Politics / Accusation Of Graft Against Tinubu’s Star Boy, Tunji-ojo Baseless — Coalition by PrincessYemisi: 6:27am On Jan 13
Coalition of Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria has expressed concern over what the call pull-him-down syndrome syndrome being orchestrated by vested interests against the Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, urging President Bola Tinubu to ignore the 'baseless' rumours.

Describing the Minister further as the "star boy" of Tinubu’s cabinet, the coalition comprising representatives of 72 civil society organizations insists that Tunji-Ojo is being hounded because of the several reforms he has carried out that has displaced passport racketeers from their illicit trade.

At a press conference in Abuja on Friday where it reacted to the allegation that a company where the Minister had interest benefitted from alleged N438 million designated as consultancy fee from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the Director General of the Coalition, Comrade Ajagun Opeyemi said it carried out an investigation which indicates that the Minister resigned from the said company about five years ago even before contesting for election in 2019 as a member of the House of Representatives.

"From our findings, a company which the Minister allegedly had a stake in was accused of receiving the sum of N438 million designated as consultancy fee from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. However, what the peddlers of this rumour have deliberately failed to tell the public is that the minister had since five years ago resigned his directorship of the said company.

"From the investigation made at the corporate affairs Commission, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo ceased to be a Director of the said company as required by law before contesting for House of Representatives in 2019", it says.

According to the groups, the Minister like the proverbial dog is being called a bad name just to hang it. They insist that no trace of corrupt or financial mishandling has been linked directly or indirectly to the Minister, wondering if there are other things that do not meet the eye, for which he is being antagonised

"Tunji-Ojo at the risk of sounding inmodest is the star boy of this administration by the virtue of the record he has has set so far among every member of the cabinet. He has demonstrated an iron-cast capacity that he came prepared for the job and ready to leave a lasting footprint. We are not surprised at the pull-him-down syndrome playing out at the moment. His resignation from the company in question before contesting for House of Representatives is in total compliance to the Federal Civil Service rule of the Federation", Comrade Opeyemi said.

He continued by listing some of the achievements of the Minister since assumption of office. "The call for the suspension of the Interior Minister smacks of unpatriotism and insensitivity for Nigerians who have had nightmares attempting to access basic services in their fatherland, including the international passport.

"We are all witnesses to the far-reaching innovations the Minister has brought to bear in the ministry since assumption of office. For the first time in recent history of our country, we saw a minister who mobilized his friends and associates to raise funds, amounting to hundreds of millions of Naira to offset the fines of prison inmates, give them freedom and decongest the prisons.

"Under his leadership, the Ministry has cleared a heavy backlog of passports and implemented a new platform that would allow Nigerians renew their passports from the convenience of their homes. In coming weeks, Nigerians will start receiving their passports at their doorsteps. Who would have believed that this would be possible in this country?"

While commending President Bola Tinubu for not bowing to the emotions being vaunted out on the media spaces with the intention to stampeding him into suspending the "very performing Minister of Interior", the coalition said he has demonstrated a discerning sense of judgment, character of an excellent leader by holding talks with Minister to clearly understand the issues.

"It is therefore our appeal that the President does not succumb to this orchestrated plot to blackmail his government and project it as a corrupt one. He has demonstrated readiness to allow the Rule of Law take its due course and we have no doubt Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo will be exonerated as he continues in his excellent service delivery for our people", the coalition stated.

Politics / Edo Guber: LP’s ticket not for highest bidder — Omorodion warns by PrincessYemisi: 10:59pm On Dec 01, 2023
One of the leading contenders for office of the governor in Edo State on the platform of Labour Party, Prince Egbe Humphrey Omorodion has cautioned those relying on the inducement of delegates to get the party's ticket to perish such thoughts, warning that they will be disappointed.

According to him, the ticket of the party is not for the highest bidder, rather to the man who is prepared, willing and ready to serve the people of the state with integrity and commitment.

Prince Omorodion in a chat with newsmen recently noted that Labour Party is a distinctive party with a unique ideology, maintaining that the party is ruled by credible ideas and not moneybags, urging that those seeking to emerge the party's candidate ahead of the 2024 governorship election should sell their solutions to the people.

