Prominent businessman Prince Alex Mbata, has built a two kilometer road in new Owerri area of the Imo State capital.

It is a dual carriage way with street lights as approved by the Imo state government.

The businessman’s efforts, according to those close to him, is to complement the ongoing rehabilitation of roads being carried out by the Uzodimma Administration in Imo State.

If the Supreme Court governor is fixing all these roads in Owerri, Abagworo, which durable roads did Rochas construct then?

I just hope we have passed the era of China roads so that the next administration will not return to rehabilitating these roads again.

Government is a continuum and where Okorocha couldn't build Uzodimma will do as much as he can while the next Governor also adds more. No government can finish everything even with all the funds in the world otherwise Udom Emmanuel wouldn't still be busy building roads or maintaining and rehabilitating the ones he inherited from Akpabio.

Uzodinma would have achieved more if he just continued with many of Okorocha's important projects like the Hospital he demolished to bring back open market when he could have easily converted it to a mall or rehabilitated it as a Hospital to serve the people. Those parks demolished by Ihedioha like the Akachi tower and Freedom park should be rehabilitated and made vibrant again for comfort of tourists while new ones are created at other parts of town. The new Cargo Airport, industrial park at Egbema, Hospitals concessioned to missionaries which Ihedioha revoked should be returned to them while 2 are chosen from each zone to run as cheaper government Hospitals. If he can do these in addition to the roads then Imo will go far in just few years.

Another important factor is to desist from playing politics with private investments especially landed properties. Owerri grew astronomically under Okorocha because he allowed the private sector to operate with ease and encouraged serious investors by giving them land or even putting up either government or private investments. Uzodinma should emulate that not condemn it.

By my assessment Uzodinma is better than Ihedioha cause he's doing things we can see but they share same problem of working hard to dwindle Okorocha's popularity instead of working hard to improve their own popularity.

These bullcrap I highlighted is the main reason we keep electing crooks... government is continuum shit.

I don't know much about politics but why can't these guys build quality roads that will last, most of the good roads in Imo state are the ones built far back by Sam Mbakwe. Why can't these new crooks build something stronger so when someone new comes in they focus on another project, it's all the same fvcking road every time with inferior material....

No. Most of the good roads in Owerri and Imo are the ones built by Okorocha. The Mbakwe roads were under steady repairs and reasphalting by all his successors until Okorocha came and added so many more roads as well as expanding and maintaining those of Mbakwe. It us still the same roads that Uzodinma is rehabilitating not building new ones.

But why did it take them years to construct poly-iheagwa road?. Sen Hope is doing a fantastic job. Not really self centered like those who build because their properties are around there.

I suggest by next year the Governor should ensure aggressive development in Okigwe city center.
After the construction of ow-okigwe road, Most state functions should be shifted to this okigwe center to ensure inclusive governance and encourage economic activities.

With the release of the 'Govt white paper on lands' i expect demolishons in weeks to come

Only primitive minded people and retrogressive government will place more emphasis on demolitions and destruction instead of rebuilding and reconstruction.

Yes, they should demolish more and more, and when they leave government, the next administration will continue their own demolitions too, that's how people achieve development.

The government is not interested in constructing anything, it's interested in demolishing

It's a vicious cycle we found ourselves in. Right from the time of Rochas till present administration, they keep building very substandard roads in the state. Hope has continued from where Rochas stopped in this regard. I drive through Orlu road daily and each time I feel terribly bad at the disgraceful road rehabilitation they are doing there. This is nothing but patch-patch work that even a layman knows that last one rainy season. Then the question is, why award a mediocre road construction that can't even last a year! Does it mean we will keep rebuilding a particular road annually instead of wisely doing it once and for all? Why are we decieving ourselves??

Look at the quality of roads other states are constructing Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Kano, Kaduna and even Abia, yes Abia! But here in Imo State it's a different story altogether. Instead of people to call out the state government about this shame they would rather turn themselves to psychophants.

Now, fuel price is #212 naira per liter yet you will end up wasting it all in unnecessary traffic gridlock that was caused due to the demolitions of roundabouts all over the city.

The government is frustrating the life of citizens in Owerri but no one is calling a spade a spade.

