Nope. Like with anything Fintech in nigeria, there is a bit of fear around their stability. Given how well SEC regulates though, i have been able to overcome my fears.

I think u can increase your GTbank to 100m maximum daily transfer limit. Update your Gtbank app and check limit under settings in app.
Not sure it works. NIP is still limited to 25m. I tried the direct debit for 50m e no work.

Transfer limit I was told is 5M via app.
GTbank is 25m, access is 15m. Check your bank app on how to increase the limit to the max. Do a transfer now and do another tommorow. Case closed. With banks, they will keep dribbling you if you drop by.

Do cowrywise. You will have variety and its a short period you are going for. Just throw it into Trustbanc (via cowrywise) and relax for 90 days. Their rate is 3% better than stanbic

Shame to CAF and congratulations to Senegal

You see how Senegalese players protested that last penalty, which brahim intentionally missed just to calm fray nerves, if na our super eagles and sports administrator, we for won begin do "yeye big brother" or " one Africa love".....but Senegal walked out n stood there ground.

King of African football..... Senegal
Still struggling with if Diaz intentionally missed though. I'm sure there are rules against that. Secondly, it was a panenka. If Mendy had dived fully to the other side(as most keeper do), it would have been a goal.
Mendy was already on the way to the other side(meaning at least Mendy wasn't informed of an intentional miss, if any) before he recovered. The shot was weak and slow allowing him to get back and pick the ball.

Well, glad Senegal won

Congratulations to Senegal after a game filled with drama.

They are the 2026 AFCON Champions.

Senegal clinched a dramatic victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against hosts Morocco on January 18, 2026, securing their second continental title. The match in Rabat went to extra time after a tense 0-0 draw, marked by controversy including a disputed penalty and protests. Midfielder Pape Gueye delivered a spectacular long-range strike in extra time, curling the ball into the far corner to give the Lions of Teranga a priceless lead. Despite late pressure from Morocco, including a missed penalty by Brahim Diaz, Senegal held firm for a 1-0 win. Building on their 2021 triumph over Egypt, this success cements their status as one of Africa's elite teams, led by veterans like Sadio Mané.

Kindly share their ratings on Naija MMF/Managers.

As I said, I'm open to learning. Take it or leave it.
Cool.

The big three do not rate nigerian fund managers to the best of my knowledge. They issue ratings on entities with major international exposure either countries, banks or major financial institutions.

Now, the ratings done by national rating agencies are not credit ratings like those of banks. It does not reflect their ability to repay debts or meet their financial obligations in a timely manner.

Mostly, the ratings are management quality or investment managers rating. They assess the quality of your managers. It shows how good your fund manager is in managing your assets. It also talks about the quality and adherence to internal controls, risk management and operational efficiencies.

These are important. We mostly forget that almost all these fund managers are heavily involved in managing equity based portfolios where quality of the manager shines.

However, for your mmf, it is largely insignificant because SEC mainly limits what each manager can do. Essentially their use of individual judgement is limited

1. You must invest at least 70% in assets that will liquidate within 365 days
2. The assets must have a minimum of BBB rating
3. You cant put more than 20% of your AUM in a single security(no matter how sweet it is) except its government securities (t-bills)
4. Fees and expenses are capped at 1.5% and 3.5% of your NAV
5. You must settle every redemption within T+1
6. Interest must be distributed quaterly
7. Plus the funds are not kept with the fund manager

There are some more rules sha. You can also read more on Regulation of investment of pension fund assets which is allied.

With this, you will see that judgment is limited for MMF but the rating is indicative for Equity based portfolios.

Just have a 5yrs minimum horizon for equities. If you try to time the market(entry or exit), you will likely lose. Buy a dividend paying stock, collect ur dividends periodically and forget the stock there. Stock mostly turn green in the long run.

I started with 70k last year, and it dropped down to 60k. However, my patience and resilience paid off. No one is forcing anyone to invest in Equity.
Not saying folks shouldnt invest though this is my first foray into managed equity portfolios.

I do have significant equity holdings via meritrade (naira) and bamboo(usd). Just that both are long term plans.

My usual advice is that invest in mmf until u have steady inflow to cover ur expenses or even match your salaries then invest any additional funds in equities for the long term.

Pls check Agusto et al & S&P et al ratings scope. Maybe I'm missing something.

Agusto et al rate based on National scale while S&P et al rate based on Global scale.

The intl rating agencies actually do national ratings mostly as its more useful locally.

