VisaOfficer:
On Fridays if you show up to drop off documents, you don't need an appointment. But please remember that we are closed on holidays and on the last Friday of the month. You can also use the attached form to drop those documents off at the collection center, any time.
Good afternoon Visa Officer thank you so much for your selflessness.I got called to submit my international passport along with my new police report & medical results.I was told to bring the above to the Consulate on any of the fridays except on last friday of any month. From the above qoute you said one can also submit at the collection center but would need the "attached form to drop off" the documents. My question is: may I drop off my passport, medical result & police report at the collection center,& if yes,how do i obtain "the attached form to drop off" my documents.

Being that our marriage is over 3 years now,can I request that our visa status be updated to IR1 instead of the CR1 with which we began with,& if yes how do I go about it.Again thank you much.-A S Rufus

I can't comment on administrative processing -- except to say that I did just "strongly recommend" that this case be prioritized, since it's a reaffirmed case. Hopefully that will get the gears turning more quickly...
We appreciate your help & we are thanking you for this.Kind regards.

Goodmorning VO,
My wife & I are hoping to start our lives together soon, after three years of separation. We both want to have kid(s) together but the stressful situation we both find ourselves has made this difficult,I for one have been so much affected for I'm having to deal with so much matters which has affected my person (emotionally),I,no longer having that cheerful dispostion like I used to,also my wife isn't getting any younger as she is almost entering menopause. We have endured so much.I often tell her how much of help you've been to others, all with the aim of getting her to come on here to interact with you like other US petitioners have done but she prefers writing the Consulate directly.I sometimes wish she would, just to see if that would help our visa case like it did help other US citizen petitioners on here, many who now have their spouses with them.Having said this, pls, should we hope to hear from you soon? Our kind regards.-

Many thanks for your response. The only mail sent to the Consulate concerning this recent matter was sent after the above reply was given.Any other mail pls verify to avoid complicating my visa case. Our kind regards.-A S Rufus.

Asking for an update but the officer is away from the office until Monday...
A very good afternoon to you,VO.I wasn't really asking for update, for I know I may not get any because of the Consulate policy. All I was & I'm asking is that you & your hardworking team should pls not forget us.I noticed that most visa cases on AP before & after our case have been worked on & have been resolved. Many thanks. Our kind regards.

A very good morning to you VO.
In the responses we sometimes get from the Consulate when we do ask for update,we were told to email when & if we do have "new information" or "new questions".My wife (my petitioner) is currently with me in Nigeria & we would like to know if informing the US Consulate will help our visa case & if we can request for another interview for both of us considering the above. She is staying for about two weeks.Your directions will be appreciated. Our Kind Regards. Welcome back CO,hope your vacation was a pleasant one.
I recently sent the consulate an email after 3 months on AP,requesting for any update but got the usual response.I'm aware you don't give details here on any visa case & I'm not asking you do.All I'm requesting is that you'll please help us speed up this process.3 months in my humble view is enough considering that I live not far from the Consulate. This long separation is interfering with my life & work.Case # LGS2013530028.Many Thanks Madam.

Bon jour,

It can raise red flags when the information people submit on various applications is contradictory.
True,I now realize what a red flag such a huge blunder can be & what a big complication it may have caused my wife & I.Thank you for your response. -Akinduro S R
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by printemps:
Bonjour Monsieur/Madame Consulaire!
While having a conversation with a frien bhd yesterday concerning joining my wife & my current AP issue at the US consulate,he asked me if I have ever applied for the US DV-Lottery in the past,to which i said yes, almost every year since i turned 18 years old.He also asked if I have ever applied as married to which i said no.He went further to say that "usually when the US consulate question a visa case its because they have certain information about bhi visa case which often is based on the information given in previous applications".
In 2009 some in my immediate family & myself applied for the DV-Lottery through an agent in a cybercafe whom i understood did some mistakes in our applications. My brother, who at the time had two kids, had his application submitted without his kids attached to his application. These kids were rather attached to my application.I even learnt that my cousin's daughter was even attached to my DV application for that year. With this huge blunder i decided never again to go through agents but to do-it-myself since i did the previous ones myself. In 2010 when i applied again this was corrected,as the previous ones before 2009.
Since yesterday I had this conversation,I have been brainstoriming & wondering if this was the reason why the consulate questioned my marriage & wanted to investigate.Well,if it is,i have nothing to hide.Like i said before & i'm reiterating that I have never been married b,efore i married my wife & what is more i don't have any child from any woman,if DNA test is neccessary to prove this my wife & I would resort to this, all I want is to be with my wife because I'm tired of this long wait, putting my marital life on hold.My question to you sir/madam is:Do you use past DV-Lottery applications that was never selected for further processing against visa applicants? My kind regards. -A S Rufus

VisaOfficer:
Good morning,

Due to our caseload, there is no way for people to book an appointment here if there's no active case. Because you don't have an active case here at the moment, you wouldn't be able to book an appointment.

