The suspect, Ime Martin, who was paraded alongside other suspects at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, yesterday, by the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said boldly before newsmen, “I was drunk when I committed the act.”

It was learned that the victim (names withheld) started living with the family at five years, and the suspect was said to have started defiling her last year.

He was alleged to have raped her severally before he was arrested.

The victim told reporters: “He slept with me twice, first when I was 14 years old last year and the second time was last Sunday, when my aunty and her son traveled. The first time, I reported to my aunty, when my aunty confronted him, he denied it.

“He said I was careless and probably I had left the door open and an unknown person had come to rape me. He sounded so convincing and my aunty believed him.

On Tuesday April 12, Rivers State Police Command released photos of captured suspected criminals in the state. Among the suspects paraded was a woman identified as Mrs. Abigail Brown who kidnapped her two children to get ransom from her husband.
According to a statement issued by the Command on Wednesday, April 13, Mrs Brown and husband’s former driver, identified as ThankGod, connived to kidnap her two children, aged 2 and 10. The suspects then called the husband to pay a ransom in order to secure their release. Brown who had earlier denied the allegation against her, later but later confessed to the crime claiming she that “it was frustration that made her to commit the crime as she had no means of survival.”
She claimed that her husband had abandoned her and the two children to suffer, adding that the kidnap was the only means of making some money from her husband. She had abducted her two children, and hid them in her sister’s place and was awaiting the ransom from the husband before she was apprehended by the police.
“I did it because of frustration. My husband abandoned me and my children. Since he left us and went away, I have been suffering with my children, and I know that he has money. I only did it to make him bring money for me to take care of the children we had together.” she said.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has lamented his team’s 3-2 defeat to the Red Devils of Congo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played in Calabar on Saturday.
Efe Ambrose had given the Super Eagles the lead in the 14th minute before a brace from Thierry Bifouma inspired a comeback win for Claude Le Roy’s men.

Speaking after the game, the former Mali and Togo gaffer said he wasn’t satisfied with the way his team played in the first half despite instructing them to be aggressive.

"I’m very disappointed. It was not just the result but the way we played in the first half. I was like a soothsayer because I saw it coming and I talked to the boys that they had to be aggressive and first to the ball,” Keshi said after the game.

"I’ve played against the Congolese team before and I know they play tip-tap football. We scored the first goal and that was it.

"It’s a shame that we had opportunities, mostly in the second half, but we could not score,” Keshi said immediately after the game,” he continued.

"I told them they were not playing their game. They were not themselves, they were not playing, they were second to the ball and they needed to change the mentality.

"They came back in the second half and you could see the difference. But if you are playing a team like this, they are going to come hard and park the bus. And that’s what they did in the second half. Who won’t do it?

"I can understand the frustration, the Congolese team delaying the game, killing the game. It became an anger problem and its part of the game.

"It’s football. Brazil lost 7-1 and we lost today (Saturday). Everybody is going to lose someday. We cannot win all the games all the time. This is where we need the media and Nigerians. They have to be behind the team, so that we can go to South Africa and win,” he concluded.

Nigeria are now placed third in Group A of the qualifiers behind leaders South Africa defeated Sudan 3-0 while Congo sit in second place.

ONLINE PAYMENT
1. Prospective students will visit putme.lasu.edu.ng and select MAKE PAYMENT option in the drop down list at the top, to make the required payment of N2,000 for the 2014/2015 LASU Post UTME screening exercise.
The prospective student would be required to submit the following:
a)JAMB Registration Number;
b) Surname, First name, Middle name, and
c)Email Address and telephone number (both must be active and personal to the applicant)

2. Click on PROCEED

3. On the next page, a TRANSACTION ID to be used for PAYMENT would be displayed. The candidate should copy this TRANSACTION ID and proceed for PAYMENT at http://www.quickteller.com/lasu

4. On http://www.quickteller.com/lasu page,
(i) Click on PAY
(ii) Enter your email address, GSM number
(iii) Also enter the Transaction ID copied in step 3 above
(iv) Proceed to enter details of your ATM card
(v) Click Process payment
(vi) Print your Payment receipt from the screen. A transaction message will be sent to your email and GSM, hence the need to use your personal E-mail address and GSM number.

POST UTME REGISTRATION
1. After successful payment for LASU 2014/2015 Post UTME screening exercise, return to putme.lasu.edu.ng and select CONTINUE REGISTRATION option in the drop down list at the top.

2. Prospective candidates should enter the required details (JAMB Registration Number, Surname and Mode of Entry – UME or DE).

3.Click on PROCEED button to load the Registration Form. Each applicant is expected to complete the registration form by providing the following information.

Candidates will be required to upload a scanned copy of their passport size photograph (File Size: Not more than 20KB; File format: JPEG [i.e. ‘.jpg’]).

Application for change of passport photograph by the candidates given provisional admission shall NOT be allowed. This same passport photograph, uploaded by such candidates, will be used on their degree certificates.

ONLY ONE CHOICE OF COURSE OF STUDY IS ALLOWED

Carefully study the agreement form. If you agree to the stated terms, click on the ‘I agree’ button on the left-hand side of the page.

Candidates must possess five (5) O’ Level credits in subjects relevant to their desired course of study at not more than two sittings.

Credit in English Language is compulsory for admission into all courses in Lagos State University.

Candidates awaiting the result of NABTEB, WAEC (May/June) and NECO (June/July) 2014, are eligible to apply.

Note that any examination taken after July 2014 shall not be accepted. Make sure you print your Registration Form/Slip as this serves as your entry ticket into the
Screening hall.

Candidate should know that both payment and registration would end two (2) weeks before the advertised date of the Screening Test.

Candidate should visit www.putme.lasu.edu.ng a week before the advertised date of the Screening Test to check the Sitting Arrangement and reprint the Registration Slip.