He took a swipe at some aspirants in the party whom he accused of jumping from one political party to the other, saying they lack stability to stay in one political party to pursue their ideas.

"A viral video indicates that one of them went to Labour Party headquarters in Edo and they threw sachet water at him. The truth is that he has moved party many times that people don't even remember which political party he belongs.

"Labour Party is a different political party from the rest. What makes us different is that we are new, young and vibrant. We are not the old stock of politicians", he noted.

While insisting that money politics had had its time, Prince Omorodion, a finance and medical professional urged the people of Edo to vote to liberate themselves from unemployment, poverty and insecurity.

"There will be surprises because in the primaries, the people are going to look for aspirants with real manifesto that is implementable.

"They will look for people who have experience, young people who can come out and actually work to improve the lives of the people", he added.

Omorodion, a senior Obidient diasporan, philanthropist and the Chairman of Labour Party UK said he is on ground to serve his people.

"We the diasporans, it is our time to come and bring that change. We have experienced what good governance is all about and that is what will import into our country, so that our families and communities can enjoy it."

While underlining that time has come to convert the brain drain to brain gain, the Edo Prince who has lived overseas in the past three decades said he has a network of high profile individuals and organizations that would be instrumental in transforming Edo into a global focus because of giants strides that will be recorded under him as governor.

He expressed optimism that the Edo state chapter of the party will ensure a level playing field for all aspirants.

Business / ANAN Tasks Youths On Effective Financial Planning by PrincessYemisi: 8:36am On Nov 12, 2023
The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has urged Nigerian youths to imbibe an effective financial planning as a means of securing their future.

According to ANAN, financial difficulties associated with post-retirement life is mostly associated with inability to plan at a younger age, urging young graduates and those in service to draw a plan that will accommodate "the rainy days".

At the 2023 annual International Accountants' Day hosted by ANAN FCT 1 Abuja on Friday, the branch chairman Mr. Elisha Andrew Shavah while noting that the current economic realities makes savings relatively difficult urged for discipline and enhanced financial literacy among young persons.

He said the 2023 theme of the International Accountants' Day, "Advancing Financial Literacy for a Sustainable Future" was carefully chosen in order to educate participants comprising youth groups, students and young professionals on the need to embrace financial literacy which he said is a pathway towards financially and sustainably guarding their future.

"Many persons are not literate when it comes to using their finances. If we are well educated on how to manage our finances, it will be an elixir towards the sustenance of our future.

"If as individuals we are not well informed on ways to plan, it would affect the entire society because the society is a collection of individuals", Mr. Shavah stated.

"The moment you attain maturity of the mind, you start planning your life and your finance is very key in this regard. You may not look at the size of your income at the moment, you have to draw your plan around it. What matters most is effectiveness in its utilization and that is why as an association, we are driving the campaign for financial literacy for all", he added.

In his remarks, the keynote speaker and the Coordinator Oil, Gas and Energy Unit of the University of Abuja Business School, Prof. Ishaku Abner said literacy in finance implies knowledge, understanding, capacity and exposure on how to manage finance, noting that it is a key element of policy for inclusive financial sustainability.

"Globally financial literacy rejigs and stimulates inclusive financial growth, bridge socio-economic and inequalities gaps and broaden economic and social outcomes by strengthening consumers' resilience to major financial shocks.

"The increasing complexity of the global economy as a result of globalization has made it imperative for individuals to possess the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the financial landscape effectively", he noted.

While attributing high financial illiteracy in Nigeria, especially at the rural areas to lack of trust on the digital financial structure, lack of financial consumer protection frameworks, income inequality among others, Prof. Abner urged for utilization of technology to advance financial education.

"In the digital age, technology plays a pivotal role in disseminating financial knowledge from mobile apps to online platforms, to bridge the gap and reach diverse demographics, including underserved populations."

Highlight of the event was award of recognition to deserving individuals.

Those honoured include, Chief of Accounts and Budget Nigeria Air Force, AVM Uche Nwagwu and and his counterpart in the Nigeria Army, Major General Adetokunbo Fayemiwo.

