preciousetuk..com The Kaduna State Government has warned that any parent found obstructing health workers from immunising children against polio will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly. The warning came following the commencement of another round of polio immunisation campaign across the 23 local government areas in the state. A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Governor Nasir el-Rufai, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, said government would not tolerate a situation where the laxity of some parents expose children to a bleak future. The statement said the task force on the immunisation was being headed by the governor because of the importance of the exercise. “To keep Kaduna State polio-free is a mission that all parents must support for the sake of all children. Therefore, all parents have been urged to help make the polio immunisation campaign a success by making all their children below the age of five available for immunisation,” Aruwan said. “The state government wishes to clarify that any parent found obstructing health workers from carrying out their statutory functions will be prosecuted accordingly as prescribed by the law. “The government has further directed that all eligible children in transit within the state be made available for immunisation at all transit sites – motor parks, road blocks, railway stations, airports among others during the period of the campaign” the statement said. It said further that the teams of vaccinators would work with FRSC and NDLEA officials at partial road blocks to vaccinate children below five who are in transit on highways within the state. In the past, religious and traditional beliefs had undermined the efforts of health workers from administering polio vaccine to children. SOURCE : Thisdaylive.com |
preciousetuk..com Most traditional approaches to budgeting have us list out a single, Master Plan version of our income and expenses for the month. And while this may be helpful for some people as an initial money practice, it ignores the richness and complexity of our money relationship as something that is always unfolding, shifting, and evolving, over time. The Three-Tier Money Map is the antidote for this over-simplification. Here is its basic framework: 1. The Basic Needs Level These are the bare bones, bottom-line needs for your life. And only you decide what that means. Is it just groceries, rent, and utilities? Does it include a particular kind of food? Is a daily coffee a must for you to function? Does it include savings and debt repayment? You’re the boss here. 2. The Comfortable Lifestyle Level Here, introduce some more comfort into your lifestyle. What’s the next level up from Basic Needs, for you? What’s included? How much? Does this mean a monthly (or even weekly) massage or pedicure? Some disposable income for movies, restaurant dinners, or the latest electronic gadgets? The ability to gift a little money to friends and family? 3. The Ultimate Lifestyle Level Here we progress another step. Imagine having sufficient income to live out the fullest expression of your desires. All your intentions are funded. Does this look like millions of dollars in the bank, jet-setting from Tokyo to Buenos Aires to Paris, anytime you like? Or is it a surprisingly simple lifestyle, living debt-free on a rural sheep farm? Take the time to clarify what this means for you. Everyone defines their Three-Tier Money Map differently: one person’s Comfortable tier is closer to another person’s Basic Needs or even Ultimate tier. Our definitions and dreams for each of these levels are as unique as we are, involving not only different types of expenses, but also vastly different amounts. This Three-Tier framework is supportive and illuminating no matter what your income level or expenses are. Anyone can get out of control with their spending habits, bury their head in the sand about their income or debt, or lose focus of their priorities. And no matter how much or how little money you have, directing it with intention is always a pathway to greater clarity, connection, and empowerment. |

energylivetodayblog. For banks participating in the N213 billion power sector financing, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned that acts of sabotage would be followed with commensurate penalties. The CBN has listed 18 infractions, which it circulated to banks participating in the scheme. This action of the apex bank is intended to remove bottlenecks responsible for low power generation. Some participating banks are yet to fulfill their December 22, 2014 agreement with the apex bank with regards to releasing funds to generating and distributing companies by the first week of last year. This situation is therefore frustrating investors plans to upgrade their processes aimed at effective and efficient delivery of electricity. In a circular titled: “Sanctions Grid to Deposit Money Banks that participate under the CBN – Nigeria Electricity Stabilization Facility (CBN-NEMSF)” by its Director in charge of Financial Policy and Regulation Department, Mr. Kevin N. Amugo outlined penalties-ranging from warnings, to fines to the tune of N500, 000 daily-for infractions. Fourteen money deposit banks are participating in the refinancing scheme, in which the World Bank offered to guarantee $1.75 billion lifeline, representing a total of $7 billion budgeted for Nigeria over a four-year period. While some generating companies and distribution firms were presented with disbursement early in 2015 to meet some of their obligations, others since then have remained unable to access the facility. It was not clear if the World Bank’s facility too was being hampered. Its Nigeria Country Energy Task Team Leader, Mr. Eric Fernstrom, who announced the assistance in December 2014, noted that the Bank was greatly encouraged to offer the additional assistance to ensure that the reform objectives were realized. On November 18, 2014 the CBN equally signed an MoU with the key players in the power sector on financing, which is under the CBN’s Nigerian Electricity Market Stabilization Facility (NEMSF). The agreement, was a result of the collaborative effort of the CBN, the Federal Ministries of Power and Petroleum Resources and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), it was structured to find solutions to the challenges in the electricity sector despite the handover of power firms to new owners. |
