A lady, Nana Aisha, who says she is an eyewitness has shared an account of the incident that caused the Hausa/Yoruba clash in Shasha, Ibadan in Oyo state.

The crisis led to such hashtags as #StopOyoMassacre, #StopKilingNortherners on social media.

The lady while sharing eyewitness account said:

"This is Nana Aisha reporting from Shasha, Ibadan.
Please guys, I have been reading a lot of posts saying that the Northerners are at fault, the Northerners are killing people. Please this is just a total misunderstanding."

"This is the accurate story of what happened because I was there. A Niger man carried a basket of tomatoes, he fell down and the tomatoes all poured on the floor in front of a Yoruba woman's shop. The woman told the Niger man to pack the tomatoes and also wash her shop. The Niger man was like this is a market, there is no where he's going to get water to wash the woman's shop. He pleased with her but she refused. She said she will not leave him alone unless he washed her shop."

"Then another Yoruba man jumped into the conversation, slapped the Niger man. Immediately, the Niger man also slapped the Yoruba man back. Immediately the Niger man slapped the Yoruba man, the Yoruba man slipped on the floor and fainted. People gathered and took him to the hospital where he was reported dead. People were shocked that one slap killed the Yoruba man."

"So one idiot that was there posted rubbish online. He said an Hausa man slapped a Yoruba man to death."

"Shasha thugs got angry and started killing Hausas. They thought it was really Hausa people that started the war, they didn't know it's a Niger man that slapped someone to death, not an Hausa man. So, please guys, whenever you want to post, investigate before posting, don't just post rubbish. Just one post started a war. Just one post has killed many people...."

How can one person just come and slap the Niger man without asking what happened? The story is not balance until the other side is heard.

How does she even know the killer is from Niger? What do you expect from a Northerner narrator? I don't believe her story also .

Neddstark:
What happened in Shasha was an outburst of pent up anger against the Northerners kidnapping and farm invasions. All anger pent up was now used against people from the North. See how innocent northerners had to die from the Fulani madness going on.
The truth is that the clash was caused by an hausa from Niger Republic who drew the first blood and his kins men keyed into it.

However let me say that the young lady is lying through her teeths!!!

The true story is that the an hausa guy from Niger Republic had an argument with a pregnant Yoruba woman after he bumped into her with his wheelbarrow, instead of the hausas guy to apologise, he became aggressive and started beaten the pregnant woman.

Not long, the dead cobbler who happens to be the closest Yoruba man around came forward asked why the hausa guy was beaten a pregnant woman but the hausa guy got offended and suddenly attacked the cobbler with a charm which made the cobbler to fall and started foaming in the mouth.

Seeing this the hausa guy ran into the hausa area of the market. The Yorubas didn't chase him but quickly carried the cobbler to the hospital were he later died.

After the news of his death got out, his friends came together and went to the hausa quarter and requested that they present the hausa that hit the Yoruba cobbler with charm since he wasn't handed over to the police but shielded by the Seriki in his house.

Rather than seek for peace the hausas came out in large numbers with weapons and attacked the cobbler's friends which resulted a small fight and the hausas started destroying Yoruba properties and also attacking Yorubas.

The Yorubas reinforce and confronted them hereby leading to more deaths.

Later the army and police came in to stop the fight but to surprise of the Yorubas, the army quickly took sides and started protecting the hausas.

The Yorubas held their peace as the army personnels shielded the hausas, they protected them and their properties without doing same for the Yorubas, however by night time when the Yorubas have left and several back inside their home, the soldiers gave the hausas room to attack and kill and inflict injuries on the Yorubas who were sleeping in their houses and they damaged and set fire to several houses and businesses, vehicles etc that are owned by the Yorubas inside the market with the army protecting them( This took place from late on Friday into Saturday with the hausas getting reinforcement from their kins men from areas all around the market).

In the morning, some Yorubas quickly came out to counter attack them but they were prevented from doing so by the army; They then asked why is it that the army is only protecting the hausas but not doing same for the Yorubas!

The army personnels response was that it was the Seriki that called them and not the Yorubas!!!! Imagine.

During the day time on Saturday more Yorubas that felt cheated went to confront them and another round of fighting took place which was also brought under control but lives had been lost also.

Rather for the hausas to embrace peace they simply got more reinforcement from all over the local government and as such went outside the market in the Night destroying and killing Yorubas with military backing.

The above was what finally broke the carmel's back, the Yorubas around got the news and saw videos of what the hausas were doing and felt obliged to respond in kind and that's how all hell broke loose.

Let me say it won't have gotten out of hand if the army personnels had behaved in a professional manner. It was only few weeks ago that they did almost the same thing in Ogun State when they went with some troublesome Fulanis herdsmen whom some people banished from their communities due to destruction of farm lands, rapes and killings.

The soldiers just started beaten eye witnesses, the traditional ruler and people in those communities and instructing them to take back the herdsmen and their cattles by force!!! What made me laugh was the Fulani herdsmen telling the soldiers who to beat and the soldiers would simply go ahead and beat the hell of that person!!!

Can the North accept such? The same thing the military does when igbos and hausas clash, rather that calm things down they take sides by siding with the hausas.

People are getting pissed off with such rubbish which is also saddled with the herdsmen violence and the nepotism that's very evident in the Country.

The threats coming from the North is also contributing to the crisis as the South West is not scared of the north. How will the wrong be claiming right?

The the news of happenings in Nigeria, if the Fulanis violent herdsmen issue is not properly handled it may explode into what is more than the herdsmens and their sponsors can handle or match.

Their leaders need to do the needful fast so as to prevent total break down of law and order as many people may result to full time self defense which is very dangerous.

Like the Israelis do; an eye for your head not an eye for an eye.