Others are, the Coordinator Oil, Gas and Energy Unit of the University of Abuja Business School, Prof. Ishaku Abner and the Ag. Executive Chairman FCT Inland Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Mr. Haruna Y. Abdullahi.

Politics / Kogi Guber: PDP Members Still In Party'll Pay Their Candidate In His Own Coin by PrincessYemisi: 7:32am On Nov 06, 2023
Karma has no menu. You get served what you deserve. With the way things are looking now, that is the fate that awaits the PDP candidate in the Kogi State gubernatorial elections.

The irony shouldn’t be lost on us that the only reason there are members remaining in the PDP is to finish what the members that left started. This is despite his blanket media silence. He thinks this period of abstinence from making comical videos and songs and generally being a national embarrassment to the state will erase the people’s memories and make him look more like ‘gubernatorial’ material.

Unfortunately it is not so. He should realize that he has been rejected and those left with him at the moment are only waiting to collect their ‘push’ money on Election Day and disappear. He himself should know by now that he doesn’t stand a chance of winning. Knowing him, he might not even release any funds he might have realized from donations from friends and political associates. Such is the despair right now.

The juggernaut that is the Ododo/Joel Campaign train will crush any opposition in its way. You either get on board or stay off the track. The APC will make sure that the state is not handed over to those who appear to lack the most basic of home training.

The foundation for a more inclusive brand of politics in Kogi State that takes into consideration the cultural diversity and differing political ideologies as laid down by GYB under the APC, must not be eroded by those who are unable to think of anybody except themselves.

We must all guard against this with all our strength and with all our might, so help us God.

Politics / Group Seeks Dino Melaye's Arrest Over Alleged Murder After US Damning Report by PrincessYemisi: 5:09pm On Nov 05, 2023
Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Nigeria has urged the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun to arrest and investigate the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Sen. Dino Melaye over an alleged 2007 murder.

The group while citing a US report of 2008 alleged that Dino Melaye who was declared winner of a 2007 House of Representatives election perpetrated violence that led to the killing of one Mr. Jimoh Asimi and later Victor Obafaiye.

“On August 19, Victor Obafaiye, the principal witness for the Action Congress in the Kogi State Election Tribunal, was assassinated. Obafaiye was crucial to the case, as he was supposedly in possession of documents that would have served as evidence of election tampering by the PDP House of Assembly [sic] candidate, Dino Melaye,” the US State Department report says.

Addressing a press conference in Lokoja the Kogi State capital on Saturday, Mr. Wisdom Chinedu Ohalete, the Convener of Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Nigeria said heavily armed thugs allegedly sponsored by Mr. Melaye had invaded Kabba/Bunu local government of Kogi on the day of the 2007 election and murdered Alh Jimoh Asimi, who was one of the agents of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at Akefe polling unit of Aiyeteju/Kajola ward in Kabba/Bunu LGA

"From what we gathered and painstakingly took time to investigate, and as reported by Sahara Reporters and other news platforms, two persons namely Mr. Jimoh Asimi and one Hon. Obafaiye lost their lives in questionable circumstances, arising from the violence that greeted the conduct of the 2007 House of Representatives election in which Dino Melaye, now the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 11 election was declared winner and murder that happened a fortnight to cross-examination date of star witness against the case at the Election petition tribunal", Mr. Ohalete noted.

The group says 16 years after they were killed, the bereaved families are still in pain, insisting that only justice can bring succour to their troubled hearts.

While alleging that no report has been made on an earlier investigation conducted on the alleged murder, Mr. Ohalete called for a fresh investigation and bring to justice all those who perpetrated the dastardly act.

"We call on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun to order the relevant authority involved in the investigation to make their report public or at best direct the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State Command and the DPO in charge of Kabba/Bunu to commence fresh investigation on the circumstances surrounding the death of the gentlemen mentioned above, if the previous committee cannot be trusted, in the interest of justice", he demanded.

This comes barely a week ahead of the governorship election in Kogi in which Dino is seeking to be elected as number one citizen of Kogi.

