Thanks for your advice. The reason we do not put prices besides the products is based on past experience. We have posts that are 4-6 years old with prices and when Nairalanders call and you give new price most people get angry and think you lured them with the price. Most often, people do not even check the date of the post and there is no way we can begin to edit the prices without damaging the integrity of the post and the follow up comments.

Therefore, we have adopted this method, advertise the items and give price on demand on phone or email.

We will be adding value also when we scrutinise how our political leaders and public officials are spending this revenue. For example, with over 270 billion monthly revenue is Lagos of today the best we can get? Same for Rivers, Delta,Kano, Akwa-Ibom, etc

We can also explore how we can make some States centers for excellence for medical tourism thereby stemming the tide of incessant foreign trips to treat malaria and begin to attract people from the ECOWAS region seeking improved healthcare. Some areas can be built up as centers of excellence in information technology, manufacturing, tourism, financial services,etc.

Lets make this topic more productive and less divisive. As at today, we all are stuck together as one country (and for good!)

The first line of the article clearly states that the Q1 is the 3 months ending SEPTEMBER 30th 2015. Guinness runs a financial year calendar that starts from July. So, their Q1 is July -Sept as stated in the article.

Not true sir. Period under reference is part of the early days of the new administration that came to power on May 29th.
However, the key concern for all should be why such a major part of our manufacturing landscape (Guinness PLC) is posting such sorry results.
What led to the increase in cost of doing business for Guinness? Could it be increase in the cost of raw materials/cost of distribution/marketing costs/personnel costs/cost of funds/increase in taxes or decrease in margins?

This is just a tip of what to expect when others start publishing their results. LCCI has been shouting itself hoarse that the environment is not conducive for economic growth. I pray the new administration will put in place a strong economic team to guide economic decisions of the government to focus on driving economic growth, wealth and job creation. All hands must be on deck and blame game should take a back seat.

Sincerely, we should be able to grow our own food. Is it not a shame that in 21st century Nigeria, we are importing eggs, chicken, turkey and rice? What does it take to raise chicken, produce eggs,palm oil, etc that Nigeria with a population of 180 million people and over 30,000,000 hectares of arable land (out of which just 2.9% is under cultivation) cannot provide? We need to seriously tackle food insecurity by putting our army of unemployed youth to work and making agriculture truly attractive as a business.

In this regard, Govt at all levels will do well to grant easy access to land ownership. CBN and the commercial and development banks need to move beyond lip service and truly make funds available for lending to agriculture.Borrowers should also repay loans or be jailed. Entrepreneurs should invest in improved seedlings, modern storage facilities, agro processing factories, etc. Govt should provide motorable roads for prompt evacuation of farm produce. Businesses should get tax relief when they do backward integration to agriculture. We have the land mass, we have a clement weather, we have the people, we have the resources. What is stopping us?
