It is easier for a single person to talk about marriage and how perfect it can be, all because they have not experienced it. Anyway, are there exceptions to a single person being a Marriage Counsellor? |

Yes. A person can study and learn to be a marriage counselor as a profession and start work before marrying. How competent they are would depend and likely grow with experience. |

lilvicky68:The bolded part is a fallacious statement. How can you be experienced without participating in it? That is not experience. It is called knowledge from what you’ve seen and read and your ability to discern the good from bad. Experience is an event, act or occurrence you’ve been actively or passively involved in. Any Tom, Dick and Harry can lecture on marriage, but everyone can’t be perfect in marriage cos it takes the two (man and woman) to tango. Even Chris Oyakilome has lectured and still lecturing on marriage and still didn’t keep his home |

Tolexander:let's draw the line on the word 'experience'. So remember what they say about experience? It's the best teacher if or when you survive that experience. I'm saying a single person may experience marriage without being married. That is if that person is observant about the activities of the people who are married around him or her, that person might have the experience to counsel those who don't have the same experience with her/her. Remember our values, norms and morals are drawn from the very first form of socialization, which is the family. So a person who came from a home where the father is a celebrated drunk and the mum a serial _whore, what do you think that person's very first experience on marriage is going to be? Never forget, two things influences a person's behaviour: family and environment. |

joseph1832:lol bro, That isn’t still experience. That is knowledge based on observations. Cos when one talks about experience, it surely means what one has partaken in. Though I support what you are saying. A child can only have the knowledge of how the roles of father and mother should be in the home together, but hasn’t experienced the role |

In most cases, single people are the best case in that scenario. Because of their experiences in dating and relationships, they find it hard to commit because they've seen and heard different stories from married people. |
