Akwa United Football Club yesterday unveiled a new set of jerseys for the new football season which begins on the 15th of this month.
The jerseys which are an aesthetic blend of orange and white official colours of the state also represent the "DAKKADA" brand of the state government.
The dominantly orange jersey will be worn during home games while the dominantly white jersey is for away games.

AS CIVIL ENGINEER ATTRIBUTES COLLAPSE TO BAD TERRAIN, POOR CONSTRUCTION.
About 18 worshippers have so far been confirmed dead with about 50 badly injured following the collapse of REIGNERS Bible Church auditorium during the Bishopric enthronement of its founder, Apostle Akan Weeks.
This is as the Akwa Ibom state Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has returned to the site of the collapsed Church auditorium to oversee rescue and evacuation efforts after being certified stable by a team of medical professionals at the Government House Clinic.
Correspondent who is on the scene of the disaster to monitor rescue efforts reports that a combined team of Road Safety officers, Civil Defense operatives and the police have so far counted 18 corpses.
About 50 persons have been rushed to neighbouring health facilities including St Luke's Hospital Anua, Lifecare Clinic, Nwaniba and the University of Uyo teaching Hospital.
Some of those rescued have lost their limbs and legs while others are in coma.
In the meantime, a Uyo based civil Engineer Engr Uduak David has attributed the collapse to the bad terrain where the church is sited, explaining that erecting a structure in that terrain disturbed by ravines would have required the engagement of more experts to ascertain that the strength of materials used are such that are needed for that kind of terrain.
"As you can see, this environment is surrounded by ravines. So it is commonplace for this kind of disaster to happen if the right kind of materials are not used. In the case of today's incident, those who constructed this building didn't get the calculations right. Because from my preliminary assessment, the materials in the roof had more weight and so the pillars had to give. "
Vehicular movements along the Uyo village road has increased in the last hour following the incident.

How to Apply for UNIUYO Post UTME/Admission Screening Exercise.

Eligible candidates should pay the sum ofN2, 500 (Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira Only). Those who had registered earlier with the sum of N2, 000 (Two Thousand Naira Only) are required to pay N500 (Five Hundred Naira Only) via Remita Platform.

Abuja - President of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has
denied reports lawmakers will next week receive N8,64 billion
collectively as so-called wardrobe allowances.
He stated this during a visit by Chairman of Revenue
Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission Engineer Elias
Mbam and his team in Abuja.
Saraki said the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal
Commission was responsible for fixing of remunerations to public
office holders.
He advised the media to be more accurate in their reporting.
He warned government agencies against not remitting Federal
Government revenue to the Federation account to desist from such
act as government will no longer condone such mismanagement
act.
The Senate President said non-compliance by agencies of
government has brought major setback in the processes of
governance.
Saraki reiterated the support of the Senate in bringing back
justice to any erring agency that indulged in diverting government
revenue to illegal channels.
“Monetary revenue and allocation is a serious challenge to our
economy.
Though, diversification of economy is very important but is not an
overnight issue. We must block every leakage in government
revenue.”
He said they made campaign promises to Nigerians and they
must fulfill their pledges.
“It cannot be business as usual. We will do everything within our
capacity to elevate the living standard of Nigerians,” Saraki said
Chairman of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal
Commission, Elias Mbam, said the agency had always enjoyed
cordial relationships with the National Assembly. He called for
the continued working relationship with the view to enhance their
effectiveness.
Mbam also condemned the recent media report that exaggerated
the wardrobe allowances of Senators and members of the House
of Representatives.
He said wardrobe allowance was 25 percent of the basic salary,
which was about N506 600 per legislator per annum.

RIVERS State Ministry of Health has prohibited consumption of local gin known
in local parlance as Ogogoro following the death of over 20 persons in Bonny
Island and Woji respectively.
The Director of Disease Control in the state, Roland Obed Whyte, said the
decision to ban the consumption of the local gin was part of government’s
proactive measures to forestall the death of some more persons, explaining
that it had been difficulty to get samples of the particular gin that claimed
the lives of the victims in Bonny and Woji.
He said the remains of some of the deceased were buried without their
families allowing the conduct of autopsy to medically ascertain the real cause
of their death.
Whyte, who said in Port Harcourt yesterday that some health officials are
currently on an intensive enlightenment campaign in Woji on the inherent
danger of consuming local gin, said preliminary findings indicate that some of
symptoms noticed in the affected victims include vomiting and blindness.
Bonny Youth Leader, Mr. Simon Wilcox, had raised alarm on Wednesday
that at least 17 persons lost their lives after the consumption of local gin and
eating dog meat.
He said: “Seventeen persons have been confirmed dead. We are going to the
hospital to attend to those who are lying critically ill. We need the help of
World Health Organisation (WHO), and Federal Government agencies to
assist people of Bonny kingdom.”
Meanwhile, the state Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has appointed Felix
Obuah as the new Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management
Authority.
The governor, who paid an unscheduled visit to the office of the authority
yesterday, expressed disgust with the abysmal performance of the
management and directed the new sole administrator to clean up the refuse
in Port Harcourt and its environs within the next 72 hours.

It would seem that everywhere that you look men appear to have beards
and it seems as though they are now as popular as they used to be in the
days before Mr Gillette came upon the scene, when having a clean shaven
face was fashionable.
Now of course there is nothing wrong with having a beard, it can suit
some men, but how clean are they? New research carried out by a
microbiologist in New Mexico, John Golobic, of Quest Diagnostics has been
swabbing a few beards to see if they contained any bacteria and the
results may surprise quite a few people, including men with facial hair!
What he found was that, not unsurprisingly, some beards contained traces
of normal bacteria and it would probably be no different than a person’s
hair on their head before shampooing. However some beards that he
swabbed contained so much faecal matter, poo to you and me, that they
could be compared to a toilet. Now many would be wondering just how this
poo got into the beard! What Mr Golobic did say was that if samples were
taken in a water supply and similar levels found, the supply would be
immediately closed.
Well surely it is down to basic hygiene when using the toilet, we are all
aware that we should always wash our hands thoroughly when we have
used a toilet and there can be few places where hand washing facilities are
not available, indeed it is compulsory in restaurants!
So whether you have a beard or not hand washing after using a toilet is a
must, and we suggest that you avoid scratching your beard if you decide
not to! Lots of hand and beard scrubbing is the order of the day!
