Growing up was fun and filled with misbehaviours. Even the gentle kids do offend their parents and they will receive their punishment accordingly. Do you prefer to be starved or beaten when you offended your parents. |

As more reactions continue to trail the recent declaration by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that no indigenous coach would be saddled with the responsibility of handling the Super Eagles, Dutch coach, Jo Bonfrere who led Nigeria to Atlanta 1996 Olympic feat has thrown his weight behind the latest move saying the indigenous coaches lack exposure to excel. “It is difficult for the local coaches to coach Super Eagles because they don’t have experience in international football outside Africa.” Bonfrere opined. “They have their coaching experience from inside Nigeria, not outside, so it is very difficult for the local coaches to handle teams successfully. “In Africa, if you have local coaches in your teams, it’s likely there’s going to be no result, but with foreign coaches, you have more chances of getting success. Speaking further Bonfrere reiterates that Nigeria’s inability to surpass his achievement in 1996 was as a result of pressure coming from all angles. “Your local coaches don’t always succeed because you have too many people who put pressure on them and again international football is beyond the local coach”. Port Harcourt based teams, Dolphins Football Club and Sharks will now be known as Rivers United as the League Management Company (LMC) has granted the Garden City based teams approval to merge into one, to become Rivers United The commissioner for Sports on behalf of the Rivers state government had sought the permission of the LMC to have a new name as well as their logo, which has now been granted by the football body. The chairman of the LMC Shehu Dikko in a telephone chat with Channels Sports disclosed that the Rivers state government was advised to merge both Sharks of Port Harcourt and Dolphins together. “We had advised state governments that own two clubs to merge them in to one, especially to run a proper club. So they hid to our advice considered it for several months. “Of course, they had to do several consultations with the stakeholders and stuffs like that. They have applied properly and the state government have written to us that they want to merge the two clubs and I can confirm they are looking for investors to buy the other club in the National League (Sharks’ position in the NNL). “The Dolphins and Sharks management as well as their players have been merged together. They have a new logo and we hope this would be better way to identify the club,” he said. www.nigeriannewspapers.today/2016/02/19/dolphins-sharks-change |
