You must have an exit strategy! Having a solid exit strategy allows you to reallocate your money to stronger new positions that will perform better. Ultimately this is how you’ll sustain stronger returns over time.

While it’s always important you don’t panic and sell out of positions too soon (a very common mistake people make during pullbacks), it’s also important you understand when your company story is broken. You must be able to identify the difference between a pullback which is a great time to add to your position, and a broken story which is a legitimate reason to exit.

In a perfect world, you can buy great companies (like from my last post) and let them ride for 20 plus years and be very patient. Companies like those have had annualized returns of 20-30% and more over the last 20 years. But in many cases, you will have to identify that it’s time to sell. Remember, buy and hold doesn’t mean buy and forget.

On a high level, here’s what you need to have squared away prior to getting started.

EARN – make sure you’re making money

NO DEBT – get rid of any debt, especially high interest rate debt

SAVE – if you can’t save, this means either (1) you don’t make enough or (2) you’re spending too much (check your expenses and lifestyle)

INVEST – if the above checks out, then you’re ready to start investing.

Once you start investing, then you can start building your fortune by making sure you’re executing on two key strategies:

Dollar Cost Averaging
Compounding

We’ll soon cover this in more detail.

Hope, fear, and greed are the main emotions you’ll run into when investing. If you can’t manage your emotions, it’ll definitely affect how you invest which will ultimately affect your money.

Patience on the other hand is an underrated investing trait. But in order to have patience, you need to make sure those emotions don’t get a hold of you.

I like to invest in some of the riskiest stocks – small & mid cap growth stocks. However, I’m not taking AS MUCH risk because I know the company inside & out. The more you know, the less risky the investment is. This is why I always stress how important it is to do your own research and understand what you’re investing in. You’ll be surprised how much this will help. Even things like diversification, which some people consider the most important thing, will become secondary.

So when does it become very risky?

-When you don’t invest at all

-When you follow the crowd and buy blindly

-When you’re buying Penny Stocks

-When you’re day trading
Re: My Stock Plays in US Stocks Market by LauraClasikVibe(f): 12:33pm On Mar 03, 2021
When I say investing is not complicated, this is what I’m talking about. I attribute all of my success to

(1) understanding how to pick great companies and
(2) having patience. If you can get these two down, you’ll do more than great!

One of the main reasons investors are not successful is because they cannot handle market corrections and market crashes. The inability to not panic and things like timing the markets are killing investor profits. Having patience and holding stocks over the long-term is how you’ll be most successful.

Another big reason investors are not successful is because they do not know what they’re buying, and they do not do enough of their own research to find out. Once you understand this part of the equation, it will make the patience part much easier. You’ll have less worries about market downturns and you’ll have less risk. The decision to hold without any worries will be much easier.

Make investing a MONTHLY Obligation
What’s that mean?

It means treat investing like an expense just like you do your cell phone bill, your subscriptions, utility bill, rent, etc. Contribute $100, $200, $500 or whatever you can afford each month into your investing account, and use that money to invest.

Start at 18 or ASAP - do that every month and see where you’ll be when you’re 30 and then 40. It’s magical!

How many stock should I own in my Portfolio?
As many as you can handle! Which means you should know each company inside and out – what they do, where they’re going, who’s behind the wheel, how the books look, the culture they have, etc. It’s easy to have a portfolio of 50-60 stocks because someone told you to buy them, but if that’s the case then you likely don’t know what you own. So it really depends on how much time you have.

I spend at least a couple hours of each day researching stocks – both new stocks and sometimes positions I already own to make sure the story is still intact. If your time is limited, I would recommend a minimum of 10 stocks so you can stay diversified and a maximum of 25 stocks. But again, the more time you have the more you can handle.

What's SPAC?

A special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), sometimes called blank-check company, is a shell company that has no operations but plans to go public with the intention of acquiring or merging with a company utilizing the proceeds of the SPAC's initial public offering (IPO).