Just one question: How did she know the man was from Niger?

Many Niger Hausa people have unique tribal marks. Even I that I'm not Hausa, I can tell most of them from Nigerian Hausa. Many are not even Hausa, but Buzu or Zabarma.

Her story sounds credible, taking into account the hate speech that has been spread by Go-knows-who in Yoruba land, and the fact that to the average local Yoruba person, anyone from north of the R. Niger is Hausa/Fulani and anyone East of it is Ibo (sic).

We are here in the North watching the arson, massacre done to our people in the SW for just being northerners... first to do no they pain so they say...
For every one Southwest person residing in the north you simply have 7 to 10 Northerner residing in the South West.

Do the math.

Other regions also have more of their people residing in the South West than South West people in their region.

The Yorubas I know will never draw the first blood but will always respond to those who attack their own.

The Yorubas have never seen any tribe but friends but they would no longer tolorate their people getting killed by some people who don't have any human feeling.

However do note that the clash only took in a small area of a local government council in ibadan not the whole ibadan or Oyo State or South West as hausas in other areas were not harassed or attacked in other markets and area as they went on with their normal businesses.

Its SO SAD, I DONT SUPPORT THE KILLING OF THE HAUSAS BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT HAUSAS ARE FROM THE NORTH, WHEN WAR IS DECLARED ON THE FULANIS IT WILL SPREAD TO THE HAUSAS....THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT.

WE DIDNT TELL THE HAUSAS TO ALLOW THE FULANI UNDER FODIO TO CONQUER AND ASSIMILATE WITH THEM.

MY SINCERE ADVICE IS FOR THE HAUSAS TO GO BACK TO THE NORTH, LEAVING THE FULANI BEHIND.
ANY COW OR HERDMEN whether guilty or innocent SEEN SHOULD BE KILLED OR LYNCHED!!!

quote author=Arewa1stSon post=99095150]The damage has been done!!

The person that even use slap to kill the Yoruba is even a Hausa speaking Nigerien migrant not a Hausa nor a fulani man!

But they decided to attack and start killing the Hausas!!

There are groups of alleged criminal herdsmen in Oyo and Ogun who are busy killing people in their communities!!

But those guys can't confront them... They go for innocent Hausas...

they know that Hausas hardly retaliate and will be easy for them to attack...

they gang up in millions against the innocent Hausas that trusted and believe in the society they've been living for years!

Where are those southerners telling us how much they love the Hausas... Telling us how peaceful and nice the Hausas are...

Telling us that Fulanis are the only trouble makers in the north...

Oya come and defend the Hausas...

Why attacking and burning down their business??

Why turning their women to widows for absolutely no reason?

The Hausas that just last week you are all Over the media telling us how much you love them.

Telling them that fulanis are their enemies!!

Why are you killing them??

Rip to innocent legit hustlers that were killed in Oyo state!!

They didn't kill...

They didn't theif...

They didn't rape any one...

They didn't commit any crime!!

They were attacked and killed because they're Hausas from northern Nigeria!!

Rip to the innocent souls who were killed while hustling to put food on the dinner table of their families!!

Exactly violence pays nobody. But the violence we see is as a result of pent up anger against injustice. If the murderer who killed the cobbler was handed over for justice, tens of people wont have died. But when a people try to prevent their brothers from the receiving end of justice, problems arise. The unjust killings of unarmed black Americans led to BLM. Unjust killings and injustice against Easterners has rekindled the agitations for Biafra. I hope Buhari takes the right steps for peace. It is well.

Our useless Nigerian army always does that to protect Hausas.....IF
WAR SHOULD BE DECLARED ON THE NORTH.....LET IT ALSO BE
INDIRECTLY DECLARED ON THE NIGERIAN ARMY BECAUSE THEY WILL DEFEND THESE BLOOD THIRSTY BIGOTS!!!

NIGERIA IS NOT OUR COUNTRY THAT IS THE TRUTH, ITS UNITY
HAS EXPIRED...TIME HAS COME FOR GOVT TO CONSIDER
CONFEDERATION WITH A LOOSE CENTRE.

I ALSO USE THIS MEDIUM TO ASK THE OTHERS IBOS TO GO TO
THE AID OF THE YORUBAS IF IT ESCALATE.

DONT SIT AND FOLD ARMS SAYING IT DOESNT CONCERN YOU.
THE IBOS SHOULD KNOW THAT IF ANY SOUTHERN REGION IS
WEAKENED, IT WILL AFFECT THE EAST AS THE NORTH WILL TURN
HER ATTENTION ON THE EAST( AND THAT WILL BE THE NORTH'S
WATERLOO).

I REPEAT IF THIS ESCALATES INTO SERIOUS, THE YORUBAS
SHOULD NOT BE LEFT ALONE....I KNOW THEY ARE PARTLY THE
CAUSE OF THEIR PROBLEM(ALLYING WITH THE NORTH) BUT FOR STRATEGIC REASONS....NO SOUTHERN REGION SHOULD BE
WEAKENED BY THE NORTH NO MATTER THE REASON!!!

BE WARNED EVERY SOUTHERNER!!

This girl is very stupid. So the guy is suddenly a Niger guy when Seriki shasha didn't deny him being Hausa. The truth of the matter is that can Yoruba try half of what these Hausas try in Yorubaland, in Hausa land. Of course not. I even heard some ignorants calling Hausa the friendliest sects. Friendly to who? If they are friendly to any Southerner, it's because that Southerner doesn't trespass. But come here, they will be telling useless stories of how they've been on Yoruba soil since the days of Lord Lugard.
I wish Hausas will get the Shasha message, know your boundaries. No matter how long you stay as a visitor, you remain a visitor.
Nobody should say one Nigeria please
They are visitors no doubt just like the afonjas here