There are certain innate natural responses everyone possesses, honed by millennia of evolution. Babies, for example, hold their breath if they accidentally fall into the deep end before they can walk. A person facing a sudden drop in blood pressure will often faint, following standard doctor’s orders to lay down. Add one more to the list that you may not know about, but you may have instinctively done and seen results without even realizing. If you angrily swear at the customer service robot, called an interactive voice response (IVR) system by people in the biz, this reflex-like behavior often actually gets you what you want: a human. “I can tell you from experience calling these numbers that Apple, Hyatt and Humana are definitely companies that if you call and get angry with the IVR, your call will be escalated to the front of the line,” says Adam Goldkamp, Director of Operations at GetHuman.com, a site that does exactly what its url says and escorts you from the machines back to the land of the living, and can even call on your behalf for a fee. Thanks to similar sites like DialaHuman.com and years of grapevine, many people are already aware of the “dial zero until you get a person” gambit that often works, as does repeating “operator,” “customer service,” or “person.” Or, saying nothing at all—rotary phones are still out there and can’t exactly participate in the grotesque circus of “dial ‘three’ for billing questions” and “marque ‘dos’ para Español.” Unfortunately, however, too many people are in on that little “dial zero” hack, and some companies have robbed it of its effectiveness. “A lot of companies now will have the IVR hang up on you if you dial 0 too many times,” says Goldkamp. “But in general, getting mad at the IVR (not the rep) is a great way to escalate your call.” So when you just can’t get a human, follow your gut and start using some magic words. preciousetuk..com |
preciousetuk..com In all my life, when it comes to source of income, the only thing I have not done is work for anyone in a 9 to 5 job. I made that decision long before I went for higher institution. I could remember my dad telling us that he is sending us to school to acquire academic knowledge but that if we want to succeed financially in life, we should be thinking of starting our own business. Those were my guiding words all my year in school. So, while in school, I made sure I had a profitable business. In fact, it was the proceeding I used to see myself through and even start a better business after graduation. Today, I have a couple of businesses and I still have bigger dreams. I can’t thank my dad enough. Maybe today, I would have been roaming the street looking for job. If you are a graduate and you are looking for job/employment, honestly, there are at least 10 reasons why YOU will not get a job. So, I will advise you should start building your capacity to start your own business. Below are 10 reasons why you will not get a job. You Lack The Required Skill. Employers continue to complain about a dearth of skills among graduates. Employers are obviously tired of seeing same set of individuals with same set of qualifications springing up for interviews daily whereas they are in need of someone that will stand out. So ask yourself, what employable skill do I have? 1. 2. You Lack Personal Capability To Deliver: I think many graduates believe in their certificate and not in their individual capability which would make or mar their pursuits of employment. Many lack self-development and I belief you belong to that category. What have you done since you graduate to develop your personal capability? 3. You Are A Product of a Bad Educational System: Poor funding and management of our Educational system in addition to strike has made our institution products a laughing stock. In fact, the curriculum of some studies in the institutions are not in demand. Failure of school curriculum to place emphasis on practical concepts of entreprenuership and too much emphasis on theoretical education than entreprenuership exposure is a major problem. 4. You Can’t Meet Employers’ Unrealistic Demands: Employers stating job experiences as much as 3 years for fresh graduates. Age restriction, height, gender, language and many more, under these tense conditions, hardly will you see a graduate that will scale through and qualify for job application requirement except those who want to cross-carpet.. 5. Lack of Digital Skills: In this digital age, if you lack the digital skills and creativity to thrive in relation to your profession, you will surely be chasing a ghost if you are looking for a well paying job. 6. You Are One of the Educated Illiterates: Every employer wants beyond just a certificate. Every employer is out to employ someone with reasoning and intellectual might, not someone who cannot play with a full deck. Someone who knows how to and wants to learn more than what they studied in school and on the job. Someone who can readily bring ideas to the table on how the company can forge forward. Not someone with low reasoning capability who won’t even be able to answer extremely trivial questions. But guess what, that is what many of our graduates are. 7.You Want The Pay But Not The Work: Many Nigerian graduates think of getting employed today and get a car or probably buy a mansion in the next month, based on their salary. You and I know that such only happen in dreams. Success is built over time and with hard work, perseverance, dedication and being focused over the years. Are you willing to make the sacrifice? 8.Too Much Ego With Empty Pocket: I have had the privilege to present some business opportunities to some graduates and all they can say is they can only do administrative work where they sit in an office to be answering yes sir or yes ma. It took someone who is not a graduate to embrace the same opportunity. Today these uneducated persons are 50 times better than the graduate in terms of personal capability, income, value and the caliber of people in their connection. 9.Companies Are Downsizing: I remember visiting a couple of industrial estates in Lagos recently. You will see busy security men at the gate, but when you approach them that you want to go in, they will tell you the company has folded or the workers are on strike. The story is the same across the state and I belief same thing is happening in other part of the country. 10. There Is No Job Out There: Investors are not bringing in money which means no new job opportunity is being created. There is economy recession in the country. Even the companies that are retrenching, what do you think will happen when they become financially buoyant again. I can bet they will simply recall their sacked workers. The reason is simple, it cost more to hire a new staff than to recall an old staff. So, where will you be then? written by Ezekiel Enejeta SOURCE: financialwatchngr.com |