So a SPAC is a large pool of money—often $100 million or more–looking to merge with a private company and bring it public. Think of a SPAC as kind of a backdoor entry to the public markets. Unlike a traditional initial public offering (IPO) a SPAC merger doesn't require a roadshow, and there is no broker/dealer underwriter.

HIMS and PLAYBOY announced today that they’ll be using a SPAC to go public. Other notable companies that have used a SPAC are DraftKings, Virgin Galactic, Hyliion, and RePay Holdings.

SPACs have a unique structure that can offer investors an attractive risk-reward and potentially minimal downside risk. It’s been very common as of late to see Hedge Funds investing in SPAC’s because of the minimal risk associated with it.

But as with any and all investments, don’t be greedy and don’t chase something because everyone else is doing it. Make sure there’s fundamental value in what you’re investing in.

Hong Kong is exploring whether to allow Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPAC) to list in the Asian financial hub, according to a government statement, indicating that a largely U.S. phenomenon could be going global.

A SPAC is a blank-cheque company that raises money through an initial public offering (IPO) with the intention of merging with another firm, allowing that business to list more quickly.

Most SPACs so far have listed in the United States. They raised $60 billion in the first two months of 2021, Dealogic data showed, already more than 70% of 2020's annual deal value.

Hong Kong's markets regulator, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and exchange operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) briefed a forum of top financial leaders in the city about latest developments in SPACS on Monday, according to the statement issued that evening.

The Financial Leaders Forum, which is chaired by Hong Kong's Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, had asked the two organisations "to explore suitable listing regimes to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong as an international financial centre, while safeguarding the interests of the investing public."

Chan said in an interview with Bloomberg TV on Tuesday that the government was seriously looking into allowing SPACs.

Several Hong Kong tycoons, including Richard Li, the son of Hong Kong's richest man Li Kashing, have set up SPACs already or are working on doing so.

Even without SPACs, Hong Kong was the second most popular listing venue in the world in 2020 with deals worth $31.2 billion, compared to Nasdaq's $51.3 billion, according to Refinitiv data.

Can $100 give you a diviy?
$PSEC pay monthly dividends of $0.06
And is still cheap. The price as at Friday is $7.29 you can buy as many as you can to enjoy the monthly dividends.
But if you don't have enough capital is better to forget dividends and grow your money first. With growth stocks.

The Significance Of Ex-Dividend Dates

An ex-dividend date signals when a company's shares cease to trade with its current dividend payout. There is a small intermission period before the company announces a new dividend. Usually, a company's ex-dividend date falls one business day before its record date. Investors should keep this in mind when purchasing stocks because buying them on or after ex-dividend dates does not qualify them to receive the declared payment.

Newly declared dividends go to shareholders who have owned that stock before the ex-dividend date. Most ex-dividend dates operate on a quarterly basis.

Shares of Square jumped as much as 7% Tuesday after the company officially launched its banking operations this week.
The company’s stock closed up 4.6%.

Square’s new, wholly owned bank will offer FDIC-insured deposit accounts and loans to small businesses that have historically used the company for payment processing.

Salt Lake City-based Square Financial Services said Monday it will initially focus on offering business loan and deposit products, beginning with underwriting and originating business loans for Square Capital’s existing lending product.

Before its launch, Square Capital loans were issued through a partnership with Celtic Bank.

The company had been working on launching a bank for more than four years, and Square received regulatory approval last March. “We do not expect the bank to have a material impact on Square’s consolidated balance sheet, total net revenue, gross profit, or Adjusted EBITDA in 2021,” the company said.

What has made Twitter stock desireable once again after it had been in the wilderness for several years?

The answer: the micro-blogging app’s strong earnings momentum and the company’s ambitious growth plan, which is gaining a lot of traction.

For the quarter that ended Dec. 31, the number of Twitter daily users climbed to 192 million from 187 million in the third quarter. This included an impressive 1 million additional users in the U.S. alone. Twitter produced about 20% growth in daily active users for five straight quarters and has projected it will do so again in the current period.

