smaller gigs sure, underpaying jobs? Not necessarily. The difference between upwork and fiverr is that on upwork most clients ( if they have the money) wants to pay more for who can do the job best. So you don't really need to low ball yourself.

Why not get someone to hire you offline get the person to come online(upwork) to rehire you and pay you via that medium

1) The name I used to sign up on upwork is not my actual name. I understand that there will be routine ID checks. I have tried changing the name but it seems impossible. should I just create another account or there is a way to change names?

2) How do you identify a high demand niche on upwork?

3) is it advisable to Buy reviews at first??

You will have issues, if you can't change your name, create a new account

2) There are a lot of categories on upwork, just search one by one if you have the time or narrow down your search to niches you are interested in, see how many times client posts jobs in that niche.

1. I always use my real details, I do not want my money locked
2. The complex the field, the less the proposals that's a common strategy, so invest in a niche skills
3. No comment, do what works for you, and be prepared for the consequences regardless.

The shorter and more direct approach works if your profile has more exciting things to look at ( reviews and portfolios) but you only have one portfolio, so your profile description needs to do the talking for now until you get reviews.

Yes, if you haven't gotten invite to video verification, try to make your profile completeness to be on 100%, also try to land a job.
