avoid being a cry cry baby like this case(take your money to store and buy it yourself)

His fault was communication and nothing more. Lot of people here move millions to anonymous people they have never met and they get it done and also handle delays and complaints maturely without stepping toes in Nigeria.

Ok let's quit chasing clouts over faily used product sales as we aint kids tho ! See nameplate below & also note, prag website isn't outdated .. Save yourself the energy by viewing popular product nameplate in snapshot below .. .
Cyberpower history differs from current prag products .. We also have popular Phocos inverters with German roots but produced in China. Nevertheless nobody condemned or ruled out China in product nameplate .. Nobody asked nor seeked for why you use konga nor prefer jumia bla bla bla tales as it's basically turning feminine of you tho ! This is a public fora, try apply deliberate effort in more research regarding a said product before bastardizing or applying vague/ xyz assumptions in your write-up...

I totally agree with this. Nigerians are largely impatient people, and I wonder how we can change. I remember coming in for a job from Lagos to Delta driving on the high way. I informed them that I was on my way and should probably get there in the evening hopely as I left in the morning.

Got stopped by police severally. And on a particular occasion kept close to Benin for 2 hrs. I told them there were delays, and there was already mistrust. I couldn't keep picking calls on a dangerous high way with bad roads. I got to Warri at 8pm tired and worne out, and couldn't proceed to Ethiope East again. Sent a text that I would make it tomorrow as it was already dark. I got a nasty text thereafter, that I was not serious and all allegations.

Got there next day, while they tried to form smiling and make up for their impatience, their unsavoury words had already strained our relationship, and I never attempted to prolong my contract with them for a day more despite them asking.