Politics / Kogi 2023: PDP Youth Leader Cautions Dino Melaye Against Heightening Tension by PrincessYemisi: 9:49pm On Nov 02, 2023
The youth wing of the People's Democratic Party in Kogi State issues a caution to Dino Melaye, the party's gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming November 11th election. We implore him to desist from engaging in actions that could disrupt the state's peace before, during, and after the election.

This statement arises from Mr. Melaye's recent press conference where he accused the state governor of sponsoring thuggery and leveled allegations against the state's security agencies, which have been diligently working to ensure a peaceful election.

His attempts to create a controversy are unnecessary. What is the source of his information that emboldens him to address the Nigerian public with such damaging allegations? Claiming that the outgoing government is supporting thugs to disrupt the upcoming elections is uncalled for.

The allegations regarding police uniforms supposedly intended for certain officers appear to be a tactic to sow fear among the state's residents and make them view the police as infiltrated. The scale of these allegations is absurd, and one might question the motives behind this kind of claim. I recommend that the Inspector General of Police kindly invites our candidate to provide further clarification for these sudden allegations.

Despite all the insults from our candidate directed at the APC government under the leadership of His Excellency Yahaya Bello, whom he has accused in various ways, the governor has never interrupted our rallies with the supposed thugs he is accusing him of. Even though we are an opposition party, there has been no mention of any form of attack on our candidate. Unfortunately, our candidate seems to be someone who cries both when he is being beaten and when he is doing the beating. I advise the people of Kogi to disregard such allegations and come out to vote, as the governor advocates for peace and unity.

Jumping to conclusions just for political gain is not a wise strategy. If this individual were your relative, what assistance have you offered to the family since his untimely passing, or do you simply want to create the impression that you are compassionate? Accusing a law enforcement officer on such a scale is unnecessary and unjust. Please do not abandon reason simply because of personal dislikes.

Elections are not a matter of life or death, and spreading allegations of this magnitude will not benefit anyone. How can one claim to have a list of individuals targeted for assassination without providing clear evidence? Humanely speaking, this approach is inappropriate. At this juncture, I kindly request that all security agencies invite our candidate for questioning.

I also want to express my appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, for not allowing distractions or criticism to deter him from taking the necessary actions in the state to safeguard lives and property.

I assure our party members to remain calm and uphold the rule of law, as the elections will be conducted fairly, transparently, and credibly.

The ward executives of Okedayo Ward in Kabba- Bunu Local Government, Kogi State has reversed the suspension of her Local Government Youth Leader, Hon OLUWAKAYODE Emmanuel Eseyin with immediate effect.

The swift reversal of the initial suspension became expedient after an emergency meeting which clearly revealed a gross misinformation and misrepresentation against the person of Hon OLUWAKAYODE Emmanuel Eseyin.

PDP in Okedayo Ward of Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State further affirmed her Youth Leader to be one of the great figures and heavy mobilisers who has demonstrated capacity for the party with records of active performance over the years.

Politics / Crisis Rocks Kogi PDP As Youths Want Melaye's Walk In Kabba Suspended by PrincessYemisi: 9:01pm On Aug 10, 2023
The Chief security Officer,
Kabba Bunu LGA
Kogi state.

