I have investments in both Chaka and Bamboo. I find chaka's fees more expensive and the interface not as simplified as bamboos'. Also bamboo reduces commissions from 1.5% to 1% when you become a gold member. Your investments are also insured by FDIC for up to $250,000. I have been investing since May and i can say i am very happy with Bamboo. I have added a snapshot of my portfolio (hidden amounts) but you can have an idea of what ~6 months roi looks like. The key is to buy the dips.

You also gain more as a value/growth/dividend investor than a trader due to the high commissions on these platforms (even as at bamboo's reduced 1%), traders need to find commission-free platforms like robinhood.

Please can you put me through on BAMBOO, I'm new to the system

If the stock prices go down, your money goes down with them... Just the value of the stock that you bought remains constant. The money will increase once the stock prices increase

Lol.... I don laugh tìrẹ. What do you think stock trading is?

There's an help page on the app. Read it up. Then read up to 30 pages on this thread

https://www.nairaland.com/5669161/us-stocks-pick-alert/244#5669161.7832

You'll have better insights into owning and trading stocks.

Research a stock before buying. Don't just buy on recommendation only.

Don't expect a stock to always give you positive returns in a very short time. The market may fluctuate. But, if you did enough DD, and you believe in the stock, it'll meet your expectations over the long term.

Yes, but don't get angry once the shares go over $200

Biden's Latest Move Just Handed the Vaccine Market to These 2 Companies
They can't vaccinate the whole world against COVID-19 -- but they may vaccinate all of the U.S.

It's no secret that we need several companies' products to gain approval in order to meet worldwide demand for a coronavirus vaccine. Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) and Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) reached commercialization first when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted their vaccine candidates Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) late last year. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), AstraZeneca (NASDAQ:AZN), and Novavax (NASDAQ:NVAX) are close behind. If each produced vaccines at top capacity, we still wouldn't have enough supply to immunize everyone worldwide. So, globally, there is plenty of business for all.

But how about if we look at only the U.S.? Here, the story is different. And it means fewer vaccine makers may prevail -- especially after President Joe Biden's latest move. The government is trying to buy enough vaccines for nearly every American -- from Pfizer and Moderna. And that means these early players may be about to take hold of the entire U.S. market. Let's take a look at what that means for Pfizer and Moderna today and down the road.

Increasing total orders
The U.S. government is seeking to increase its total order of doses from both companies from 400 million to 600 million. The U.S. population totals about 330 million. And the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines involve two doses. So, if every person wanted a vaccine, we would need 660 million doses. If the Biden administration succeeds in increasing its order for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, that leaves little room for another player to sell a rival vaccine.

For Pfizer and Moderna, of course, this is excellent news. We can estimate revenue by using the figure the U.S. government paid earlier for doses. That's $19.50 a dose for Pfizer's vaccine and $15 for Moderna's. The government already has ordered 200 million doses of each vaccine and now is aiming to buy another 100 million from each company. The total represents $5.8 billion in revenue for Pfizer and $4.5 billion for Moderna.

Of course, both companies now have to show they can deliver. Moderna expects to produce 200 million doses for the U.S. by the end of June. Pfizer and its partner BioNTech (NASDAQ:BNTX) have said they will supply the U.S. with that number of doses by the end of July.

Success here would secure both companies' positions as top coronavirus vaccine providers for the U.S.

But for how long? At least during this year and likely into 2022. And Moderna might have two more advantages on the horizon. The biotech company is testing its coronavirus vaccine in teens ages 12 through 17. If all goes well in this phase 2/3 trial, the company hopes to win an EUA in time for the fall back-to-school period. Moderna also is investigating a booster shot specifically targeting the South African coronavirus variant. That's the strain considered most likely to evade the efficacy of current drugs and vaccines.

What about the future?
But what happens to Pfizer and Moderna's U.S. market leadership in the future? That will depend somewhat on how the companies manage new strains -- and the logistics of delivering their vaccines. It also will depend on something they can't control: the competition.

If rivals bring more efficacious or easier-to-use vaccines to market, Pfizer and Moderna may lose market share. For instance, Johnson & Johnson is studying a one-dose vaccine in phase 3 trials. And smaller player Vaxart (NASDAQ:VXRT) is working on a vaccine in the form of a shelf-stable oral tablet. These features eventually could give them an edge.

But let's return to the present. Right now, Pfizer and Moderna are about to capture the entire U.S. market -- and make billions of dollars. With their first-to-market advantage, they're each likely to hold onto a portion of the worldwide market as well. So, even if they eventually lose some of the U.S. market down the road, their overall position should remain strong.

Right now, President Biden's policy represents opportunity for Pfizer and Moderna. They're steps ahead of pharmaceutical and biotech rivals, and those rivals will have to show their vaccines are more efficacious or far easier to distribute in order to steal the lead.

Adria Cimino has no position in any of the stocks mentioned. The Motley Fool recommends Johnson & Johnson and Moderna Inc. The Motley Fool has a disclosure polic

2$ is commission for buying which is Chaka s money
Another 2$ is commission for selling.. Chaka s money too

So total for buying and selling is 4$

However if you buy a stock that sells more than 200$, that commission is going to be 1%. That is if you buy a stock of 300$... you pay 3$ ommission.
A stock of 400$...you pay 4$ commission
A stock of 500$..you pay 5$ commission.... ainsi de suite...etc

So this means that their commission is fixed

I'm also curious as to why investment and trading brokerage platforms now request for BVN even PiggyVest and Cowrywise also ask for your BVN. I thought BVN should only be requested by loan apps or finance houses when a person is seeking credit from them

both cowrywise and piggyvest are both microfinance banks or houses. It's very safe... But you know, cbn hasn't given them the license to run like a commercial bank... The sole reason they cant give out debit card... It's very safe

Hi gamaliel,

You can follow me on twitter @danieladaise
Ask me more questions over there, if you have more.
I am a full time value investor and I have been investing for over 6 years now both foriegn and locally.

Okay let me try to answer.

No, there are no real demerits in participating in foreign investments.

Institutional investors have portfolios that are focused on foriegn investments. Institutional investors do this all the time. And now individual investors have the platform to do same easily.

After reading your question, I had to highlight somethings that should be explained further.

1. Local Investment opportunities vs International investment opportunities
2. The use of BVN in registration for a investment platform.
3. Interpreting frequent Dividends as a proof of a profitable company.

To address this please continue reading:
1. So which is better foreign or local Investment.
I think it depends on your strategy and the edge you have over other investors.

You should understand that market efficiency means people are interested in evaluating the value and price of assets.

This means you won't get many investment opportunities to take advantage of.

Yes Foriegn investments are more efficient but that only means they are more regulated and they have smart people constantly evaluating assets. It's not easy to make good returns in efficient markets.

So make sure you have an edge and you have researched before investing abroad.

2. There is no way you can have an investment or financial account without providing your BVN.
It is mandatory.
And don't worry if you don't trust a company then don't use their service wait till they can be trusted first.

3. Please don't make the mistake of thinking that because a company pays dividend frequently, so that means you should invest in them.
Companies can pay interim dividends but this is not a constant thing. Dividends are not constant. It depends on the financial bouyancy of the company for that year.

Try and get the valuation of the business and make sure the fundamentals of the company are solid enough before investing.

If somethings are not still clear here please reach out on Twitter ask me afore t question and I will. Answer.

Hope this helps...
