Wow, the way and rate at which young Nigerians throw money away under the guise of ''I'm still young and I can take higher risks'' is alarming. Nothing is wrong with the sentence in the quote but what's particularly devastating is taking such risk without proper due diligence.

100k with inflation at 16%
What is the average inflation for the past 10 years? It can't be 16%

A company does it for most of the microfinance banks in Lagos, you can do a Google search.

You can also sent someone to verify the information filled by the prospective tenant in the Know Your Tenant form

It doesn’t take a genius to predict that one or two of these fintech ‘asset managers’ will go bust in the near future. Na that time all man eyes go clear.

The way they operate makes them very susceptible to a downturn in market conditions. Especially when they start investing money directly in the markets.
hmmmmm

Just thought I'd drop this here. You can earn while you sleep.

Anyone who owns a foreign currency account that is denominated in Pounds, Euro or USD can earn as high as 5% interest on short 7 days or long term investment.

All you need to do is sign up and fully verify your account with Binance.com
It is the largest crypto currency exchange in the world by trade exchange volume.

You are not the one investing in crypto, they do the Investment with the money while they guarantee your capital and interest payments is made on daily basis.

I think they are supposed to be a platform for small investors to invest their money indirectly in stocks and funds managed by SEC approved fund managers.

So if small investors buy stocks or invest their money using these platforms, the platform takes the money to invest through brokers and fund managers and charges a fee (to the small investors) which it shares with brokers and fund managers. This makes sense.

My only concern is when they ‘safelock’ money and guarantee returns. In this case, they will be investing the money themselves. That is risky.

I saw a video where one of them said they invested earlier in long term bonds and that this allows them to continue to pay out higher interest rates in a low interest market. The question is where did a start up with no money get the funds to buy up so many bonds? What happens if interest rates go up in the future and they are still holding these old long term bonds?

Also, how is the same AICO that is ‘managing’ their funds not able to offer the same 13%? One of AICO’s marketers posted a very pitiful 3% offer here a few days ago.
Mogbe!!

Ehnn... I "Safelock" 20M with piggyvest o. And I got exactly 13% interest paid upfront. Make I no go hear story on my capital maturity o. shocked

Thanks.

I was also interested in the timeline and possible impact on FX (supply and rates) when the refinery starts, given the news of buying and selling in Naira.

We are talking of a retiree and his wife spending 100k a month in the village. He is not farming. He can grow the tomatoes he needs in his garden.

If a basket of tomatoes is 25k in Lagos, definitely it will be far lower than that in a village in Kano that i used as example. Moreover, a retiree with his wife living in such a village cannot consume a basket of tomatoes in a month in such a village. Dem dey chew am raw every morning?.

let's take the lowest price, N14,000 per a bucket, a production that gives about 100 liters of paint per day will bring you N70,000 every day. You can easily calculate that in a month, such a production will give you about N2,000,000. N22,000,000 in a year are a good reason to start paint business in Nigeria

Medical was not included in the trend of the discussion. The originator of the discourse said a healthy retiree.

Even in the city, 100m a month might not be enough for a retiree.

I know but i was only following your lead of inclusion of medical. One medical need by a retiree can wipe off N100m. Don't you think so?.

Wa o. An agriculture graduate doing that. Even if she did not enter a farm during her studies, at least she was taught the theories of farming and the various risks inherent in agriculture. She should be given 3m lashes of cane. grin