DINO MELAYE CAMPAIGN WALK IN KABBA:A SECURUTY THREAT ON KABBA COMMUNITY AND REQUEST FOR PROMT SUSPENSION.
I am writing to respectfully bring to your attention, a matter of significant concern that calls for careful consideration and urgent security action. It is with deep regret that I must request the suspension of the proposed Dino Campaign walk in Kabba, scheduled to hold on Friday 11th August, 2023.
2.The primary reasons for making this request are twofold: the recent loss of a prominent member, who was the candidate of PDP House of Representatives for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency for the February 25th 2023 general elections ,the person of Hon Chief Olaiya Olobatoke and the prevailing atmosphere of potential crisis within the party.
3.Firstly, it is with profound sorrow that I inform you of the passing away of [Hon Chief Olaiya Olobatoke, a highly respected and valued member of our party, who served our party with unwavering dedication and commitment, contributing significantly to our party's objectives and initiatives. The news of his death has left our party members and the community at large in a state of mourning. During this period of bereavement, it would be both insensitive and inappropriate to proceed with any political activities in Kabba as members of the party as well as the community is still in state of mourning.
4.Secondly, there is a growing concern within the PDP Kabba Chapter regarding potential internal conflicts and divisions that may escalate into a crisis. In light of recent developments and heightened tensions, holding a political walk at this juncture could exacerbate the existing discord and possibly lead to undesirable outcomes. It is in the best interest of the party and the broader community to ensure that a conducive and peaceful environment is established before any large-scale gathering takes place.
5.Furthermore, we cannot ignore the prevailing crises within the Party that have arisen in the Kabba Bunu/Ijumu which started during the congress of the just concluded PDP primaries in the month of April, 2023 as well as the governorship primary election, where many delegates were denied rights to vote. The safety and well-being of our party members and the community are of paramount importance to us. Given the sensitive nature of the current situation and the need to maintain a peaceful and secured environment, it would be unwise and inappropriate to proceed with the Dino campaign walk at this time, until all these grievances are smoothly resolved.
6. In light of the above, we kindly request your understanding and cooperation in suspending the proposed Dino campaign walk in Kabba until such time as the security situation stabilizes and our party members have had an opportunity to properly grieve and honor the memory of our departed colleague.
7.We appreciate your understanding in this matter and trust that you share our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all concerned. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will communicate any updates or changes to the Dino campaign walk plans as soon as it is deemed appropriate.
8.As you may know, the kabba Youths are law abiding citizens, Dino campaign walk at this point in time is tantamount to crisis that may be beyond control, so I want to urge all the relevant authorities to call Dino to order and immediately halt this plan for the sake of peace in the community.
9.Thank you for your anticipated understanding and prompt action on this matter as you have usually done.
Yours in Nation Building,
Hon Prince Oluwakayode Emmanuel Eseyin
PDP Youth Leader

"By this historical gesture, Governor Yahaya Bello has undisputably, written his name in gold in Okun land, and this act will certainly not be forgotten by many generations to come.

"The University, haven been established by an Act of the Kogi State parliament, remains a statutory responsibility of every incoming government, regardless of the political party.

"The Okun residents' get-together yesterday in Abuja to celebrate the establishment of the university, cut across all political parties, in which ideas and opinions were shared on how all stakeholders in Okun land can collaborate with the government for the ownership, funding and sustainability of the University.

"It was a great and pleasurable outing on Friday and this wouldn't have happened without the financial benevolence of our own *Hon.Teejay Yusuf and Mr.Olayinka Braimoh* the Kogi State governoship candidate of *Action Alliance,* which is in furtherance of the behind-the-scene roles for the University to come to reality as well as the attestation to their continuous patriotic gestures, which will not be forgotten.

"It is important to appreciate all the co-organizers; Hon.Oluwakayode Emmanuel Eseyin, PDP Youths Leader in Kabba-Bunu Local goverment Hon.Tunde Akanmidu,Hon.Seyi Babaeko, Comrade Edwin Olorunfemi for such comfortable and satisfactory arrangement.

"Our profound respect and gratitude to all patriotic Okun residents in Abuja who,out of their busy schedules, attended the gathering,as well as those who expressed their solidarities but couldn't be physically present. Special appreciation also to our own ATM *Tunmise Aiyenale* for the back up provided.

Business / Stop Undermining Fcta's Harmonised Revenue Drive, Nwokocha Advises AMAC Chairman by PrincessYemisi: 11:39am On Jan 09, 2023
The vice president (operations) of National Freight and Haulers Association, NFHA and a technical partner to the Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Ebere Nwokocha has called on the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC Hon. Christopher Zakka not to undermine the efforts put in place by the FCTA in harmonising revenue emblems in the six area councils.

Mr. Nwokocha accused AMAC of printing revenue emblems they are not constitutionally empowered to produce, insisting that this will thwart the effort to stop revenue leakage in the FCT.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja at the weekend, Mr. Nwokocha expressed dissatisfaction with the indiscriminate arrest of NFHA staff by an aide of the chairman identified as Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf whom he also accused of being directly involved in illegal printing of revenue emblems to swindle unsuspecting residents of the FCT.

