A start up farm with base in south south and other open field location in Nigeria seeks Young and vibrant Nigerian for the position below:
POSITION: FARM COORDINATOR.
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
• Develop and manage the farms greenhouse, net house and hydroponics project
• Planning and setting up grain and vegetable production and other small animal
• collection of agronomical data for all trials;
• Assist in preparing field books and field plan for all trials;
• Assist in preparing randomization tables for field trials
• Initiate and follow up land acquisition land preparation for planting and management of resources;
• supervision of subordinates in the routine fields and screen houses operations;
• seed preparation, planting of trials and maintenance of trials in Ibadan and other out stations;
• supervising threshing, cleaning and safe storage of seed;
• Assist in setting up hybridization nursery in screen house;
• Record pedigree information of all newly developed lines;
• Support in thrips and aphids rearing;
• Assist in phenotyping of Bambara groundnut in addition to Cowpea
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
• OND, HND, or BSc in agriculture related field
• 2-5 years of work experience, with at least 2 years of experience developing and executing agricultural projects
• Ability and willingness to travel long distance to market with produce
• Ability and willingness to relocate
• Ability and willingness to live and work in a rural community
• Experience in commercial farming management will be preferable
• management including irrigation and management of simple farm machinery will be preferable
• Demonstrated aptitude for effective leadership of staff
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
In addition, Candidate should be IT savvy, have ability to work independently and possess good business development acumen.

The problem with most people is that they cannot deliver or work without supervision. its not about earning huge salary... Its about what you can bring on. When we interview people here, we usually ask the question and offer to give them open cheques if they promise to increase profitability by X percent.

If i have a farm that is raking in 500,000 a month and i have bills to pay. I show you may book and ask if you can triple it 6-12 months and we negotiate a price. But it usually never turns out well. Sadly.

some of this agric promoters are not anything to write home about.
they make money by organizing training, selling suckers, seeds, lands and fingerlings and setting up farms for new entrys like me. But there are not successful farmers. Pls.
is agric profitable,
what are the risk
which has more market/off takers cropping or livestock?
can i be directed to two or three successful irrigation
farmers for mentoring/advise.
