Politics › Group Warned Gov Fayose by praise007(op): 3:49pm On Jan 19, 2016 |
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has
warned Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose
against reckless statement capable of
undermining the nation’s democracy..
The group claimed that Fayose’s comment that
the ongoing investigation, ordered by President
Muhammadu Buhari, into the involvement of
immediate past military chiefs in scams in the
purchase of arms could motivate the military
toppling Buhari’s government, was least
expected of his office as a governor.
The group, in a statement signed by its Director,
Professor Ishaq Akintola described Fayose’s
comment as unnecessary warning, distasteful
and alarming.
“It is short in sincerity but long in hypocrisy. It
is also provocative. It falls within the rank of
hate speech and incitement,” MURIC noted.
According to the Rights body, “There is no
gainsaying the fact that there has been no love
lost between Governor Ayodele Fayose and
President Buhari. The governor has never been
known to wish the president well. Is this not
the same governor who placed a full-page
death-wish advertisement in the newspaper
before the presidential elections? This same
governor has become known for his blind and
unobjective criticism of Buhari’s policies since
the inception of this administration. So who is
he trying to scare?”
Continuing, it said, “Fayose’s opposition to the
current war against corruption should therefore
not surprise anyone. His allergy for probity and
accountability led him to insist that he would
not embrace the Treasury Single Account (TSA)
policy. We shall know them by their fruits. Just
yesterday, Sokoto State was able to discover
N1.5 billion excess through the TSA. This alone
proves that TSA is in our best interest. So who
is Fayose deceiving? What purpose does his
grandstanding serve?
“We remind the Nigerian Army that military rule
has become an anachronism. Any involvement
of the military in politics is a misadventure.
Nigerians have not only breathed the air of
democracy, they have tasted its delicious juice.
They have bitten, chewed and swallowed its
fulfilling morsels. There is no going back. Let no
frustrated politician deceive our soldiers.
Nigerians have long declared a caveat emptor:
military rule must not come back again.” |

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, has threatened to expose the misdeeds of former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari during his reign as Petroleum Minister and Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Funds, PTF.

“He is a one-time Minister of Petroleum and we have good records of his tenure as minister.
“Secondly, he also presided over the Petroleum Trust Fund ( PTF) which records we also have.
“We challenge him to come out with clean hands in those two portfolios he headed. Or, we will help him to expose his. “records of performance during those periods,” Babangida, popularly referred to as IBB said.

A lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, Mr. Vincent Obetta, has said “there is nothing irregular” about the apology tendered by his client to President Muahammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for his “uncomplimentary” comments against them.
Obetta was earlier quoted in online reports as denying that his client tendered such apology as exclusively reported by The PUNCH.
But the lawyer, in a statement which he sent to our correspondent on Thursday, explained that what he denied on behalf of his client was speculation that Kanu had written letters of apology to Buhari, Jonathan and Igbo elders.
He confirmed that Kanu tendered the apology in his statement to the Department of State Service on realising that some of the things he said against Buhari and others were uncomplimentary considering the culture and values of the African society.
He said, “I denied the ruse making the rounds that my client apologised via a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and some Igbo elders.
“I also challenged any reporter to forward to me a copy of the written letter addressed to the President et al. I still maintain my ground that my client Mazi Nnamdi Kanu did not address any letter of apology whatsoever to Buhari, Jonathan and Igbo elders.
“However, I am aware that in the course of making his statements to the SSS (DSS), he acknowledged the fact that certain words he used on these persons/elders during his broadcast were ‘uncomplimentary’ considering the culture and values of the African society to which he belongs.
“He further stated that he might write a letter of apology to the President to express his regret over the use of such words on him. But up until this moment, such letter, to my knowledge, has not been written. And I challenge anybody that has a copy of such to make it public.”
The PUNCH had reported that Kanu in an October 23, 2015 statement which he made to the DSS, expressed regrets for referring to President Buhari, as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile in a broadcast on Radio Biafra.
The PUNCH had however reported that the 48-year-old pro-Biafra agitation leader, who has been in the custody of the DSS since his arrest in Lagos on October 14, 2015, was unapologetic in his statement about his demand for a Republic of Biafra.