God will help the people.

If u use a map to look at Owerri, Owerri is a very small city.

As small as it is, instead of expanding the city u are demolishing the ones people have built.

Till today ask Hope Uzodinma to tell u his investment in imo since he. Has been in politics for 20years he can't point out any thing to u.

Even as governor he won't invest in the state cause I know he knows all these things he is doing another governor would want to do it to him, so to avoid it he takes all our money to abuja to invest

Hope uzodinma fighting and trying to erase rochas legacy is because he knows the people him staying there is not legitimate.

The people who brought him to power all of them are out.

Oshiomole is no longer in power, Abba kyari is dead, Buhari is leaving in 2023. How would he cling on to that power.

He is not even sure of re election, that's y he is treating imolites with such ruthlessness

The day I knew he was wasting his time in imo government house was where he shut his own self in the foot by inviting the military on his own home town in Orlu and foolishly going to abuja to brag about it, like seriously.

2023 during imo guber election all the opposition will be doing is to be playing that video everywhere. Go to AIT even pay facebook to be playing it over and over again as Advert on everybody who is going to votes facebook page. Then when the time is right use Nnamdi Kanu start propaganda against him in the east then watch the matter cast

I hope we know that that panel on land distortion in imo and owerri in particular was constituted by ihedioha admin not hope..he just allowed it to continue and they are the people that came out with that white paper gazette that has given that their verdicts on illegal land acquisitions mostly done under rochas administration and also recommended some properties for demolition.

Also if you want to see the gazetted white paper on lands I can share it here

Useless man. Okorocha succeeded in looting the state dry. Me made IMO state okorocha family affair.
Ihedioha short stay of 7 months is far better than okorocha 8years.
Hospital built without design
Somto hospital now destroyed looked like a shit
Okorocha built a bridge no vehicle can pass through , substandard and dilapidated bridge.
He sold IMO state land to members of his family and u call them investors.
For over 8 years he could not build a housing unit but his wife Theo office of the first lady looted state resources to build Akanchawa towers.
Don't worry all you family looters will pay for it.
Useless people

I've read the paper from beginning to end and all I saw in it are recommendations for reversal of Okorocha's land use policies that saw the growth and development of Owerri. I can post some excerpts for some people to get the idea of the crap called white paper.

Uzodinma yesterday recommissioned and renamed one of Okorocha's free health care centers in Imo State known as Imo Health Foundation. It was fully completed and functional from 2014 till 2019. Let truth always lead.

Based on the whitepaper the issue is that Okorocha opened up so many new layouts and also changed purpose of use in others not that he personally took lands. The committee tried as much as possible to find fault in all his land use policies making it seem wrong that housing and real estate development increased under Okorocha.

you haven't answered my question...flooding increased tremendously under Okorocha..those places that were turned to something else against the masterplan of owerri are supposed to be allowed to stand?

In essence Owerri should have remained constrained to Douglas and Ikenegbu without expansion. Okorocha creating alternative routes and reclaiming eroded lands for roads and estates is a positive development and masterplan is subject to adjustment by a Governor based on peculiarity of his time. Both Udenwa and Ohakim also modified masterplan but this whitepaper said their own followed due process whereas that of Okorocha didn't. One cannot say that removal of mechanics from Orji and Naze moving them to a more organized place at Avu caused increased flooding. In all my view remains that Imo will be better if Uzodinma continues with Okorocha's already manifesting plans while adding his own modifications than working hard to kill them and start afresh

If layouts approved by a Governor are declared illegal then what legitimizes a layout is not Governor's consent? Maybe Okorocha's own Governor is different from Chime who approved an estate at former Enugu zoo or that of Wike that approved flyovers along Aba road. Maybe a new government whitepaper will declare them illegal cause they are not in Port-Harcourt masterplan.

I prefer Hope Uzodinma to Ihedioha, he seems to be putting structures he inherited in use.
As for the white paper, land owners are rectifying their structures with the ministry of lands and OCDA, nobody is gonna loss lands already acquired.
Like for instance formal shell camp that was sold Leo stan Ekeh, orange drugs and even Pascal Dozie, is what you want to recover ?