Apparently, LinkedIn's cofounder wants to add "Trump instigator" to his resume. Reid Hoffman, the cofounder and executive chairman of LinkedIn, pledged on Monday to donate up to $5 million to veterans organizations if Donald Trump releases his tax returns before the final presidential debate. The pledge follows a crowdfunding campaign launched late last week by Peter Kiernan, a Marine, to raise $1 million and donate the money to ten veterans group if Trump releases his tax returns by October 19. "Trump claims to love veterans, and so we're asking him to put his money where his mouth is," Kiernan wrote on the crowfunding page. "These ten groups all support causes that I personally believe in and best identify with the current generation of millennial veterans." Donors will only get charged if Trump releases his taxes, Kiernan added. As of publication, the campaign had raised $17,000. Hoffman says he will match all donations five-fold up to that $1 million mark, or as much as $5 million. As Hoffman points out, that is the same amount Trump offered to donate in 2012 if President Obama released his college transcripts and passport applications. "Taking Trump's own 2012 offer to President Obama into account, I'd like to assist Kiernan in his campaign," Hoffman wrote in a Medium post. "The American people deserve to know what's on Trump's tax returns," he added. "And Trump must show that he truly embraces accountability and transparency, and understands what it means to work on behalf of the public interest." Related: Silicon Valley throws big money at Clinton and virtually nothing at Trump Hoffman isn't the first business figure to pressure Trump to release his tax returns. Warren Buffett challenged Trump last month to release his returns. So far, no luck. Trump has claimed that he is being audited and therefore cannot reveal his returns, a fact that many experts disagree with. Hoffman, who got rich launching LinkedIn and richer still by selling it to Microsoft earlier this year, is just one of several Silicon Valley billionaires applying financial pressure to the Republican presidential nominee. Dustin Moskovitz, cofounder of Facebook (FB, Tech30), recently committed $20 million to help beat Trump, slamming his campaign as "one built on fear and hostility." Hoffman, along with billionaires Sean Parker (of Napster fame) and Marc Benioff (Salesforce (CRM, Tech30) CEO), have each contributed or raised at least $100,000 for Hillary Clinton's presidential bid, according to her campaign's list of bundlers. Hoffman was one of dozens of business executives to publicly endorse Clinton for president in June. "Amongst the key qualities of any serious candidate for President of the United States is a keen understanding of the global economy, and the ideas and will to implement policies at home that improve the livelihood of all Americans," Hoffman said at the time. "As an experienced entrepreneur and business person, I can say that Hillary is the candidate who best ensures the future of American prosperity." When asked at TechCrunch Disrupt on Tuesday whether the idea of a Trump presidency frightens him, Hoffman didn't mince words. "I'd say at the moment I'm in denial," he said. "A candidate who has demonstrated no public service that I'm aware of ... is terrifying for U.S. and foreign relations." preciousetuk..com |
The Federal Government has outlawed the procurement of transformers by electricity consumers, maintaining that it remains the duty of distribution companies (Discos). It also charged operators in the nation’s power sector to improve investments in order to upgrade their networks. The government equally expressed readiness to offset the electricity bills owed by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) put at N97 billion by the Discos. The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, made these disclosures during a meeting with officials of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), and noted that a careful verification of the debts was being carried out to ascertain the exact amount, considering that the sum stretches to several years. He welcomed any information that could expedite the exercise. and said: “You must continue to make distribution asset investments. Private purchase of transformers should stop. That is the responsibility of the distribution companies. We still have cases of people buying transformers themselves. This should not be the case.” Fashola charged the operators to improve customer relationship as well as close the metering gap and educate consumers on energy conservation.“Since the distribution companies are now owned by private enterprises, you need to make it easy for people to reach you. Let us all understand that the problems we have are not all technical. Some are manmade,” he noted. Earlier, the firm’s Managing Director, Ernest Mupwaya, had sought government’s approval to use the debts as letter of credit to address the liquidity challenges of the sector. In the meantime, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is seeking investors for its $7.5 billion system expansion agenda geared at attaining 20,000MW by 2022. In the ambitious five-year plan by which the transmission firm hopes to achieve 6,600MW by the end of 2016; 10,000MW in 2018; 13,000MW in 2020; 16,000MW for 2021 and 20,000MW by 2022, the nation’s capacity is to grow over the years from the current 5,300MW. energylivetodayblog. |