According to Mr. Nwokocha, the launch of FCTA harmonised mobile adverts revenue for the six area councils November last year by the Minister of FCT, Muhammad Musa Bello represented by the ministry's permanent secretary, Adesola Olusade was aimed at ending illegality and activities of criminal elements who feed fat from revenue leakage in the FCT.

He said this may be thwarted if the AMAC chairman does not call his aide, Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf and his collaborators to order, maintaining that his illegally printed revenue emblems which he sells to unsuspecting residents must not be allowed to continue.

"It must also be made clear that Mr. Yunusa with one Haliru Ismaila and one Ignatius Okechukwu have raked illegal revenue in essence of N200m in AMAC and we had thought that the launch of the harmonised mobile adverts revenue emblem would have ended their illegality but that is not the case.

"All the six area council chairmen were present at the launch of this document November last year at International Conference Centre. Despite the warning by the Minister, these individuals have continued with their nefarious trade, disobeying constituted authorities with impunity.

"We all know that all revenues due to the government should go to the Treasury Single Account from where the six area councils factor out a sharing formula. But I can tell you, millions of Naira have ended up in the pocket of Mr. Yunusa and cohorts", he stated.

Mr. Nwokocha further denied receiving revenues on behalf of AMAC, stating that his organisation, NFHA as a technical partner to the department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage, DOAS only markets the harmonised emblems.

He also queried where Yunusa derived his power to arrest officials of NFHA who are only carrying out their official assignments, warning that further harassment of NFHA staff will be met with stiff resistance.

"I also want to use this opportunity to advise FCT residents to henceforth stop paying their mobile advert revenue to AMAC agents. The Minister has given a stern warning that anyone doing this will have himself to blame.

"All revenue from mobile advert are to be paid to the Federal Capital Territory Administration through the Treasury Single Account. It is also illegal for any agency of government to use a departmental account to receive public revenue", he warned.

Mr. Nwokocha therefore appealed to AMAC to henceforth desist from receiving public revenue with departmental account but direct same to TSA.

According to him, his organisation is working with the FCTA task force to ensure the prompt arrest of perpetrators of illegality in collection of revenues accrued to administration, including those who smuggle revenue emblems from neighbouring states to shortchange FCTA.

Events / Group, Value System Initiative Takes Succour To Abuja Idps by PrincessYemisi: 8:45pm On Dec 25, 2022
In the spirit of the yuletide, a non-governmental organisation with core focus in advancing civic engagement, humanitarian outreach, youth and women empowerment, Value System Initiative (VSI) has identified with internally displaced persons in Abuja and brought smile on their faces.

The group founded by a fintech expert Mr. John 'Freeman' Ondoma had at the weekend visited IDP camp in new Kuchingoro area of the nation's capital and doled out relief materials and other gift items.

This is a follow up to a similar exercise in March this year as part of activities to mark Mr. Ondoma's birthday.

Speaking with reporters shortly after the exercise, Ondoma who is the chairman of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Abuja, said the exercise is also in the spirit of the season, Christmas which he said is a period to demonstrate love, brotherliness, selflessness and patriotism.

Ondoma urged the IDPs to keep hope alive despite the plethora of challenges that have befallen them, displacing them from their ancestral homes in various parts of the North East as a result of the insurgency in the region.

"Inspite of the challenges and hardship in town, they should not give up hope. Most importantly, they must not relent in efforts to engage in their civic responsibilities to our great country.

Politics / NPL Seeks Declaration Of December 12 National Leadership Day by PrincessYemisi: 9:58pm On Dec 15, 2022
NPL Seeks Declaration Of December 12 National Leadership Day

As Nigeria grapples with leadership challenges across various sectors, Nigerian Prize for Leadership (NPL) has called on Federal Government to declare December 12 every year a national leadership day, beginning from 2023.

NPL while reaffirming its belief that the task of nation-building is a joint effort of both government and citizens, said it will continue to lead the way in supporting government to appropriately address the challenge of leadership deficit in the country.

