True Life story
A particular client who wanted to bring down his contractor at all cost was asked by the court to show up at the next hearing or the case be quashed for lack of interest. This client live in the North America.

He decided to come down to Nigeria because of this case. On the court date, the client was no where to be found in the court. Just as the magistrate moved to strike out the case, he stepped in. The magistrate then requested to revisit the case later that day.

The hearing resumed after all cases has been cleared. The client explained his story and how he has spent lot of money and time; took a lot of risk to attend the court that day. The magistrate replied and I quote “I am sure they must begged you but you didn’t listen. Well, we didn’t invite you. You brought yourself here.”

The magistrate decided to have empathy and asked that the case be adjourned to the next day because of the man who came from North America and asked the defendant if he’s ok with the arrangement.
The whole court burst into laughter when the defendant said “My lord, I’m very sorry I won’t be around tomorrow because I’m traveling immediately after this sitting.” The magistrate asked where he was traveling to. “he said “I’m traveling to Ibadan. Let us pick a date next month that’ll be convenient for the complainant to come back here.”

There was silence in the court.
