By "French revolution", I know you mean francophone crisis, I don't think this will be an issue, most of the benin republic used to be Yoruba territory before colonizers come around, in fact this is a major win if Nigeria want to over come the northern oligarchs, It will create a new power dynamics, then the question of restructuring can be easily tabled.

Benin republic can't join a union that won't favor them, it's high time we start seeing Nigeria as a union of nations more than a single nation state

There is no similarity. Bangladesh, India and Pakistan used to be one country and split up after a bitter civil war. Beninoise, Togolese, and Nigeriens, Chadians, and Some Camerounians all have closer affinity with certain parts of Nigeria.

Ideally, these parts should split and join their respective external families. In essence, the real Nigeria is the geographical Niger Delta area stretching from Edo down to Bayelsa, Rivers, and back up to Delta.