Politics › Re: Christmas: Ekiti State Workers Unhappy With Fayose by praise007: 7:31pm On Dec 21, 2015 |
alberson: Civil servants in Ekiti state have lamented the non- payments of salaries by the administration of Governor Ayodele Fayose. Some of the workers in the state who spoke with our correspondent in Ado-ekiti said the governor is owing them 3 months salaries but has paid a minute percentage of their basic take home as Christmas bonus. This, the workers said is a complete departure from what transpired during the administration of Kayode Fayemi. “Why must it be us that will always bear the brunt of every bad situation? When things are going well they are the ones that enjoy most and when things are not fine they still enjoy and we the masses suffer it. When other states have started paying December salaries, for example Cross River state we are here still hoping that we would get October salaries. This is not fair. “Do you know what our governor does? He goes round the state telling people he is open and that it is this and that but he all that does not affect his own convenience ooo. I don’t know how a governor will not be deeply worried that his people are suffering and not getting paid regularly. He will always put the blame on someone and that usually is the president,” Mr Koleosho disclosed. Some of the workers who spoke to Naij.com complained of the sudden change in the attitude of the governor, Ayodele Fayose to the plights of workers in the state adding that unlike past administrations they are being paid a paltry 10 percentage of their basic salary as Christmas bonus. Mr Taiwo, a local government employees in Ekiti state says his son just got into university, and he can barely raise the money to pay his fees because salary is not coming as at when due. “During former Governor Fayemi’s administration I was paid ₦8,000 as Christmas bonus but Fayose paid me ₦2,992. What does he want us to do with that in this period where only fuel scarcity can consumed times 5 of that amount in a day?” Mrs Anifowese, a level 9 primary school teacher lamented. A cross section of the workers were of the opinion that the governor should squarely face the herculean task of governing the state, instead of preoccupying himself with being the most outspoken opposition governor in Nigeria. A teacher in one of the public schools in Ikere-ekiti, a town 10 minutes’ drive from the state capital, Mr Adesanya said that the governor has failed woefully in meeting the expectations of workers in the state. “So far, he has failed completely. He doesn’t even care that much as he used to when he first became the governor of our state. He is not the kind of governor we voted for. He said he has changed and those things he promised us have not materialized. And he doesn’t seem to care that is the most annoying things.” Responding to a question raised by a civil servant during a recent meeting with workers in Ado-ekiti that she cannot pay her children’s school fees because of the delay in salary payments, Governor Fayose was alleged to have angrily replied that he would not sell his children to pay workers’ salaries. According to a primary school teacher who simply identified himself as Omotosho, the actions of the governor of late has been below the acceptable standard. “He is not acting like a governor. He is acting as if he is the president of everything……everybody. Like a god that cannot be spoken against. If you make noise he will shut you down. The case of the woman that told him she could not pay her children’s school fees because he has not been paying regularly and the way he answered is a perfect example of what we are experiencing at the moment,” the primary school teacher said. The primary school teacher was however hopeful that the next year will turn out better for workers and residents of the state. “I hope that next year will be better than this year. It is my prayer that the governor will do the right thing and always avoid wrong advisers,” Mr. Omotosho concluded. Efforts to reach the special adviser to Governor Ayodele Fayose, Mr Lere Olayinka to respond to some of these issues proved abortive. Reacting to the non-payment of salaries amongst other things a loyalist of the governor and house of assembly member representing Ilawe-ekiti Constituency I, Honourable Onigiobi Olawale Fawale said workers in the state know the true situation the state has found itself. He reaffirmed Governor Fayose’s commitment to ensuring that workers and residents in the state are well prioritized in his administration. He also debunked rumours that the governor is planning to retrench workers adding that the governor is fully dedicated to carrying out people sensitive policies. “The governor cannot purposely set up to frustrate and wicked workers in the state. He is like a father to me and I can assure you that the reasons why salaries are not promptly paid are not the governor’s doing. They are not his faults. We all know those that are causing this problem,” he said. that money is for rice I think? he will still give you chicken nau |
