Tonto Dikeh, was a guest at the unveiling ceremony of the 2017 African Children Talent Discovery Foundation, Unleash Your Talent. PREMIUM TIMES had a chat with the controversial movie star at the ceremony, which held in Lagos on Monday. In the interview, the mother-of-one spoke about her ‘Born Again Status’, and other issues PT: Why are you passionate about the African Children Talent Discovery Foundation’s quest to discover young talents in Nigeria? Tonto: My involvement in a talent show such as this is something I am very proud of. It’s more like evangelism to me. I am passionate about this cause because many talented Nigerian children will benefit a lot from it. As we all know, often times it’s very difficult to access the industry. I wish I had seasoned actors mentor me when I was starting out my career. PT: Why do you regret not having a mentor early on in your career? Tonto: Entertainment is not an easy path for anyone to tow because it can kill you, make you or destroy you. It has the power to do and undo, so as a mother I will tell everyone to be careful with the industry. But as an entertainer, I will say welcome to any fresh talent because there is no limit to what he or she can do with a talent. It’s even written in the bible that, ‘I will bless you through the works of your hands.’ PT: You have made so much noise about your foundation in the recent. What have you been up to in this regard? Tonto: The Tonto Dikeh Foundation has been doing a lot recently. Every month, we try to do something different; and in August, we will tour the world speaking with female inmates. I am all for empowering women and the ‘One Girl, One Pen campaign.’ We all know that in our prisons, some people are on the death row but some others don’t seem to a have a means of survival for when they regain freedom. I have seen ex-convicts become great people in the society when they are released. So, I want to go into our prisons to empower the female inmates with skill acquisitions. We also plan to send some female inmates back to school when they regain their freedom. PT: What is the main focus of your foundation? Tonto: My foundation is very broad and when I was starting out, the focus was domestic violence, rape victims and physically abused women. But right now, being a mother and an advocate for God just broadens my purview. So my foundation is down for anything that will make the woman race better for it. PT: How is your foundation funded? Tonto: Like I said earlier, the Tonto Dikeh foundation is a big one. So, we have sponsors and people who key into our vision and run with us. PT: Does this mean that your acting career has taken the back seat? Tonto: I was off the scene for a long time but I returned with a bang. I stared in a yet to be released film titled Celebrity Marriage and it will be out soon. I’m all fired up because I’m involved in the movie. I don’t want to be involved in the acting like I used to be in the past. PT: Can you please shed more light on this? Tonto: I have shot a film in a day, in the past but not any longer. I’m not looking for popularity so I am just trying to stay relevant by starring in very few quality movies. My family proposes that I shoot five quality movies in a year. I think three good movies in a year is fair enough. And that is what I have been looking for. That way, I can have time for my child and other people because I’m not just a mother of one but I am a mother of nations. PT: What is the secret behind your new glow? Tonto: Well, firstly I am born again and when you have God, you just radiate. So all the glow is from within; you don’t fake God’s glow. You also can’t fake God’s glory because it overwhelms you. I don’t know how to say what I want to say but when God steps into a situation or your life he elevates you and makes you see things in a different light. So, the glow you see is all God. I am a radical for Christ. PT: Do you plan to set up a church or become an evangelist? Tonto: Yes I will, before I became an entertainer I was close to becoming an evangelist but I backslid. But not to say anything, I am back with God. I don’t know where God is taking me to. But if it is the pulpit, I am ready. PT: You go the extra length when it comes to your son. Your Fathers Day outing readily comes to mind. Tonto: I heard motherhood is difficult but I think my son and I share a special kind of love that makes everything easy. Its not that I don’t get stressed out or mad at him sometimes. I do. But the love and the grace of God is sufficient for both of us. PT: You appear to have adjusted to life in Abuja Tonto: I thought I could never live outside Lagos because I thought everything outside Lagos was too slow. I need that slow life now because nobody is my face and neither am I in people’s faces. I’m changing my circle of friends and redecorating my life so I needed that space. https://i1.wp.com/www.press9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Tonto-Dikeh.jpg?w=501&ssl=1 PT: Do you think you can regain your privacy again? Tonto: I have always been a very private person and anything that people say about me is what they want to make up. No one truly knows me, no one knows what I eat or don’t eat. No one knows me and the only thing about me that is being made public is what I post on social media. So, if I don’t post it, disregard it. PT: So, are some of the backlashes you have received on social media lately a result of your being born again? Tonto: Well, even if I wasn’t born again, they will still come for me. You see, the devil cannot steal from an empty barrel; you have to be fully charged. I will go through a lot of things, whatever is happening now this is nothing compared to what is yet to come. What I have seen is not even half of what will come in the future. I am ready for more; there will be worse to come and I’m ready for it. When God prepares you in a different kind of way, I can fight my battles on my own strength. PT: Following your new status as a child of God, will you remarry or reconcile with your estranged husband? Tonto: Love is a beautiful thing and love is exquisite. So, of course, I will remarry once I find true love. SOURCE: Press9ja .com