He may be referring to Norrenberger…since their rates were frozen on the app for about a week. If Cowrywise were updating those rates on their platform during that period (I don’t know if this is true), then they likely have an information we don’t have. Hence the question….
Norrenberger is not on Cowrywise. However, those on Cowrywise do get updated daily. E.g the trustbanc in my post earlier stated 19.62, it has dropped to 19.24 meaning it gets updated.
InvestmentRe: Mutual Funds by Preator: 11:35pm On Jan 11
Neurotika:
Asides the liquidation concerns, I think he raised a valid question “Why is Cowrywise updating your interest when the actual FM is still dealing with backlog?” I’ll also like to get clarification on this if his claim is true.
I do not deal directly with the FM so i am not sure if they are having backlog issues. However, i've used quite a few including stanbic, while there may be a delay in the funds reflecting, it always does. Perhaps Cowrywise is simply banking on the assurance that the funds will always come. This is purely speculation
InvestmentRe: Mutual Funds by Preator:
Iamblessed88:
Bro this is a redflag. Why is cowry updating your interest when the actual FM is still dealing with backlog? Is this cowry SEC registered? Have you verified with TrustBanc that they actually recognize your investment with them?

I’d advise you to deal with any FM directly and cut out the middle man.

Also, the real definition of a risk free asset is an asset backed by the taxation power of a developed nation e.g USA or Europe. Coincidentally, these also have the lowest rates. You’d be hard pressed to find rates above 5-8% in developed countries. I said that to say low rates are usually indicative of a high quality risk free asset.

While it’s true that market risk is same across FMs, let’s not pretend that each firm does not carry its own unique risk e.g Internal Control, etc. Yes they may be SEC accredited but do they have any external validation? Stanbic is about the only one that has a AAA rating by Augusto.

Lastly, rate hopping is for people looking to accumulate capital. By your posts, you’re way passed that and infact i think you’re in financial freedom territory already. Why stick out your capital for an extra 3% that wont get you more than circa 2-3m in the grand scheme of things. Your focus should be on consistent monthly contributions over the next 3 to 5 years.

It’s not always illogical to ignore the highest rates as you alluded to in your previous post.
Your money market is like stock. For example i trade US stocks via bamboo. So what happens to my holdings if bamboo collapses?

A few years back i did some research into that and found out that nothing happens. I simply log on to Drivewealth LLC in US and move on. The stock doesnt get lost until the company's stock i bought from collapses. So if i have Pepsico stock via bamboo, unless pepsico collapses, i am fine.

In this case, Cowrywise, Stanbic, Trustbanc etc are like bamboo. The underlying assets are commercial papers and government securities. As long as Cowrywise executes my instructions to buy those underlying assets, along with funds from other investors, we are safe. We only lose money when government defaults. And that will affect stanbic too.

By the way, its risks and rewards. Also, knowing what i know as a Finance person. augusto rating shouldnt give you any comfort. If u have the time compare ratings by GCR,datapro and Augusto vs those done by standards and Poors or , fitch or moody. U will see a trend.

I doubt it’s a backlog issue. Notice how all the high interest guys seem to have same issue while the lower interest guys credit your account automatically even on weekends? This reeks of correlation and causation factors
In this instance, correlation is not causation. Trustbanc and meristem pays daily via cowrywise. Never missed a day. In fact, if i deposit before 3am, the money go earn interest by 6am ish dt same day

Stanbic MMF at 15.63% is not encouraging at all. I currently have 176M naira in it. I am contemplating moving to a different asset manager.
A capitalist must always squeeze out the highest return from every resource available. To do otherwise is illogical. I stayed with stanbic same way for a while until i computed what i was loosing with the differentials.

I moved to cowrywise last week after moving the funds in bits and losing some daily returns in the process due to bank's transfer limit.

But those loses are recovered. ( I placed a staggered withdrawal in 50m tranches) GT allows 25m max a day.

Once the money drops, i move 25m immediately, then wait till 12.01am and move another 25m. Note that the second 25 also earns a return by 6am same day on Cowrywise.

Trustbanc offers me 19.62 today. Its not static but it has been consistently 3% above stanbic. I do have some funds left in stanbic, but the bulk of my funds are working to the fullest.

If u want to move, place withdrawals (50m each) on monday, wednesday and friday. They should drop by next monday, Wednesday and friday latest. Do the same day and midnite move to ensure u dnt lose returns. Its slow, it's time consuming, it's laborious but money comes from labour.

See screenshot below. Stanbic is 15.63 today, TB is 19.62. i have assumed 18.63 sim if the rate difference stays at just 3%. Even if TB goes low, there are other options on Cowrywise u can move to monthly. People will say its stress, but that's how money is made.

If things changes and another MF on the platform offers a higher rate next month, na to move. Every penny counts
