Ogas in the house pls hw will this TiN (tax) affect us?? Hw deep will it bite.
Tentatively, no impact. Ur returns is exempt from PIT and CGT in your hands. Any required tax would av been paid by the fund manager.

The FM rates may drop though if their taxes go up. But I havent seen anything in the new law that should cause that.

NB: from next year the IRS will have regulatory access to your bank statements so if you have heavy incomes that have been evading taxation before you may start getting extra assessment.

Really? You are stating the obvious and going on the defense like someone who has a vested interest. Customer has a right to complain about poor and exploitative services when they see one, they also owe it as a service to warn others not to fall into the same trap. If I say what’s bad about a service, you can counter it with things that are good if there are any. There’s no need to go on the defensive if you truly are neutral. About the unusual fees, it sure looks more like an exploitation than deterring micro transactions. Each of those ₦250 charges is a 1% off your yield on a ₦25,000 deposit, erasing any yield advantage they purportedly have.

You “haven’t tried that, you can’t comment”, but then you’re commenting.
I just simulated selling everything now, and there is a sell all units button there..

On the fees, if 250 is unpalatable, that will be for each investor to decide. Plus FBN and Stanbic are there with zero fees.

For me, the rate differentials more than make up for the N250. By the way, i have no vested interest. My main MMF os still stanbic. Cowrywise is just additional

In anything you do, avoid cowrywise. I like fintech, they're supposed to be the new way of doing things. But no, this one is not. Unfortunately, Nairaland has strict rules about language I won't be able rant as I would like. But here's a summary of the way they do business:
You get charged ₦50 to "link" them to your bank account (your registration isn't complete until you do so). There's no evidence of this "linking" with your bank, and there's no advantage of doing this. Then there's a ₦250 processing fee to move fund to your wallet or invest in any of their portfolio. This ₦250 is irrespective of whether the fund is coming from your bank account (including the linked account) or from your wallet. There's a ₦50 fee to withdraw to your bank account. But you cant withdraw to ₦0 balance . . . You get the gist?
More importantly, take their MMF yield with a grain of salt. I invested in ARM MMF with them and ended up getting around 18% yield, against the 20.8% rate they quoted on their platform.
Cowrywise allows you to access other MMFs from their platform with their rate posted. However, if you want to enjoy the rate they posted, invest in the cowrywise mmf. Leave the other ones alone. I have been using them for four months now and the daily rates they posted aligns with the returns i get.

On the fees each mmf determines their fees. Its a choice to use them. Given the slightly higher rates they offer, i can easily offset the charges. Its also likely to discourage micro transactions.

On withdrawing to zero, i haven't tried that so i cant comment but i havent seen any mmf that doesn't allow full redemption for your realized gains. In fact the only time i tried their redemption, i saw an option to withdraw every unit i had.

Perhaps those who have used them longer can comment sha. I was motivated to join them when someone posted their transparent daily returns pix here also.

It was just weird seeing a negative, dont ever recall seeing such.
Mine was even doubled. Its their usual end of month shenanigans. Everything go reflect well by tomorrow.

My worry is their consistently low rates compared to their peers. It's their large AUM that's making me drag my feet to reducing my change with them. Cowrywise does far better. Just the fear of this tech mmfs

i Intentionally put away #60,000 for this research, hoping to gain more knowledge on how it works, as i already know what i am to earn with MMF based on the percentage for the day. No one here talks about the other 7 investment funds, just MMF. So that is why a little amount of money was sacrificed. It is how risk works. Therefore you are somehow right and somehow wrong when you say the investment was done blindly. I did it blindly because i know nothing about it, also done because i want to see how it works
Did 20-30k a while bk on about 4 of them also for knowledge purposes too. All but one went down. My account manager called to ask me to close all the rest.

Fact is that where equities are involved, there is lot of volatility. It may go up or down. In the long run, it's usually fine in the long run.

Please, i have to go to Ilaro and last time i took the iyanapaja ifo route in public transport and it was quite bad. Lots of bad road sections and one way. I need to go again(from berger) and i'm considering the berger-interchange-abeokuta-ilaro route. Is there anyone with recent experience plying this route? I'm planning on driving.

It’s Stanbic I’m using for now. I have had a nice experience so far though. I like their monthly interest reinvestment. I also have fbn quest and united capital, but I’m yet to start using them fully.
Stanbic experience is quite good though their monthly reinvestment may not be as financially ok as some mmf that reinvest quarterly due to difference in rates. FBN typically has a higher rates that yields more returns over time compared to stanbic monthly returns. Depending on how much you put, the difference may be significant.

I also feel that stanbic rates these days are artificially held at 20.01% cos virtually all the other guys(esp the high interest ones) have been declining.

these guys are a joke. So na the poorest of the poorest wey dey earn like 60k in a month go come dey rejoice onto this news.

People who can't even survive on their monthly pay in the first instance

Already they know taxing such people is gonna lead to anarchy so I don't see any favors done here.

Abi una wan dey earn such amount?
If u earn less than a million annually ,you typically will pay nothing now.
If you earn less than 1.7m per month, you should experience a slight dip in your taxes.
Above 1.7m per month, your taxes will scale up.

The trick was that most low income earners were not paying any taxes before. Artisans, drivers, agberos, market women etc. The cost of chasing them to pay will also have been humongous since they wont pay voluntarily. So they simply formally exempted them and moved the burden to those who are "HNIs" and ask them to be their brother's keepers by paying more taxes.

Most of this folks cant even complain because people around them do not know they earn that much before. They'll have to confirm that they make more than 1.7m a month to justify their ranting. So they grumble in silence.

Its a shame that earning 1.7m per month ($1k) now makes you an HNI. You cant even afford a decent and recent toks on salary.

TheGoodJoe:
Exclusion of Homeowners is Arbitrary and Punitive

By not allowing any form of relief for homeowners—who often face mortgage payments or property maintenance costs—this law unfairly punishes people who have invested in housing. In the old system, relief wasn’t tied to rent, so homeowners were not left out. Now, it seems the law favors renters without justification, introducing bias into what should be a fair and neutral tax system.
Actually, the cash benefit of the max 500k relief is max N125k. Not something that will sway someone in the 25% tax category. By the way, if you have mortgage, you can claim relief. Same for life insurance.

There’s honestly nothing beneficial in this new PAYE system for most of us, my brother/sister. It mainly favors low-income earners who are now exempted from PAYE.

I compared the old and new formats, and starting January 2026, I’ll actually be paying more PAYE.

All those new terminologies they introduced are just replacements for the old format, no real difference in outcome.

What they’ve really done is shift the burden: exempt the low earners, and make those who still qualify for PAYE pay more to cover the gap.

As far as I’m concerned, this new PAYE structure doesn’t work in our favor at all.

I'm open to corrections.
That means you are earning over NNN per month. Abeg show us the way

1. Bloom offers higher return.
2. Yes, MMF.
3. Bloom return is currently less than 1% compared to the regular.
4. You can move funds to the high yield plan.

Do you think the HY plan is worth it based on your experience? Does it offer capital security like mutual funds? The percentage return looks quite close currently

High yield investment is only available for premium customers under bloom. In other words, your funds must exceed 10 million and kept for 30 days to qualify to be a bloom premium customer.
Good morning boss, what does bloom offers? Are they still mmf or managed equity investments? Whats the gap in return like compared to the mulberry plan?
Also can i move funds in the mulberry plan to the high yield plan after the 30days holding period?
Want to be sure its something worth exploring.

Many thanks.