Behind these successes are Twitter’s turnaround efforts, which started soon after the 2016 U.S. elections. During that period, Twitter drastically improved its product, aggressively moderated its content and cleaned its platform of abuse and toxic content.

Trump Ban Not Affecting Growth
With strong user growth, the company also informed worried investors last week that banning former U.S. President Donald Trump from its platform in January is not having any negative impact. The permanent ban on Trump tweets, the platform’s most followed personality, triggered predictions of massive losses in users among the 74 million Americans who voted for him.

Clearly, that hasn't happened. In early February, Twitter told investors that it added more daily users in January than the average number it had gained in that month during the past four years

Instacart is being valued at $39 billion in a new round of funding that will add $265 million to the grocery delivery company’s coffers. It’s the second time Instacart’s valuation has doubled since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Less than five months ago, Instacart raised $200 million in a deal that valued it at $17.7 billion.

According to Pitchbook, Instacart is now the second largest U.S.-based unicorn, behind SpaceX, Elon Musk’s space start-up that’s valued at $74 billion.

The adoption of grocery delivery has skyrocketed during the pandemic as consumer demand for grocery and convenience delivery and pickup services surged. “This past year ushered in a new normal, changing the way people shop for groceries and goods,” Instacart Chief Financial Officer Nick Giovanni said in a press release.

How short selling works
With this GameStop fiasco becoming widespread news, I've been asked hundreds of times "how does short-selling work" so here is quick and dirty of shorting a stock and how it differs from buying (or going long).
.
▪When you short a stock that stock needs to be borrowed & most often from your broker. Your broker can find a share to lend to you from his stock inventory OR even another client's portfolio. Once they have lent you that share you immediately sell it for cash. So in our example above you borrow a share, sell it at $100, and the hope you can buy it back CHEAPER and return the lent share with some money left over.
.
▪The danger here is that shorting stocks is much much riskier than going LONG a stock. When you short a stock @ $100/share you will be UP 100% if the stock goes to zero. However, if the stock goes up to $200 you are down 100%, if it goes to $300 you are down 200% ... since there is no cap on how high stocks can go your downside risk is technically infinite. Much like if you buy a stock there is no ceiling for how high it can go, or how much money you can make.
.
▪A short squeeze essentially happens when a heavily shorted stock begins to rise forcing shorts to cover, as they cover they have to buy... as they buy they push the stock higher... forcing other shorts to cover and become buyers... and so on. Squeeeeeze.

The Market:
Futures up about ~0.4%, SPY starting to consolidate between key levels $389 and $385.5. Also starting to form an inverse head and shoulders (bullish pattern), and if the pattern plays out we will see a breakout towards $393 level. Short term we could see downside towards $385.5, and as long as that support holds the pattern is still intact.

Space stocks getting to great entries for the 1-2 month swing leading into ARK catalyst. Looking to accumulate these plays for the sector getting hot when catalyst plays out, but will slowly be averaging in since there’s more short-term downside in a lot of these names. My main focuses: $SFTW, $SPCE, $SRAC, $HOL, $DM,$RTP, $NPA, $ACIC, $MAXR, $AONE.
The SPAC market also getting to some amazing risk/reward levels. Great adds on these pullbacks as pre-merger plays: $GSAH, $BTWN, $IPOD, $IPOF. All have rumors surrounding big deals, and getting closer to that $10 NAV floor so great for reduced risk plays.

Swing Plays for Today:
*Reminder: my buy/sell alerts is just what I’m doing and should just be used for ideas. Not every entry/exit will be perfect timing.
- PTON: forming inverse head and shoulders, breakout happens over $125 and should gap towards $130-135 if breakout plays out

- THMO: bouncing off support at $2.70, tiny market cap and 35%+ short float. Looking for it to test trendline soon and breakout, one of my closest watches right now and will look to start averaging in

- FDX: another one forming inverse H&S, breakout happens above $265 and has upside towards $280-290 on breakout. If pattern stays intact, FDX has really cheap calls

VISL: starting to breakout of cup and handle setup, the real breakout will happen over $5. Has over a 30% short float as well and small market cap. Likely to be huge runner soon imo

