A former Nigerian boxer and first-ever Olympic medalist, Nojim Maiyegun has died at the age of 83.

A confidante, Rudolfine F Soultan, confirmed the death of the boxer in a Facebook post on Monday.

The post read, “My Jimmy died. I can’t say more about this right now because it’s just horrible. The day after tomorrow, we would have been together for 17 years.”

Maiyegun as per The Cable breathed his last on Monday morning at his base in Vienna, Austria.

Maiyegun was reportedly battling an unnamed illness for a couple of months.

At 23, he won Nigeria’s first Olympic media (Bronze) in the light-heavyweight boxing category at Tokyo 1964.

In the second round of the competition, he defeated Great Britain’s William Robinson in just one minute and 59 seconds.

He defeated Tom Bogs of Denmark in the quarter-final before losing to France’s Joseph Gonzalez in the semi-final.

Maiyegun and Poland’s Józef Grzesiak settled for the bronze.

Two years later, in 1966, he won another bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica.

A six-year-old boy missing for four days was found alive in a forest in a mountainous part of northern Vietnam, police said Thursday.

The child was reported missing on Saturday after he failed to return home with his siblings from a celebration at a relative’s house in Yen Bai province.

Police in Lam Giang commune launched a search for the boy and “even dried up a pond as they were afraid he had fallen,” an officer, who declined to give his name, told AFP

Over the past four days, more than 200 people joined a search for the boy, according to state media.

He was finally found on Wednesday, the police official said.

“We were told that the boy was tired. They gave him things to eat and checked his health. He is ok now,” the police official told AFP.

State media reported that a man had heard crying and discovered the exhausted boy covered in mud, sitting in a cassava bush in the forest.

Lam’s mother, Ly Thi Phai, told the VietnamNet news site of her relief.

“I was so happy that my child had returned alive,” she said.

“I cried because he looked thinner and weaker than before he disappeared.”

According to state media, the boy said he had become lost in the forest and the more he walked, the more disorientated he became.

To survive, he said he drank water from a stream and picked leaves and wild fruits he recognised.

In 2024, Asake released 'Only Me' and 'Wave' featuring Central Cee which is one of the tracks on the 'Lungu Boy'.

The album comes ahead of Asake's upcoming 'Lungu Boy' tour which will include stops at the famous O2 Arena which he previously headlined in 2023 and the iconic Madison Square Garden which will make him only the fourth Nigerian artist to headline the venue.

Former President Donald Trump was rushed off stage by the Secret Service at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday after shots were fired, and taken to a local medical facility where he is receiving care.

He was quickly swarmed by secret service agents and rushed off stage to a waiting vehicle. He raised a fist as he was bundled into the car.

His spokesman said the former president “will be fine.”

The suspect was shot dead at the scene by US Secret Service agents, the service’s spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said. He added that one bystander was killed in the shooting and two others were critically injured

Hello guys, today I will be educating us about what we need to make a happy home from a lady's perspective. And am going to be presenting the topic "SECRET OF A HAPPY HOME FOR WOMEN"
The secrets of a Happy Home for Women appears to be a collection of advice aimed at promoting harmonious relationships and marital bliss from a traditional and conservative perspective. I will be listing some here but more is on my page.
Here's a breakdown of each point:

1. No man is perfect - Acceptance and understanding that men have flaws and weaknesses.

2. Men are like children. So be like his mother - Nurturing and caring for your partner like a mother would.

3. Hear quickly; talk slowly - Listen actively and respond thoughtfully to avoid conflicts.

4. Never compete with a man - Avoid rivalries and comparisons, focusing on mutual support instead.

5. Never try to be equal with him - Embrace complementary roles and avoid struggles for dominance.

6. Be fast to apologize when you know you are wrong - Take responsibility and apologize promptly to resolve conflicts.

7. Don't be too jealous with him - Trust and security are essential; excessive jealousy can harm relationships.

8. (No specific point mentioned)

9. Always be honest as a wife - Truthfulness and transparency are vital in a marriage.

10. Never leave your house for a long distance without his permission - Respect and communicate travel plans.

11. Know and prepare his favorite foods - Show love and care through small gestures.

12. Don't let your husband get in the house with a parcel in his hand - Show appreciation and help with carrying burdens.

13. Try to make a budget together - Collaborate on financial decisions.

14. Be his adviser, not a criticizer - Offer supportive guidance rather than criticism.

Remember, these points reflect a traditional and conservative viewpoint, and not all relationships or individuals may align with these perspectives. Healthy relationships prioritize mutual respect, trust, communication, and equality.
