Okay.
I didn’t spend time at all at the POE. After landing I took a long fast walk to the declaration machines, I scanned my passport there and filled the declaration form,my receipt was printed. Then I stood in line to wait for the next available officer. The officer I met just asked for my COVID test, declaration receipt and my passport, he then asked what I’m coming to Canada to do. I said I was a student. Finish. He allowed me in. Then I went to the study permit section( where my permit will be printed), the officer told me to put all my study documents on one side of the table, see checking. She was checking, asking me questions, she asked me like 3 questions, it took her 20mins to finish checking. Then she printed my study permit and attached it to the passport. Omo. I was so happy at that instant but I didn’t show it. So it is now compulsory to do COVID test at the airport, I spent like one hour there, registration+the test( make sure you have number and address of your university) . During that period, I found the cab man that my school sent to pick me up so at least my mind was settled, I won’t be out in the cold for too long. I did the COVID test then I went to drop my stuff in the car, I went to find something to eat at the airport.
Then I was ready for my 1 hour 15 minutes drive to my university quarantine residence

Please what do you mean by declaration receipt?

You don't have to wait prior to applying for your visa. Since the window for tuition payment opens in April, you can apply for your study permit and once payment has been made, you can send a copy of the tuition receipt to IRCC via webform.

It will end in praise

Hello Frank,

Please I sent a mail to you. I want to ask you some personal/offline questions.

Dear gurus in the house,
Lekiboboe
JustMellow
OtunbaTee
Please female a look at how I want to gather my POF
1. My mum will be my main sponsor and my uncle(who bears the same surname with me) will be my cosponsor)
2. My mum has 4 million plus in her bank accounts, she is planning to take a 'loan" of 2.5m from the cooperative(1.3m is actually her money and 1.2m is the actual loan, but you have to take a "loan" to take both your money and the actual loan). My co-sponsor will send her a gift deed of 5m (there will be papers to prove these eg LOE, affidavit)
3. Now my cosponsor is a Canadian citizen, will that affect my application in any way. I also have proof of his commitment in help as this isn't the first time he will be helping me.
4. Is the POF ok

Hello Lysega,

Your cosponsor being a Canadian citizen won't affect your application as I believe all necessary documentations to validate the sponsorship intent will be provided.

On a second note, why will your cosponsor gift your sponsor funds to sponsor you?! Can't the copsonsor just gift you the funds directly since this isn't the first time expressing financial commitment to you.

My take:

Get your uncle to either setup a GIC account on your behalf or transfer the funds directly into your account as sponsorship commitment funds.

He can thereafter use his Letter of Cosponsorship to tell the VO to look out for the lump sum deposit to you and the reason for it.

If possible, get your uncle to pay part or full tuition from the BS he will end up using for the projected intent. This will hive more weight and credibility to the said sponsorship intent.

So doing, your mom available financial resources and sitting financial balance may be fairly scrutinized in a favourable manner.

For that loan, I will suggest your mom explains the lump sum as a "loan repayment to her." The evident document to support it should be a "Loan Repayment"document or as the may have it. This is just a personal suggestion to help you think of other more compatible option/idea.

Any lump sum coming from your mom can be accompanied by a Deed Gift in addition to her LoS. If the 5m from your uncle goes a long way to cover your LE and other half of tuition in the case where part of it was previously paid, your mom don't need to transfer any funds to you.

She could just demonstrate to meet other sundry needs while studying and the tuition cost forthe subsequent year if the program has a 2year study length.

Best of Luck

I don't think its late. As long as the deadline is not exceeded, you should submit your application. I've heard very good stories about the MCSC at UNB and you stand a good chance of getting accepted.

Legacyedition:
GCMS note out.

VO saying he's not sure how the fund was accumulated, then go ahead to say he's not sure fund will be sufficient for study again.. Available fund is more than X5 of whole study cost.

Kindly advise generally.

Hello Legacyedition,

I don't know how well your letter was structured, but from the VO's remarks, all fingers are pointing to your letter.

The VO must be a very curious fellow. From the notes and the intonation of the writing, the VO was expecting that you would had sold a satisfactory reason why the local academic hub in your home country wasn't a topmost consideration.

The curious VO went further to link your prospect study to your employment and/or previous education as a determiner to assess your future plans for the proposed study. There was a doubt, maybe due to how you described your future plans after the proposed study.

Again, I don't know who used as a sponsor(s); the comment in the opening sentence of the second paragraph is mostly used by the VOs if it's a third party sponsorship. They would want to know what an applicant's parents source of funds, level of establishment, and financial status—I believe this wasn't highlighted. Though, this 'shouldn't' be applicable if you're a self-sponsored applicant.

The most important note penned by the VO is supporting your application will sufficient or surplus evidences or documents for your source of funds to prove your earnings (legally or justifiably). Ultimately, The VO took the available funds as borrowed monies.

Notwithstanding, it's always advised don't only show social ties, but rather socioeconomic ties for you and parents or siblings; whichever is applicable.

My take:

1. Rework your letter(s)
a. SOP to explain your study plan and connect the prospect study to your experience or previous study, whichever is more compatible; and to your future plans or career advancement plans.

b. LOE to address the VO's concerns. If you feel the VO wasn't thorough with the assessment of your application—politely, but yet, be blunt about it when pointing this out.

2. Include some relevant documents to support your source of funds

3. Include some relevant documents to demonstrate your family is adequately established.

4. This time clearly give reasons on why studying in Nigeria isn't a favourable choice toward your progressive plans.

Don't Ignore house: kindly follow on Twitter @GCMSWriters and IG @gcmswriters and check their page out.

Hello Everyone,

Please kindly advice. My friend submitted her application last week and later noticed that IELTS is now being asked for in recent times. Based on this, she has a few questions.

1. Hope submission of IELTS general test written in Nov 2019 not mean dual intent?

2, While filling the form, there was a section where they asked if an applicant's English Language skills have been evaluated by an English Language examination body? She answered NO.

3. Hope her response of NO to question 2 above not affect her application if she finally submits IELTS general done in Nov 2019?

Dear @Lekkiboboe, @Frankrobbn1, @JustMellow, @Rootiab and other gurus in the house, please respond to these questions.

Thank you so much

Hello Hajimuktar,

I see your question has been satisfactorily answered by Frankrobbn1.

I just received my refusal letter from the Canadian embassy and my refusal was based on these two reasons :

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

Hello Tim4humanity,

For more resourceful and precise response, request for your notes and when it arrives, the house will gladly assist in unraveling the VO's puzzles with it.