- BFI: testing breakout at resistance and forming cup and handle, could see big move soon. Tiny share float, will move quick if it breaks

- ZM: oversold, bounced off long term trendline support towards close. If it holds, we see a quick move back to $400 imo. Stop loss is if it breaks trendline at about ~$372

- EH: right towards end of descending triangle, we likely see a huge move short term. If it breaks towards upside, could see move towards $60-70

- CRSP: getting ready to test breakout out of downtrend, a break back over $135 likely sends it to $150

- YALA: one i’m watching close for a long term entry here, has huge growth and great fundamentals for being a newer company. Social network platform in middle-east kinda like clubhouse with voice chat rooms. Chart looks strong bouncing off 300 MA as support, also has negative catalyst coming up of insider lockup expiry on 3/29, so will be patient on the right entry for that reason.
Thesis hasn’t changed on everything not mentioned above

Just wanted to throw this out there today. For those that may be struggling with this correction, understand that these types of movements offer great opportunities (I'm sure many of you are sick of hearing this). Spend times like these managing your positions (if you currently have any), scout out more opportunities, and just breathe. Let the market do it's thing, there's nothing you or I can do about it. Maybe this provides a good lesson to those that believe the market only goes up.

However, don't let these moments pull you away from the stock market, as soon as you do we may instantly see the uptrend continue and you'll look back thinking what opportunities you missed. I cannot predict when this correction will be over, we can only motivate those to stay in the game and hunt for their next big play. We wish everyone the best and if you're struggling, reach out, we are here for all of you!

Why Use Options?
There are three main advantages to options:
1) Control,
2) Leverage and
3) Protection

Just as you can control a $200,000 house with a $20,000 down payment, you can control shares of a stock via an options contract. (One option contract controls 100 shares of stock). So with an option, you don’t “own” the shares, yet you’ve paid for the right to “control” them. Back to our house example, you only “own” the house once you’ve completely paid off the $200,000 mortgage. But you get to control the house and take advantage of the appreciation in the home’s value with the $20,000 down payment.

Option trading allows you to potentially increase your return on your money via leverage. Going back to the house example, if you own the house outright for $200,000 and it appreciates $20,000, then you’ve made a 10% gain on your investment in that home.

However, if you control the house for $20,000 and the home appreciates $20,000, then you’ve made a 100% gain on your invested capital. And so it is with options contracts. Yes, options carry risks, certainly. But they also offer up the potential for outsized gains which can help to make the risk worth
taking.

The main thing is to buy an option contract when there is a statistical edge. So that’s why I’m going to give you some simple strategies that will get you into an option contract in a timely fashion and give you a statistical edge in your trading. More on that in a bit…but for now, let’s talk about how you can use options to protect your capital.

Let’s say that you believe in a company and normally you’d buy shares of stock in the company. Let’s say that the stock’s price is $30 per share. It’s very common for someone to buy at least 100 shares of a company. So if you bought 100 shares at $30 per share, you’d have $3,000 tied up in the stock.

In other words, you’d have that much money at risk in that company. But there’s another way of doing this. You could buy an option contract (depending on the expiration month, strike price, etc.) for around $200-$300. (There’s protection because you’re risking roughly $300 rather than $3,000).

The Market:
Futures down about 0.5%, today likely to be a volatile day with the fed speaking, and depending what is said could move the market in a big way. Unfortunately, every time they open their mouth lately, they say something stupid to make the market go down. Important level of support on SPY is right at $378 for potential bounce, has further downside on a drop below. Short term resistance levels at $381 and $383.

The overall market hasn’t dropped that much (SPY down less than 1% in the past month), we’re still just seeing that sector shift of hype/growth plays towards value and re-opening trades. This is why the indexes haven’t sold off that much, since majority of growth names don’t control much of the index weight. This is a short term correction for tech and growth stocks imo. My plan moving forward is still look to slowly average in on these dips while staying heavy in cash - which is the most important thing right now.