"Since 2020 we have set aside the 12th of December each year to call attention to the importance of effective leadership in building our nation", the chairman NPL Governing Board, Prof. Anya O. Anya said at the investiture of former Executive Secretary of TETFund, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro as the winner 2021 Nigeria Prize For Leadership recently in Abuja.

"This is the third edition of this initiative and we can confirm that the value has been significant. We will explore way forward on how we will amplify this modest effort into a national movement that will with time redefine Nigeria as a symbol of right values, honesty and integrity, a truly pan-Nigerian initiative" Prof. Anya further stated.

He pledged the readiness of NPL to provide adequate content to effectively mark the day in a most rewarding way for all citizens, government and the nation.

Prof. Anya while underlining that getting it right in leadership has become a matter of urgent action expressed belief that setting a day aside for this purpose will demonstrate government's disposition to redefine the character of leadership in the country, as well as enable citizens and organizations to give it exceptional attention.

Backing this call, the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Prize for Leadership, Dr. Ike Neliaku said the organization's experience in the past three years indicates that Nigerians desire exceptional leadership, which he said NPL is working tirelessly towards providing quality input.

"We believe that as we continue to do this, to mark this day, it is something that will raise leadership consciousness in the minds of Nigerians. It is a very important call, a day we will look at issues of leadership, identify models of leadership, those who have done well, we celebrate them.

"NPL is willing to partner with the federal government to develop the content for this day, qualitative content that will answer its name in all ramifications", he stated.

Prof. Bogoro in his response expressed gratitude to the NPL selection panel as well as the Governing Board for finding him fit for the N25m prize award, saying the transparency and confidentiality deployed in screening nominees for the Prize, which later produced him as winner should serve as a guide to other institutions. He expressed gladness that his modest efforts in setting the leadership pace with the privileged positions he had occupied are being recognized and appreciated.

Prof. Bogoro attributed failure of leadership to local authorities, states, region and entire country to selfishness and desperate quest for personal profits.

"Most leaders who failed the country and the people are those who pre-occupy themselves with personal interests and in the process, they are not bothered about the moral obligations of rendering service and emphasizing on personal privileges at the expense of the people you are called to lead, or indeed serve.

"This is because many of us don't bother to know that the best stewardship is servant leadership", he said.

Chairman of the prize presentation and the Vice Chairman, Governing Board of NPL, Prof. Jerry Gana said the selection and screening panel made up of eminent Nigerians independently assembled from various parts of the country set a standard with which all nominees were screened and Prof. Bogoro emerged winner.

He said the selection panel led by Engr. Mansur Ahmad, a forner Group Executive Director of NNPC and immediate past president of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, was very independent without any interference from the Governing Board.

Bursted: Lagos Baby Mama Under Fire For Reaping Off Ex-Lover, Accused Of Greed, Blackmail

A Lagos baby mama, Natasha Abba George, popularly known as Diamond Gold has come under fire for allegedly milking her former lover, Lanre Teriba popularly known as Atorise with reckless abandon and impunity while also ridiculing him on her social media pages, begging & pressuring different bloggers to help her in dragging the father of her children over irresponsibility.

She has since sued her ex-lover, demanding a whopping sum of N100m in compensation despite not being in a legally binding marriage contract with him.

Our correspondent was reliably informed that Atorise started having a rethink about their relationship when he discovered that Natasha was into "hook up" and worked as a PRO in a certain club in Lagos Nigeria. We also gathered that ever since the relationship between the duo started, she has been keeping record of their telephone conversations and chats as part of evidence to pursue her nefarious ambitions in court.

It is also surprising how she goes about tarnishing the image of the father of her children, whose name they bear as their surname. She has also been accused of embarking on his mission to cause her ex-lover losses since she has nothing to lose.

According to a Lagos based OAP, Name withheld, who claims to be aware of the deals between the two ex-lovers spoke with our correspondent on Friday 9th of December.
She however wondered why Natasha has resorted to maligning and blackmailing the father of her children despite his efforts to ensure that they live a decent and comfortable life.
She further explains that she knew the both lovers even before their relationship started flourishing and later hit the rock. She frowned at Natasha's penchant for dragging her ex-lover, Atorise on social media without any justifiable reason.

