Cement is around N2,900
16mm rods N3800
12mm rods N2750
8mm rods N1,350

Depending on where you buy.

We have been casting this decking since Thursday evening, the borehole dried up yesterday morning and we have started buying water from water tankers since then. But we are pushing on with the work, more pictures later.

Any reason for the void at the beginning(bottom) of the staircase? I think it would have looked better if attached to the wall to be unique--that is starting out wide at the bottom and then curl up.

Ok, the reason is that the designers of the staircase will not want the staircase to be immediately accessible for people coming straight into the house, the designer of the plans wanted a staircase that will face the lobby on the right.

This will have dual benefits, one is the reduction in the possibility of a collision between those running down the stairs and those coming out from the main living room on the left. The other benefit is aesthetics, the curvier a staircase, the more beautiful it looks.

This new decking is still curing, we might wait for up to a week before starting the upper floor walls of this house. I will keep procuring more materials to be used when we start. More pictures when we restart.

It's just a matter of choice, some people use a staircase, not only as a means of going upstairs, but as qn artistic statement.

Another point to consider is the size of the house, this house is not our normal duplex, this duplex is very big. The plan is made in such a way that the front spiral staircase is visible to people at the front lobby, living rooms area, the other staircase is at the back, where people at the back of the house can go up from.

The landing of the two staircases are in two different areas of the upper floor.

Great project! Can't they mold their own blocks? Or is it faster to buy since it takes time to solidify before being used?
Bros, what is the external dimension of this house and is it always better to use 9 inches block to build a a storey duplex or can one use use 6 inches solid?

We cannot even get the right type of sand here, coarse sharp sand is scarce too. I cannot make blocks here except I can stay and supervise them, but I have block makers who produce good blocks, but sand scarcity is affecting everything.

The external dimensions of this house is about 17450 x 18000. It's always better to use 9" blocks for partitioning of a duplex. The piping will fit better into the walls without being noticed. Thanks.
