BabaOwen:About three days ago, a large military base was overrun in Mali by the terrorists in Mali. This video is most likely from there. We should be very careful of what we say in public especially in this period of heightened tension. Absolutely nothing suggests that the armed men in the video are Fulanis yet by some way you reached the conclusion that they must be Fulani. This video and the statement attached to it can be the justification some hot headed individuals have been looking for to target and kill innocent people. If not because the present administration is weak and stupid, they would have passed the hate speech and misinformation bill and many of the needless deaths and destruction would have been avoided. |

10 killed, 30 missing as Amotekun allegedly ‘joined hoodlums to attack Northerners’ in Oyo At least 10 people have been killed, 70 sustained gunshots injuries and over 30 Northerners declared missing in a deadly attack on Sasa Market traders in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State. DAILY NIGERIAN gathered over 6,000 Northerners, mostly Hausas, are currently taking refuge at the residence of Sarkin Sasa, Haruna Maiyasin. “I have over 6,000 displaced people packed in my house. Many people have been killed, while others injured,” Mr Maiyasin told DAILY NIGERIAN. Witnesses said the crisis erupted on Thursday when a porter carrying a basket of tomato inadvertently nudged a Yoruba woman. The woman allegedly retaliated and organised a group of Yoruba thugs to avenge. DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that after the fight, one of the thugs died in the hospital. When the news of the death circulated, the Yoruba youths allegedly gathered and started attacking the Northern traders. In a interview with DAILY NIGERIAN, the chairman of Sasa Market Traders, Usman Yako, said they informed the police immediately after the report of the death, but the police did not promptly respond to their call until the situation went out of control. “We called the police to inform them about the issue, and possible break down of law and order, but they did not take action immediately until the situation deteriorated,” he said. According to Mr Yako, when the operatives of the regional security outfit, Amotekun, came, they started shooting at Northern traders instead of protecting them from attack. “When Amotekun came, they started shooting at Northerners. The hoodlums started setting houses ablaze, shooting and burning Hausa traders’ shops. “It is apparent that it was a targeted attack on Hausas and other Northerners. “The attack also spread to the Lagos-Ojo Expressway, which is not far from the market. Trailers belonging to Northerners were looted, burnt down, and the drivers slaughtered. “We were invited to Government House yesterday (Friday), and two of us were delegated. Nothing was actually done to avert the crisis and safeguard our lives. “We have so far counted 10 bodies in the hospital. Over 70 people sustained gunshot injuries. 30 people, including my own brother, are missing,” he added. On Saturday, Governor Seyi Makinde imposed a curfew on the area and shut the market indefinitely. A statement by Taiwo Adisa, the spokesman for Governor Seyi Makinde, indicated that the governor gave the order to forestall breakdown of law and order in the area. The curfew is to run from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. The statement warned residents of the affected area to go about their legitimate businesses peacefully, stating that anyone caught perpetrating violence will face the wrath of the law. bidex111:The solution is pretty simple, if we can't provide armored vehicles for all of them, we can at least buy cheap drones to scout ahead and for situational awareness. And also mine sweepers. |

Maybe we should start discussing military operations in Egypt too, we have similar problems, we can learn from each other. Following accounts that post on the Sinai operations can be a start. |

Unknown number of herdsmen on Friday night invaded Igbooro, Oja-Odan in the Yewa-North Local Government area of Ogun State, killing three and injuring two villagers. The marauding herdsmen reportedly invaded the village, closed to Eggua in Oja-Odan around 11 pm on Friday, shot indiscriminately, and set ablaze three houses and storehouses in the village. A mother and her child were among the three persons killed in their huts while two persons were said to be in critical conditions after they were shot by the herdsmen. It was also learnt that many people, including children, sustained varying degrees of injuries. The attack came barely 24 hours after five persons were killed in Owode Ketu, Ogun State. Confirming the incident, Baale of Igbooro, Abidemi Akorede, said he had counted three corpses as of the time of speaking with our correspondent on Saturday morning. Akorede said two villagers, a man, and a woman have been rushed to a nearby hospital after they sustained gunshots injuries. The village head said, “Some Fulani herdsmen invaded our village last night. As they arrived, they set ablaze some houses and started shooting sporadically, they macheted a child to death where he hid. “They hacked a mother and her child to death. I have counted three corpses, two have been rushed to the hospital, they are in critical condition after they were shot. “They did not come with their cattle for grazing. They just stormed the village, killed people, and destroyed a lot of property. “Three houses were set ablaze and one commercial bus. Silos were also burnt with the grains.” When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/breaking-three-killed-as-suspected-herdsmen-invade-ogun-community/%3famp=1 |

Rebecca Ejifoma One of the officers of the Lagos State Police Command, Saturday, told arrested protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in a video trending on Twitter that ‘god of iron will kill them.’ The officer said this while addressing the arrested protesters including Mr. Marcaroni. They were handcuffed and stripped of their shirts and singlets. While one of the officers calmly asked them what they were thinking, an officer was heard cursing the arrested protesters in Yoruba language, “Ogun ma pa yin” (God of iron will kill you). Not deterred by the arrest of the first set, another group of peaceful unarmed protesters arrived at the Toll Plaza chanting, “How many people government go kill?”. Although they sat on the ground to demand justice, they were also apprehended like their fellow protesters. Meanwhile, other protesters who stayed indoor, took to Twitter to vent their disgust over the way the government chose to handle the issue. A tweeter.user, Idris @alomah, reacted to the arrest thus, “Nigeria will treat peaceful protesters this way yet pamper ‘repentant’ bandits for ‘surrendering’ ammunition. This country is a joke!” Another Tweeter handle, Dharmie_Charmz @Precious_ayeni, wrote: “I don’t think peaceful protest can do the job again. Since they want to be mad in this country…let’s be mad together.. Make we scatter everything.. And rearrange it after everything has cleared.” https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2021/02/13/god-of-iron-will-kill-you-policeman-tells-arrested-protesters-2/amp/ Let this policeman face Boko haram, and see him crying about not been equipped enough. |

bidex111:No offence meant to Babaown, but using the word 'lazy' instead of the wickedness bordering on crimes against humanity, which those pedalling misleading info and pics intended to cause civil strife and mass bloodshed, is being too kind. It is imperative, given negative realities the world sees unfolding due to Social Media, that laws are affected that let individuals world wide understand that they will be tracked and prosecuted by the international community for peddling misleading info that leads to, 'unlawful outcomes' whatever it is agreed constitute grave enough misleading information . There is a better way of saying this but I don't know how. |