Thank you for your kind words!
Can you, please, explain what you meant when you said the above to angrybird?

Please CO,do not let my so many questions bother you or give you a wrong impression of me as being confrontational or contentious. Its just I need clarifications,so that,if we're able take advantage of whatever provisions is available to us in order to help our situation we would. My kind Regards.-A S Rufus.

A very pleasant morning CO.In one of your post here you said appointments will have to be made if petitioners want to come make inquiry about their pending visa case. Can a born US citizen petitioner who has a spouse under AP come make inquiry & speak to you directly? If yes,how can such appointments be made?Thanks/Merci/Gracias. - A S Rufus

VisaOfficer:
Actually, I don't know much about transit visas. Have you asked on the other thread?

No offense taken. It's natural to be angry and frustrated when these processes take longer than expected. We do actually give precedence to CR1 / IR1 cases over K1s because there's an actual spouse involved in CR1/IR1 cases; can I ask where the impression that we make CR1/IR1s wait comes from? (I'm asking so I can figure out how to fix the problem.) Again, no offense taken, it's okay to have strong feelings about this.
No,I have not asked from the non-immigrant forum.

Please,my reason for asking if more preferencial treatment is given to K1 compared to CR1/IR1 is because on some sites like visajourney.com & other sites & forums set up by immigration attys i read of more K1 on AP cases being resolved quickly than CR1/IR1.Most CRI/IR1 are still pending, some after 1 year or more, which make me wonder why.

I can recall you saying somewhere in this forum that visa cases on AP & beneficiaries living around Lagos can expect to have their cases resolved faster.I hope this applies to me cause i reside here in Surulere Lagos which is a 15/20 minutes drive from the US Consulate,so do most of my other contacts.Grand Merci Monsieur/Madame Consulaire.-Akinduro Sunday.
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by printemps:
Goodmorning CO,many thank you for acknowledging the receipt of our contact sheets.I would like to ask you 3 questions.

1.My wife who is an healthcare worker was recently told again by her employer that she risk the chance of losing her job if she travels to Africa or being put on hold for many weeks before resuming work until she is certified of being free of ebola. For this reason we thought it best to meet in Mexico & spend 3 weeks together since she lives in New Mexico just a few hours from the US-Mexico border. My questions here are:Can i be issued a US transit since there isn't direct flight from Nigeria to Mexico & the cheapest flight to Mexico for the period we consider for this trip is by a US airliner? And I hope my intent to meet my wife close to the US border will not affect in any adverse way my current AP or any decision to be taken with regard to my immigrant visa case?

I was among the winners of the US constitutional essay contest organised by VOA sometime in 2006/2007.In my essay i praised the founding fathers of the US Constitution for their clairvoyance. As a country of immigrants,i appreciate her love for diversity & her wanting to knit family together which is reflected in her constitution. It is sad that today the application of the spirit of her Constitution is no longer what it was.It makes me bitter to see family reunion being treated the way it is.This isn't
healthy for the US society. My question is:Does the US consulate lagos give married couple more priority when it comes to timing? This i asked because the bulk of completed investigations by your field officers which have led to visa issuance are for k1 & most Cr1/IR1 are made to wait much longer. Please i mean no offense, its just how i feel.My kind regards.-Akinduro Sunday.

Thank you for the good job & for being of real help to folks like us.My wife & i sometimes wish we could speak to the supervising CO to listen to our story with regard to our visa case which is now under AP.Its been 2yrs 6 months & 10days we've been married,& we only spent a month & two weeks the two times she came.We had many issues that affected our visa case process which i implore you to look into & not that we're not bona fide. The several evidence submitted & which you have with you in the consulate in my humble view are enough to demonstrate the genuiness of our relationship. My wife's long absence were due to the complexity of our situation & certain situations beyond our control. For instance we were RFE by the USCIS for almost five months for my wife's divorce decree dissolving her 1st marriage which we could not locate during that time. She lost her job after she came to stay with me for a month which put on hold for six months our AOS at the NVC stage. All these affected our visa case by the time i appeared for my 1st visa interview & this led the CO to doubt the bona fide our relationship. Also after our petition got reaffirmed by USCIS she wanted to be here with me even before my 2nd visa interview despite having booked a flight ticket but my nine year old step daughter was worried about her mum never coming back alive again because she feared her mum will be infected with ebola which coupled with pressures by other family members made her suffer emotional stress. This made her cancel her trip. All this detail & the evidence of her already booked flight ticket i offered to the interviewing CO but she declined.Everyday i sleep & that i wake i feel lonely without my wife, this is my 1st & only marriage, this long separation is killing us.You can investigate us but pls dont make us wait
for too long. Our case number is LGS2013530028.Thank you once again.-A S Rufus (jnr)
