Greetings everyone,
I don't know what it takes to have a God Father or someone More like a father to you, but I want it.

My father is late, when I was at 7, now am 17 years and I want someone to be like a father to me, I want my dad's bro to be like a father to me, he's 35 yrs old. But how do I let him know? Should I go and ask him I want him to be like a father to me? Or should I tell him I want him to be my Guardian. I just can't do this all alone.

Ok if u r ready to be mentored, then let walk d road together, but humility, humbleness and willing to learn must come into play

sorry about the seed life has given you. you are the soul owner of how you want to plant and author the seed.

Although it's your Uncle's duty is to be a father figure and guardian to you since you father passed away.
But your Uncle at 35 is very young and you at 17.... the age Gap is low and he is also still young and may not understand what it takes to be a father.

look for an older family member and tell them you want them to help guide your decision making and choices about life

I can mentor you depending on the city and state you stay and if you will be humble.

I don't know your location but I Know am way far, Am In Adamawa. How do I let him know I need someone's attention?

yes, I also think he is still young, but he's the only one among them that can pay me attention. the rest sees me more like something else(which don't have a feature) sad

We share the same location. I may be able to help provide guidance to you. At least I am in a profession that makes it mandatory to interact with young people in the age bracket of 16 - 25/6 and even above. And I have quite a number of mentees. If you are cool headed, nothing stops me from bringing you under my wings.

I live in Federal Housing Estate. Tell me where you stay but don't be specific, just mention the area. Then I will initiate a contact.

Do you want a replacement father or a father figure?

There is an animated movie titled Onward that deals with this kind of issue. The two teenage brothers are trying to raise their father from the dead (the man died when the younger brother was still in the womb), and the younger brother wrote down all the things he intends to do with his dad in a list if they eventually succeed. One day, after a quarrel with his older brother after he lost a magic stone that is an integral component in the resurrection ritual, this younger brother brought out the list and wanted to tear it. He was going through the list when something struck him: he has already done all the things in that list with his older brother. His older brother has always been there for him, supported him through difficult times, listened to him, encouraged him and loved him right from when they were toddlers growing up without a father. The older brother has always been the father figure in his life, but he did not realise this because of 'see finish.'

I ask again: Do you want a replacement father or a father figure/mentor? What does age have to do with anything?

This is wrong, some 25 year old have sense more than 60 year old.
Age is never a determinant of maturity.
Especially in a country like Nigeria where the elderly are the ones that ruin the country, majority of the elderly in Nigeria lack integrity and that is why that generation ruined NIgeria.

If the 35 year old Uncle is matured and has dealt with life there is nothing stopping him from being able to provide the right kind of guidance and mentorship.

I am less than that age and I provide guidance for people much older than me here abroad, despite that I grew up in NIgeria.
Age does not determine maturity.

If he were he would not be looking for guidance. What he needs is the right support and mentorship and I am proud of him for reaching out. Some of you that grew up in organised families have no idea what people who have no one to look up to go through in life.
The fact that you are trying to undermine him for this post when it clearly shows his frustration and amplifies an individual looking for support means you yourself lack the ability to properly manage a young adult.

Make up your mind and start coming close to him, create that relationship and he will understand why you want or need

Talk with him often where necessary and seek advice from him when needed

But before you start discuss it with your mum and hear from her

Some uncles are good while some are bad

Study him very well before you start relating wit her
