The key challenge we've had in Cocoa business in Nigeria nay Africa is that we have consistently held on to the short end of the stick. We play in a segment which is just 3% of the value available in the sector. Like Midastouch asked, where are the chocolate manufacturers in Nigeria? It is high time we begin to adopt a strategic approach to agri-business. Who says we cannot be the major exporter of chocolate? What does it take to become the leading exporter of cocoa drinks and chocolate? A little tweak of current operations will see us move from just 3% of the cocoa business value to 90% of the cocoa produced in Nigeria and upping our share of a global business currently rated at US$100bn.
|
Way to go! There's no doubt that we are well endowed to grow our economy by positioning it away from a mono product. |
Nigeria earned US$2.4bn in 2014 fiscal year from exports of cocoa, oil seeds, tobacco, raw hides, skins and leather, edible fruits and nuts, amongst others according to Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) Netherlands was the primary destination of the non-oil exports which also includes non-agricultural produce such as tin, nickel, copper, lead, plastic, footwear, etc Other countries include Spain, Turkey, China, Japan, Italy, Germany, India,USA, South Korea, Belgium, UK, Canada, as well as the ECOWAS bloc, etc For details www.punchng.com/business/nigeria-earns-n472bn-from-cocoa-others/ |
folteminvestment:Your point of lay turkey is it the foreign breed? Pls post picture of the point of lay turkey. |

Our dear Mr. Deputy Speaker sir, For this 150billion and 120 billion Naira spent, what do we ordinary citizens get out of 'our' National Assembly? 1. Truancy: Check the televised broadcast of NASS sittings. Two third of the seats are empty always. 2. Poor work output: The rate of bills passed especially when it concerns the public is embarrassingly low. 3. Alarming rate of corruption: Bribe for budget scandals. Bribe for Screening scandals. Bribe for Oversight functions. Bribe, bribe, bribe! 4. Scandals: Election rigging, political arm twisting, certificate forgeries, conversion of public property to their own properties at very ridiculous rates, etc. Sir, is it not embarrassing that about 2500 people (including NASS staff etc) according to you Mr Speaker, share N120b/N150b in a country: where children learn under the trees, people defecate in the open places in our 'cities' because there are no public toilets', citizens die in their thousands of malaria, cholera, typhoid, polio and other easy to prevent diseases? Sir, does it not worry you that: Our women and children trek kilometers to fetch polluted water from stream and ponds for household use? Our trees are gone because in 21st century we are still using firewood as source of energy? Our 'graduates' cannot express themselves clearly? Our youth are roaming the streets? Sir, will it not be of greater good to use the 2.6% to train and empower our youth? Create more jobs? Support small and medium scale enterprises, provide alternative power supply, restore efficient mass transit, provide motorable roads, Support agriculture and food processing? Sir, if Nigeria were to be your personal company, will you spend N120/N150b on NASS members? Just asking. Our NASS needs to CHANGE. God save Nigeria. |
Must governance in Nigeria always be about wastes? Ex-President Jonathan just moved out of Aso Rock. Was Aso Rock in such a deplorable state while Jonathan was there? All over the country, billions are being spent on 'renovation' of State Houses. Is this change we want? Can politicians for once think less of themselves and spare a little thought for the masses? Some States are owing 7, 8 months salaries to workers, yet billions are being spent renovating Houses that need no renovation. Na wah. |
Front view pls. |
