Atouke: Since you stressed mathematics, logic and proportion as the bases of the "Almajiri logic" that you and your hero Kwankwaso are espousing , you missed the major point of my argument which is that in Nigeria States were not created based on population or land mass, If these were to be the yardstick then lagos with the population of about 20 million people should be divided into about 5 states of 4 million population apiece which is about the average population of Nigerian states.and if land mass was the yardstick then Brono and Niger should have about 8 to 10 state apiece since they are about 8 to 10 times the size of lagos.
My point is that States in Nigeria were created on the bases of geopolitical balance and in that regards barring any injustice or inequity, the South East as a matter of urgent National Interest and unity deserve an additional state to bring their regional quota to 6 states which is the national Average per region.
If Equity and proportion were the major motivation for Kwankwaso flawed logic: 1).why hasn't he decry the inequity of Kano having 44 LGA with a lesser population than lagos which has higher population but fewer LGA's? 2).Why hasn't he decry the injustice of Kano Alone having more LGA than almost all the SE States put together, which end up attracting more federal funding to Kano state on the bases of it LGA size in the detriment of state like Lagos and the whole SE. 3)Why hasn't Kwankwaso Decry the injustice of the SS having to support and carry the weight of the North and other unviable states and regions in this country?
If indeed the likes of Kwankwaso were facing the injustice of contributing the revenue and the resources that funds Nigeria like the South currently does, Needless to say there will be no Nigeria today, and thats a fact! |
Politics › Re: “it Is The Northerners Who Deserve Another State, Not The South East” Arewa by poundlander: 3:06pm On Mar 26, 2015 |
Atouke: what has land mass and Population got to do with state creation? whats the population and land mass of Rhode island compared to the population Of texas? Whats the population and land mass of Delaware compared to that of California? Bringing it back home whats the population and land mass of Ekiti or Bayelsa compared to Lagos or Oyo? The two are diametrically opposed,
States in Nigeria are created based on Geopolitical zones All other zones have 6 or more states Except the South East, That's an imbalance that needs to be corrected as it affects the political well being and milieu of the SE in terms of u representation as they have less ministerial Appointment, Less house of representative members, less Senators, Less federal Allocation etc compared to geopolitical zones with 6 or more states.
Kwankwaso as usual is reasoning like a true "born to rule" imperialist that believes that the South of the country is supposed to be enslaved by the North with no Rights at all, But too bad for him Nigeria of today is not the Nigeria of the 70's, 80's or 90's where the "born to rule" did as they pleased with no one to challenge them. Kwankwaso and his fellow born to rule should wake up and smell the coffee, we are in a New Nigeria where the reasoning and Attitudes of the past is best left in the past.
Going forward every Nigerian must be treated with respect, equity and justice irrespective of where they come from, The Enjoyment of majority status in the Nigerian congress by the NW where Kwankwaso is from is sweet for him, Having and equal strength in the SE will be justice granted, for what is good for the Goose is equally good for the Gander! Long live Nigeria Long live GEJ Viva the new SE state! let's try to be objective in our arguments. Kwankwazo clearly raised a lot of salient points, even if you choose to disagree. he analysed that the south south and south east jointly have a population of 37 million plus, while the north west alone has a population of over 35 million. The SS & SE have 11 Govs, 33 senators and 66 Reps representing the over 37 million people while the NW have 7 Govs, 21 senators ànd 42 Reps representing them. MATHEMATICALLY, LOGICALLY, PROPORTIONALLY WHO REALLY NEED MORE STATE You confessed that Lagos and Oyo also have larger population, yet they are not complaining. Isn't it quite ironical that those that have more representatives and states with far less population compared to others are the one complaining. I think they are really asking for too much. Kwankwanso wasn't agitating for state creation, but only stated that if additional states are to be created, his region should be considered first based on EQUALITY. please note that I clearly stick to the issue raised, I will appreciate if my character is not assassinated just the way you did to Kwankwanso while reacting to his opinion. long live Nigeria |

ujoinme: Keep calculating and analysing, Eye go clear you and APC when GEJ wins the election including most of the Northern states on March 28, While APC is busy campaigning on newspapers and on online platform, PDP is busy campaigning in the 774 LGA and wards doing the needful. Victory belong to hard workers not noise makers. for your mind abi? today Buhari is having a town hall meeting, the other day Osibanjo is having a one-on-one meeting with community leaders, the next day Aisha Buhari and Osibanjo wife are touring the states to meet with their female colleagues. Fashola never cease campaigning for GMB in Lagos and you said they are not campaigning enough. if the opposition can do the above with the little time, i think they have tried enough. Talking of Technology, Jonathan blamed his inability to pay federal worker salaries last yuletide on technology they just adopted to curb ghost worker and other fraudulent means people defraud the government. The PDP crew accepted it has a welcome development, even though it was at the expense of the populace. Why is INEC an exception in the use of Technology to curb electoral fraud, even though its not at the expense of the populace unlike the PDP-led government. In card reader we stand. This 2015 election is not about Freshair, because we know better now. Lets give APC a chance too, afterall, its a Fresh Party. Long Live Nigeria!!! |