More facts emerged, yesterday, about the circumstances that led to the location of the residence of the kidnap kingpin leading to his arrest, last Saturday. Sources attributed it to an informant residing in Magodo and intelligence reports that revealed identities of his three girlfriends. It was gathered that after the Inspector-General of police deployed his Intelligence Response Team to track the notorious kingpin, they made huge progress from the documents recovered from his hideout in Igando, Lagos after the miraculous disappearance of his last victim. The documents reportedly aided them in identifying occupants of that apartment and opened an avalanche of information leading to Evans movement. That was how they discovered that he lives at Magodo area of Lagos State, while other members were also residing in Lagos, Rivers, Abuja, Edo and Anambara States. According to Vanguard, a source disclosed that the leader of IGP’s team, Abba Kyari, who was tracking their locations had planned to round-up all the suspects, in one swoop, but his plans failed as Evans was always changing locations, making it difficult to get his exact location. The source who spoke with Vanguard on the condition of anonymity disclosed that, while Kyari was searching for Evans, and has also mobilized some residents of Magodo Estate, giving them clear descriptions of Evans, his vehicles and the name of his security man, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, also announced a bounty of N30million on information that could lead to the arrest of Evans. This led to the rounding up of three women believed to be Evans girlfriends, and they were identified as Amaka, Ijeoma and Ngozi. The operatives were said to have discovered that Evans was very close to Amaka and he rented an apartment for her in Okota area of Lagos State. Sources explained that Evans was fond of sleeping in Amaka’s house on a regular basis and they decided to use Amaka to lure him. It was further gathered that fearing that Amaka may have been picked by the police, he avoided her as much as he could. However, one of the police informants in Magodo made a breakthrough as the IRT were banking on Amaka, and he called and informed the police that he has located Evans apartment. He also disclosed that Evans has not been seen around his house for a long time and he was believed to have moved out of his house. The source revealed that, Evans was highly elusive at this time and he was quite aware that the police were closing in on him and he moved away from his home and relocated to a hotel in Agidigingbi area of Ikeja adding that he also moved his wife and children to Ghana and was trying to dispose some of his properties at the time he was arrested. On the day he was arrested, according to sources, he was said to be unaware that operatives had located his apartment in Magodo, when he contacted Amaka on Saturday morning. “He was said to have called her on the phone around 4:15am, without knowing that some policemen were with her and asked her to wait outside her compound to meet him. She reportedly joined him later at the spot and as soon as she got into the car, he attacked her, threatening to kill her for not informing him about the police presence in her house. Evans was said to have gotten angry and drove away with her in his Grand Cherokee SUV and they had an accident at Iyana-Ipaja area where he abandoned the vehicle, seized Amaka’s phone and asked her to go home. It was from there that he picked a cab to his residence at Magodo to pick some few things towards travelling out of the country. After then, we swooped on him and arrested him inside his bedroom.” Source: https://www.press9ja.com/tag/evans/

Prudence Keiruka is an Igbo lady self-styled ‘Cassie’ who is based in the highbrow Lekki area of Lagos where she is currently plying her trade as a plus-sized model. Apart from her pretty face and curvy stature, her bum is ‘killing them’ like the Ebola Virus in Congo. One of her latest picture as seen above where she squatted in a skin-tight pink leggings has stirred up a round of commotion and debates on Instragam. Many are of the opinion that her enigmatic behind was laced with silicon or she might have been doing regular exercises to enhance it. In contrary, she has reiterated that her bum is 100% natural. Her bum has been comically described as a potential tourist attraction that could attract international attention if well managed and packaged for public view. A few weeks ago, 31-year-old Zama was allegedly assisted by a passerby to escape when her boyfriend, Ayanda Nkosi, 32, tried to throw her over the bridge at Jozini Dam in South Africa, but on Friday night she wasn’t so lucky when Ayanda allegedly stormed into her rented house in Jozini, northern KZN and fired bullets into her body. Ayanda, who was originally from Hluhluwe, is believed to have turned the gun on himself afterward. Both of them died on the spot. A friend who lives in the neighborhood said they rushed to the scene on Friday night after hearing the gunshots and found the bodies of both of them lying on the floor, bleeding profusely. A relative of Zama’s told Daily Sun the couple had been fighting a lot lately. The relatives said that the circumstances surrounding the fights was not so clear but they were linked to the fact that Zama wanted to end the relationship. “Apart from Ayanda’s attempt to throw her over the bridge, there have been other shocking incidents,” the relative said. “He has been beating her severely. Zama had a fresh injury on her head that she sustained from a recent beating.” A source said: “Her boyfriend was jealous and abusive and their fights have been going on for a couple of months. It is not clear how long the two have been dating because neither of them is from the area. They came to the area early this year. Zama worked in Jozini and her boyfriend constantly visited her.” KZN police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident. He said a case of murder and an inquest docket were opened at Jozini Police Station for investigation. “Circumstances around the incident are still being investigated,” said Zwane. A Yoruba group, Concerned O’oduwa Progressive Youth Assembly, COPYA, has faulted former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who called on the acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to be sworn-in as substantive President saying the remarks was uncalled for. https://i1.wp.com/press9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/femi-fani-kayode-and-president-buhari.jpg?resize=640%2C453 Addressing newsmen, yesterday in Lagos, President- General of COPYA, Mr Kola Salawu described Fani-Kayode’s call as a campaign of calumny against the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. He said: “He is running a campaign of calumny against the President and we think this is in the hope that he can drive a wedge between President Buhari and the Yoruba in his cabinet so that they can be shoved aside. This is likely FFK’s own way of ensuring he is regarded as a Yoruba voice after having turned the Federal Government against leaders in the region.” Salawu said the call was aimed at pitching the Yoruba in government against other ethnic groups in the country. He said: “Femi Fani-Kayode has however taken the proverbial sacrifice past the indicated road junction in his recent call on the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to take over government from President Muhammadu Buhari. FFK has backup vocalists in this demented call that has no place in the constitution. It is nothing short of a ploy to pitch the Yoruba in government, led by Vice President Osinbajo, against other ethnic groups in the country.” “We are therefore warning that FFK and his likes are distracting the Vice President who assiduously goes about his duties as assigned to him by his boss, President Buhari. The recent issues raised by FFK in his incoherent response to a constitutional issue as regards President Buhari’s letter, as transmitted to the National Assembly, is clearly to cast the Vice President, who is now the Acting President, as a desperate person”, he added.
