They can't maintain the one in city centres, its highway they want to keep an eye on with CCTV. They should invest in satellite surveillance

can they also be able to maintain it, because I know it's won't last for a year.

Re: Kidnapping: FG To Install CCTV Cameras On Highways by kenmaro: 11:01pm On Feb 16, 2021
Foolishness at its peak. Of what use is cctv when there is no existing residents database? Drone is the sure way to go. Step us drone stations across the nation monitoring the entire nation and highways. Track criminals to their hideout with drowns while following up with SWAT backup reinforcement immediately. No time for biometric tracing as there is no database. If no compromise from the security agents, calmness will return to the highways and even insurgency with 3months.

Which power will they use to power it?
That is if boys will not disconnect and sell them by night.

Actually these northerners govt are senseless, no sense again
all NIGERIAN politicians are senseless. Stop being tribal bigot.

The issues of fulanis all over the net is 70% lies. Yoruba are took 50% of the kidnappings and killings. Fulanis %30. Igbo 20%. Go and watch falana. I now support media needs to be censored in Nigeria. They fuel majority of this anti fulanis kidnapping nonesense.

Buhari is only guilty for being silent. Please watch Falana latest on this issue and stop bigotry.

This is laughable.. Common 4 hours power supply some cities can't boast of.. Abi OGA honourable minister don't know CCTV is useless without ELECTRICITY?
Re: Kidnapping: FG To Install CCTV Cameras On Highways by overseasnbeyond: 11:08pm On Feb 16, 2021
Damn these fools finally find another ways to make money.
You got to do it right first.
1. Get biometric of everybody captured.
2.Make electricity available always .
3. Equip the police with modern gadget and weapon not leaving behind training on use of force.
4. Secure the boarders.
5. Make policing work more computerised
Then you can be thinking of CCTV,
How many street light dey work again?

these old illiterates fulanis leading this contraption will lead everybody to the pit.
if a masked herdsman kidnapped a victim (s) how would you fish him out.
this stressed that the ruling fools do not know the remote problem.
the kidnappers are inside the forest,
use army and police to go and flush and kill all there. then set up camps in the forest , i swear the kidnappers will not have anywhere to keep their captive.
if they dont have base , they cant kidnap, rape or kill
the president is just applying deodorant on the herdsmen

Why not lit the highways before the talk of CCTV? Will the CCTV has ultra-sensor lens to capture images in the dark? Why do most Nigerians hate the people of Nigeria?

Omihanifa:
Another white elephant project again to siphon limited scare resources angry

The solution isn't about installing CCTV cameras

The best option to this issue is for the military to go on a massive offensive and flush them out of those forests and games reserves.

The federal and state governments should stop this madness of negotiating with criminal elements. It will only embolden them and they will use that money to reinforce themselves

How on earth can government be having pity on bandits that have successfully killed a first class monarch, killed so many Nigerians, and security agents ( army, airforce, police and vigilantes)

Get the society to be armed. Most of the societal decadences are solved by the society. The moment the society is empowered to protect its environs, the crime will be, at least, subsided.

A good idea that will help if they actually implement it fully, meaning with police integrated central command, full time paid CCTV controllers, forensic teams, dedicated armed responses units ete. Nigeria needs to adopt the philosophy, ‘anything worth doing, needs doing with utmost effort that yields results, becoming institutional.

When Nigerian police are at least able to get majority of serious criminals in time if they are unable to catch them on time, security will begin to improve in Nigeria even if borders are neglected. Majority of grievous crimes are committed by same people or group of people and those on the sidelines that are always tempted but aren’t bold enough to commit to deviant lifestyles are then encouraged by the fact that career deviants are never caught.

Even without the ravaging bandits and kidnapping quagmire, a proactive government would have installed Camera across the length and breadth of her territory long time ago.

No thanks to Jonathan/Sambo's presidency.

CCTV that they will just steal anyway? Ordinary solar street light doesn't last past 6 months... it's CCTV on highways ba?
The ones they put all over Abuja, wetin happen?

Abeg, the proper things is just share the money, and allow citizens to carry guns. At least kidnappers will know that one of them may not make it.
Re: Kidnapping: FG To Install CCTV Cameras On Highways by gr8child(m): 11:59pm On Feb 16, 2021
Something they will steal the next day. Or they will runz contract on the thing and what will be supplied will be cheap equipment that only shows fuzzy black and white footage with no sound. No be Nigeria again?

Please can we stop dragging in the past government for every issue... Buhari has been in charge longer than Jonathan by now. We're not even going to add his stint in 1983-1985. Let Buhari solve the problems he was elected to solve abeg. It's like a second year university student continuing to blame current failure on a bad school prefect in JSS 2.

For reference:
GEJ 5 May 2010 – 29 May 2015 (5 years)
Buhari 29 May 2015 - now (16 Feb 2021) (5 years 9 months)