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on Friday declared the newly elected President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki as duly elected, an indication that the party was backtracking from its earlier hardline stance against the emergence of Saraki as Senate President and Dogara as Speaker of the House of Representatives. In a related development, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia have pledged to work with Saraki. The UK added that it was not bothered by the controversies trailing his emergence. Oyegun’s position is contrary to that of the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu who had earlier said Saraki was not duly elected and that he would not recognise him. The APC had equally earlier threatened sanction against its members at the National Assembly for not towing the party's line in electing their leaders. On his part, President Muhammadu Buhari said the election was constitutional, but noted that the party's procedure should have been adhered to. for more details www.preshetuk..com |
for more news visit www.preshetuk..com With the inauguration of the National Assembly and expected nomination of a new federal executive council by President Muhammadu Buhari, his supporters in Cross River State have cautioned against appointing any member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into his cabinet. Speaking to THISDAY on Friday Secretary of a group under the aegis of the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) in Cross River State, Comrade Cletus Ogban, said the call became expedient because some known PDP members from the state who campaigned against Buhari and worked assiduously against his victory at the March 28, 2015 presidential election were using every means to scheme to be appointed ministers by the President. The secretary of the BSO spoke against the backdrop that he was likely to appoint one of the top politicians of the PDP from the state as minister. The speculations became rife following separate visits paid to Buhari after his victory at the polls by the former governor of the state, Mr. Donald Duke, and the eminent persons in the state led by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) former Leader Of The Senate. Ogban who urged Buhari to appoint his ministers and other aides from the ranks the APC only, said “the members of the BSO would resist the appointment of any PDP member into the federal executive council by the President. The APC is rich in men and women who can deliver the party’s manifesto and development plans for Nigeria”. Ogban, currently the chairman of the APC caucus for northern senatorial district of the state said having sacrificed a lot for the party, especially during the last general elections; members of the group would stop the PDP members from reaping where they did not sow. “We as Buhari’s supporters were battered, were under serious confrontation; a lot of us were imprisoned by the security agencies that were all out to deliver Jonathan in Cross River State. We are yet to overcome the colossal damage from the struggle which we went through. Now, we begin to see members of the PDP who were themselves part of our problems coming to scheme for ministerial positions. “A lot of them in their communities like in Ikom, in the ward where the senate leader came from; there was a law that anybody who votes for Bunari will be fined. Our agents who dared to vote for Buhari were made to pay a fine of N50, 000 and a goat," he said. “ We experienced this kind of thing even in Obudu, in Ohum ward; the same thing happened. A lot of our members were fined for bringing out brooms and tying them across their verandas. The chiefs declared that tying brooms across the compound was bad omen and our members were made to pay fines ranging from N10, 000 to N50, 000 and livestock, so these were some of the troubles we passed through occasioned by the same PDP people who are now parading the corridors of power visiting Buhari,” Ogban said. Ogban alleged it is feared within the APC circle that a former governor of the state who is a known member of PDP is being considered for ministerial appointment and somebody Buhari will work with from Cross River state. Ogban said “It is disturbing. It has become necessary that we talk to the world while we talk to Buhari. We are also telling the APC across the country that in Cross River State we will resist any such arrangement where a PDP person is made to benefit from the crisis and the torture and suffering which we have passed through in their hands. We will resist it. “There is no correlation between the former governor and President Buhari. They don’t share the same philosophy; they don’t share the same ideology even in governance because we see what happened in Cross River State. We have not been able to overcome the damages that were inherent in his administration in the state. This governor invested in white elephant projects that were financed with local government funds. The past PDP administrations in the state were very inhuman that people died mysteriously. “ Ideologically, administratively, I don’t see any basis , so my appeal , my request to his Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, is that the people who worked for the success of the APC in Cross River State may not be very high and big names which are known, but we are prepared to recommend at any given time, and demand, those who can work, who have the spirit to continue to work to unite and develop the party , even beyond this success because we are looking at 2019 with a view to take over the state . And therefore, we need to plan and work assiduously and set up a goal for ourselves so, we will be able to make success.” Ogban who was the state deputy chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) said “they will resist any person who cannot stay in his party, but chooses to dabble into the affairs of the APC because they are looking for political appointments”. He told members of the PDP to remain in their party and play the opposition role expected of them. Ogban said the APC members played the role of opposition until the party won the last general elections, and depended democracy in the country |
