A lady, Nana Aisha, who says she is an eyewitness has shared an account of the incident that caused the Hausa/Yoruba clash in Shasha, Ibadan in Oyo state.

The crisis led to such hashtags as #StopOyoMassacre, #StopKilingNortherners on social media.

The lady while sharing eyewitness account said:

"This is Nana Aisha reporting from Shasha, Ibadan.
Please guys, I have been reading a lot of posts saying that the Northerners are at fault, the Northerners are killing people. Please this is just a total misunderstanding."

"This is the accurate story of what happened because I was there. A Niger man carried a basket of tomatoes, he fell down and the tomatoes all poured on the floor in front of a Yoruba woman's shop. The woman told the Niger man to pack the tomatoes and also wash her shop. The Niger man was like this is a market, there is no where he's going to get water to wash the woman's shop. He pleased with her but she refused. She said she will not leave him alone unless he washed her shop."

"Then another Yoruba man jumped into the conversation, slapped the Niger man. Immediately, the Niger man also slapped the Yoruba man back. Immediately the Niger man slapped the Yoruba man, the Yoruba man slipped on the floor and fainted. People gathered and took him to the hospital where he was reported dead. People were shocked that one slap killed the Yoruba man."

"So one idiot that was there posted rubbish online. He said an Hausa man slapped a Yoruba man to death."

"Shasha thugs got angry and started killing Hausas. They thought it was really Hausa people that started the war, they didn't know it's a Niger man that slapped someone to death, not an Hausa man. So, please guys, whenever you want to post, investigate before posting, don't just post rubbish. Just one post started a war. Just one post has killed many people...."

There are Hausas from Niger all over Nigeria. That's why they find it so easy to blend in and confuse people.

Dont mind Hausa people,If the hausa/fulani from Niger had done well and praised by the Yorubas they will not say he is from Niger but he is hausa man.

The NIS is dominated by Hausa/Fulani,why are they not deporting illegal migrants in Nigeria in this time of security?

Personally i think the fulanis took advantage of the fight to provoke the Yorubas against hausas by burning Yoruba properties on friday. The yorubas rampage started on saturday as a revenge.
This game of throne is getting deadlier dady by day.

Niger people are hausas too, though that doesnt justify the mindless killings, arson and looting.

Niger state is not Hausa. They consider it insulting to term them Hausa.

Rubbish.... When hundreds of eye witnesses narrated the Lekki massacre, evil people said it's a lie. Why now believe the narration of just one person in this occasion? What's good for the goose is also good for the gander.

Where is the Niger/Hausa man that delivered the slap??

This girl with Afghanistan battle ground dentition must be related to Liar Mohammed.

How did she know the tomato man was from Niger?

I’m sad and disappointed. The Yoruba man underrated the hands that was carrying the tomatoes.

The Niger man actually might be a panel beater, a lorry mechanic or one of those people that sell scrap metals..his hand must be investigated.

Lies from the pit of hell. There is a free border between Niger and Nigeria. They blame foreigners from Niger when convenient, use them to commit authorities when they could not get enough Hausa, recruit from Niger all the way to Libya for Jihadi religious war on Nigeria.

But as one of them is brought to Justice, they blame Niger and foreign mercenaries. Well, Buhari father is from Niger.

Where was this girl hiding and these mercenaries did not jump on her or rape her as they rape Yoruba woman?

Some people are ready to believe her!

The damage has been done!!

The person that even use slap to kill the Yoruba is even a Hausa speaking Nigeriens not a Hausa nor a fulani man!

But they decided to attack and start killing the Hausas!!

There are groups of alleged criminal herdsmen in Oyo and Ogun who are busy killing people in their communities!!

But those guys can't confront them... They go for innocent Hausas...

they know that Hausas hardly retaliate and will be easy for them to attack...

they gang up in millions against the innocent Hausas that trusted and believe in the society they've been living for years!

Where are those southerners telling us how much they love the Hausas... Telling us how peaceful and nice the Hausas are...

Telling us that Fulanis are the only trouble makers in the north...

Oya come and defend the Hausas...

Why attacking and burning down their business??

Why turning their women to widows for absolutely no reason?

The Hausas that just last week you are all Over the media telling us how much you love them.

Telling them that fulanis are their enemies!!

Why are you killing them??

Rip to innocent legit hustlers that were killed in Oyo state!!

They didn't kill...

They didn't theif...

They didn't rape any one...

They didn't commit any crime!!

They were attacked and killed because they're Hausas from northern Nigeria!!
I v been reading your posts. You are not better than thugs. Your posts aren't dousing tension but increasing it. What's your problem you this good for nothing educated-illiterate disgracing Hausa/Fulanis worldwide?

This girl is very stupid. So the guy is suddenly a Niger guy when Seriki shasha didn't deny him being Hausa. The truth of the matter is that can Yoruba try half of what these Hausas try in Yorubaland, in Hausa land. Of course not. I even heard some ignorants calling Hausa the friendliest sects. Friendly to who? If they are friendly to any Southerner, it's because that Southerner doesn't trespass. But come here, they will be telling useless stories of how they've been on Yoruba soil since the days of Lord Lugard.
I wish Hausas will get the Shasha message, know your boundaries. No matter how long you stay as a visitor, you remain a visitor.
Nobody should say one Nigeria please
hausas are spread all over west africa. From niger up to senegal. Hausa is a tribe, Niger is a country.

Look at how people lives are wasted based on division narratives promoted by political elite of the south west region. The ethnic profiling of the criminals bandits an albatross that have wreaked havoc across nigeria. In the end, it is the peasant traders and other commoners that were killed and their properties destroyed by their fellow commoners. Reprisals in the north is perhaps only minutes away. These cycles of violence, the ritual we have practice for decades in our land to establish dominance in polity over one another and in reality it changes nothing rather it deepens the woes of our people and provided armful evidence of our beastiality as a race.

I still want to know about our connection with Niger. Maybe Buhari is from there. Everybody is saying Fulani foreigners especially the ones from Niger are committing crimes, so why can't we pounce on them. We are hearing of their criminal activities, our President still dims it fit to approve a rail line to the Niger. Are they planning to relocate all Niger Fulani's to Nigeria?
buhari's mum is from niger. Katsina town, the capital of katsina state is about 20km away from niger. Thats why during buhari's campaign, 5 governors from niger attended. They are same people, same language, same culture.

The narration is laden with lies, a typical northerner will not say the truth, how did she know the man was from Niger, did she follow the people that took to the man to the hospital, how did he know the man faint rather than instant death, she is just trying to cover up naked truth
