Hello there is no rocket science about who or what angel investor is. It simply anybody with capital to fund your ideas. Now, in Nigeria people certainly don't refer to themselves as being an angel investor, it is an American concept really for those individual venture capitalists. This brings us to the main difference between angel investor and venture capitalist. A venture capitalist on the other hand is fund under the management of a structured investment firm (basically partnership). These are professional investors managing funds from third parties by investing the funds in startups or even growth ventures. In Nigeria, the angel investment/venture capital industry is not existing for startups but sparingly for growth ventures. In a nutshell of mine opinion, it is yet to commence really. But if I may refer one or more to you, can you shed more light to what idea you are pursuing so I can guide. Most that I know exist in Nigeria are targeting specific ideas, basically technology related. Otherwise, you as good as approaching a conventional finance house instead. Rergards |