She then says “For me, the only thing is that, Natasha's attitude to this whole avoidable drama clearly shows criminal greed, a woman who is greedy and unhappy with herself at the same time. She is bittered and feasts on blackmailing the father of her children at any slightest provocation. She lies seamlessly and with utmost ease, sadly a lot of people are easily carried away by her cunning antics. I think it will be evil for me to keep quiet and watch her feed the public with half truths, and barefaced lies just to curry their sympathy when I know the true situation of things.

"This is somebody whose accommodation is being paid for by the same man she desperately seeks to pull down. The same man ensures the prompt payment of her children’s school fees as well as the monthly allowances and make sure they lacks nothing at home. He ensures their medical bills are paid, ensures that she and her children have sound & healthy condition yet all he gets is premeditated wickedness and evil in reward. Natasha this is very mean of you!!!”

The OAP whose name has been withheld further stated that despite taking Atorise to court, Natasha has consistently resorted to self-help by contemptuously bringing the matter on social media, while she pays blogs to dish out false contents. wondering if she has lost confidence in the country's judiciary.

The lady however challenged Natasha to make available to the public her statement of account from 2020 at the peak of COVID-19 till date, if she claims her ex-lover has not done enough to cater for her and her children.

"While people sat at home, without any business or economic activities, Atorise ensured that he fulfils his obligations as a responsible father. I can tell you that all the funds Natasha received from him in 2020 alone is in excess of N2m. What else does she want?

"Is she still feasting on her own flesh that the relationship failed? Is she still nursing the pain of a heartbreak for which she ought to have moved forward after several years? Does she have ulterior motive? Has she not done him enough damage with the plethora of lies she dishes out on the social media? I feel deeply pained and I believe she is being engineered by unseen forces. It remains to be seen what their intents are" she said.

She further stated with proofs that Natasha is on monthly allowance for her upkeep and that of her children, wondering why she would not protect the dignity of her children by ending her orgy of bitterness against her ex-lover and stop dragging him on the social media.

She urged Natasha to stop relying on traditional means to get what she wants but allow the court to decide on the matter, insisting that Atorise has done a lot in showing care.

She then finally concluded by saying “Natasha is pained to her marrow that Atorise has dumped her. After his findings of her been a prostitute with tattoos all over her body which he frowned at. I mean Who wouldn't dump her with this untamed show of frustration, bitterness and love for lesser powers? She has looked forward to milking an innocent man dry with her inordinate demands but that has not worked for her, now she has deployed cheap blackmail. This will fail too. The wheel of justice may be slow but it will definitely grind. The court will have the final decision" the source added.

All efforts to get a response from Natasha proved abortive as her telephone lines were switched off.

Family / Usman Joins In 16 Days Of Activism Against GBV, Lauds Women Affairs Minister by PrincessYemisi: 7:15am On Dec 09, 2022
The founder, HalimaFactor Community Initiative, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the enhancement of education, health and environment, Halima Usman has joined women across the world in participating in the 2022 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, calling for an end to all forms of gender-related violence.

"And I say all forms of gender-based violence, it can be man against the woman, it can be woman against the man or against the children. This is not a good thing. All hands must be on deck to fight this scourge" she said in a video posted on her Instagram story.

Adorning an orange-coloured muffler around her neck and a native dress with a touch of same colour, she said the campaign is in solidarity with the good work the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Paulin Tallen is doing to raise awareness against the scourge of sexual and gender-based violence.

"I lend my voice to the good work our mother, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Paulin Tallen is doing in this regard. Thank you for taking the lead, thank you for what you are doing in ensuring that gender-related violence is reduced to the barest minimum, not just in Nigeria but in the world at large"she added.

According to the United Nations Population Fund, at least 1 in 3 Nigerian women have experienced physical violence before the age of 15, which has in recent times been exacerbated by the activities of insurgents in the North East. They range from forced and early marriages to the physical, mental or sexual assault on a woman.

Usman therefore appealed to stakeholders, particularly parents, religious and traditional leaders to use their privileged positions to drive awareness among their children and subjects on the need to shun all forms of violence in the society.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