Swing Plays for Today:
*Reminder: my buy/sell alerts is just what I’m doing and should just be used for ideas. Not every entry/exit will be perfect timing.

$DS: holding steady during market selloff, goes along with re-opening trades if those keep momentum, and has upside towards $5 on a break above $3.50. Support at 2.40 with stop below that level

$SOL: down over 50% from highs, had a past offering where institutions were buying at $25 per share. Just a watch candidate for now, Support levels at $12.5 and $10 for potential bounce

$NIO: getting close to testing major support level at $40, has lots of downside towards the mid $30’s if it can’t hold. Will likely depend on overall market trend, but has potential for big bounce off $40

$TSLA: potential entries for a bounce is if it holds $660/650 range, and on a drop below is on close watch towards low $600s for the bounce. Likely would be a day trade for me if setup plays out

$AYX: super oversold and nearing covid lows. Recent earnings were bad but selloff is way overdone imo, has major bounce potential when it can find support

$LULU: another one i’m watching for a bounce play, has strong support at $285 and oversold here

$VISL: gonna give the setup a couple weeks to see if breakout pattern plays out. Needs to get increased volume to see breakout play out

$NNDM: down over 50% from highs, had multiple offerings above $10 so selling way overdone imo. Has next support level at $8, i’ll be looking to add when it shows reversal strength

$TTD: starting to fill gap down towards $675, watching for a bounce once gap fills

Day Trade Setups for Today:
*Reminder: Day-Trading is very risky and only for those who understand the risks and how to read technical analysis!

Most people who get into trading don’t think to much about what it takes.

The emotional & psychological battle that you must master is in my opinion the hardest part of trading.

The Market:
Futures up slightly about 0.05% as of now, chance for oversold bounce today & likely see a very volatile day. SPY broke below the rising wedge pattern that it’s held the past several months, as of right now focusing on the support & resistance levels until next pattern comes up.
Levels to watch on SPY: Support at $375, $372, $370. Resistance at $378, $381, $383.

Looking for long positions:$NNOX, $RMO, $NNDM, $YALA, $DM, $STIC,$ HYLN, $U, $CLOV, $BFI, $CCIV, $CRSP, $SKLZ, $PTON, $NIO, $TTCF. - Will be looking into LEAPS (long term options) on some of these when i feel the time is right.
Nobody knows when the market will bottom out and when the sectors getting hit will bounce. A lot of these stocks are down 50%+ from highs, if you are buying great companies you’re confident in at cheap valuations (so many opportunities out there right now), that is always a winning strategy if you’re patient.
It is 100% up to you to do what you’re comfortable in with this market. I give everything i’m buying & plans moving forward, but always make sure you have your own thesis on every trade, control risk management, etc.
Like i’ve said i personally think the market bounces in a big way within the next couple weeks, that does not mean i’m going all in on positions right now.
Short-term setup wise, there’s not many patterns to play off of right now. I’m personally focusing on playing off the huge daily volatility like I have been & playing those oversold bounces.
Swing Plays for Today:
*Reminder: my buy/sell alerts is just what I’m doing and should just be used for ideas. Not every entry/exit will be perfect timing.

SPY at support levels said above

PTON - $100 & $95 support levels

SHOP - support at $1080

TSLA - $600, $570, $560 support levels

TTD - $600, $550 support levels

SQ - $210, $200, $195 support levels

SPOT - $280, $255 support levels

AMD - $75 support

My closest watches for day-trade with calls. All have liquid options so easy to scalp bounces off support levels. Will not force any trades if the setup isn’t there, but if we get the panic selling like we’ve seen at open the past couple of days, there will be a lot of day-trade reversal setups to play off of.
Reminder: if it’s a longer term thesis for me, i have no plans of selling anytime soon. Will look to average down on these plays when the time is right - no need to over-leverage in current market conditions. Patience is key

If you ever want to do anything great with your life, you must stop believing those who say you can’t. Naysaying always comes from the mouths of people who never did it themselves. Instead, start believing those who say you can, and most of all... believe in yourself.
