It is very doable. I would advise that your husband not apply for an F2 visa. You and your kids can go first and he can come to visit on a B1/B2 visa. The VO will want to know that you have a base back home and there is less concern about the ability to take care of the kids financially since your husband is working here and providing support.

Thanks for the prompt response. I do appreciate your advise. May God bless you.

Nice job but then it’s too wordy. May I ask why you don’t want to go with your child? The boy is still very young. Do you think you would be granted a visa if you decide not to go with your son? There are people here in the U.S that did this same thing with the hope that the hubby and child would come over later but they got denied. All you need is to provide a bank statement that can cater for you both.

Go to your program page and read on what the program will offer you. You can rewrite that in your own words to answer the question ‘why did you choose Troy University?” The school being designated as military friendly has nothing to do with the reason you picked it. It only means the school offers post-military education. Are you in the military in Nigeria? Talk on what you stand to gain from the school.

Please can we all contribute to this please I think someone had something similar to this last two years on this thread , I received my i-20 for the fall semester yesterday and this was what I was seeing in the i-20, at the left hand side tuition fees and living expenses altogether is $22,300 , at the right hand side of the i-20 students funding for 9 months, personal funds $0 , funds coming from the school $0, Father $55,000 because father was used as the sponsor. This actually means that the school calculated the SOA of my father and then put $55,000 there, please aren't you seeing this as a problem and that this might confuse the VO, since the amount in both sides are different? Please anyone with similar experience or that have idea of what I am talking about can contribute. Oga @fairheart and Co please what is your take on this. Screenshot photo below to see what I'm saying.

Not an issue at all. It only shows your sponsor have enough in his bank account to sponsor your education all through the duration. Some schools round up sponsor’s account balance to the nearest figure of the COA. But in your case the whole amount in your sponsor’s account balance was rounded up. You are safe.

It's not an issue of oil on your head, it's practical reality. Yes you studied at a top Nigerian school with scholarships - the key here is the school was in YOUR country, where you are a citizen. I doubt the same scholarship would have been available to a foreign student from Kenya, and I'm very sure it's not because the foreign student had no oil.

It is likely that schools in the US would reserve scholarships in the liberal arts to US citizens and residents. Most scholarships you may read of here are largely in the sciences. I don't see a lot of those in the arts unless you are a prodigious talent.

But don't let that deter you from searching.
You are right. I totally agree with you. Their citizens comes first before any other person.

Thank you for your response. The children are actually three but a family of five. I get your point, is the reason why the spouse also wants to follow in order to provide support for the wife while her program is ongoing.
Okay. Some VOs tho. Do your research well.

Hi guys,

Asking for a friend

She gained admission and her uncle wants to sponsor her coupled with her savings.
The course she's going for is completely different from her academic background and current job, however, a career change is the goal as she intends to move to a different country after school(almost gotten her Permanent Residency) and practice in the new field.

Do you think she stands a good chance of getting the visa if she shares all these at the interview?

Please we will like as many takes on the matter as possible.

Thanks

Hello,

I have submitted some applications for masters degree in USA and waiting for decision. I am positive I would be admitted because I submitted a strong application.

My concern is with the F1 visa interview, I am not big on funding as I am capable of funding myself. The main issue is will there be red flags if I am sponsoring myself?

How best can I position myself in front of the VO? what do I need to work on?

Please enlighten me on the pros and cons of sponsoring yourself for graduate school(masters).

Thank you

I don't think she has anything to worry about, as long as she's already working in the new said field

What kind of place do you work? how much do you have? If you're sponsoring yourself and your parents are not involved, then you should have almost times 2 of your COA so that the V.O won't think you'd starting working to pay for your second year or go out of status. Alternatively, If you have a good business here that you can go to the embassy with its bank statement, that would be good too. If you have none of this, still prepare well and try your luck. People have done this and gotten approved before.

She’s not working in the new field yet.

One of her major concerns is that she doesn’t plan to come back to Nigeria. Can they deny her because there are no strong home ties?

Thanks for your swift response.

Made much of it through network marketing, I should have x2 of my COA is that enough?

I have a company but the company does not have enough cash flow yet, (should I start building it? wont it be too late?)

Can the company help in any way? I have 2 in Nigeria and 1 in the UK but not enough cash flow tho, Just registered them for a business Idea I have. Is there any way I can use the company(s) to strengthen my application?

I have another question, I am close to getting married, should I marry now and apply together with my wife? or should I apply alone and then come back for marriage later?

I will appreciate your response on this as well. Thank you

Good day all.
So I got an admission for an MSc program (Environmental Science) in the US with no funding. Although the Program Director told me that they are working on additional funding (Which I cannot rely on) and will inform me if there is any update regarding funding.

The total funds required for one academic is about $34,000 (All Fees including living expenses). I am thinking about accessing loan for the Program through one of the agency mentioned on this thread. And a friend is willing to gift me some funds as well. I can be able to take care of Visa Fee, SEVIS Fee and Flight fare.

I want to know from those who are already based in the US if this is worth the risk, most especially with the loan repayment.

All opinions are welcome.

Thank You
Please I need input. Thanks.

Don't risk it if you do not have the funds or a defined way to cover your loans. Hopefully your scholarship comes through.
