For me, the issue is this: why would a wife insist that her husband's corpse must be buried in a cemetery rather than in his own home, if that was his wish or the family's tradition? I find the situation quite disturbing.

Nollywood veteran actor Francis Ogide Duru a.k.a Ahanna has died at the age of 57 following a brief illness, according to an announcement by his family on his official Instagram page.

The family announced his passing in a statement, saying, “We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness.

“We appreciate your prayers, love, and understanding. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

The Actors Guild of Nigeria also confirmed the news through its official Instagram page.

The guild’s president, Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, mourned the actor, writing, “Another great thespian gone….Rest in peace Francis Duru!!”

Born on July 27, 1969, Duru was a veteran figure in Nollywood, known for his contributions to the Nigerian film industry over the years.

Nigerian singer Mr Eazi has suggested that becoming Afrobeats’ first US dollar billionaire could happen sooner than people expect, while insisting that wealth is not his main goal.

During an interview, the singer was asked whether he was on his way to becoming Afrobeats’ first billionaire.

“Depends on what currency you’re talking about,” he replied.

When the interviewer clarified that he meant naira, Mr Eazi affirmed that he was already a billionaire in the currency.

Asked about US dollars, he responded, “US dollars, you know, soon come,” adding that the milestone could happen “anytime now”.

However, the singer stressed that becoming a billionaire was not his target, explaining that he valued the freedom to pursue his musical ambitions on his own terms.

“I’m not really looking for, that’s not the target,” he said.

“Freedom very big to me. Freedom musically, freedom to be able to put out music freely,” he added.

The conversation also touched on his business interests, including his stake in a UK ticketing company.

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has revealed that he has been living with diabetes since 1996, saying his years of experience with the condition have helped him understand his health better.

The actor made this disclosure during a recent episode on ‘Talk to B’ Show.

“I have been diabetic since 1996; I have been managing it. I understand my health better than some doctors do. Do not misquote me. I am not saying I know how to do everything, I just do not want to die,” Kosoko said.

The veteran actor also spoke about his personal life, revealing that he had lost three wives, including the mother of his daughter, Bidemi Kosoko, who died during childbirth.

“I lost my wife during childbirth; that’s Bidemi’s mother. I have lost three wives,” he said.

The shocking story of Chinaza, a 16-year-old girl from the Nenwe community in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, has sparked massive national outrage. Her ordeal has left many asking: How can a community punish an innocent child for a crime committed against her?

THE TRAGIC BACKSTORY
For months, 16-year-old Chinaza was subjected to horrific abuse by her own biological father. The abuse was kept hidden behind closed doors until the physical consequences could no longer be hidden—the underage girl became pregnant. Under local customs in Nenwe, incest is treated as an "aru" (an abomination or severe spiritual taboo) that threatens to bring a curse upon the land.

THE PUBLIC BANISHMENT
Instead of treating Chinaza as a victim who desperately needed protection, the village elders took immediate traditional action. On Tuesday, October 15, 2026, both the father and the pregnant minor were summoned.
In a heartbreaking video that went viral across social media, the duo was publicly humiliated. Fresh palm fronds (Omu)—the traditional Igbo symbol used to denote sacred restrictions and abominations—were tied around their bodies. Surrounded by a hostile mob, they were paraded out of the village, cursed, and permanently expelled. The community literally drove a pregnant child into the streets, leaving her stranded in the custody of her abuser.

THE NATIONAL OUTCRY
As the video circulated online, a massive wave of anger erupted across Nigeria. Human rights activists, citizens, and legal bodies fiercely condemned the village elders. The primary source of outrage was simple: Why was a minor being penalized for being abused? By banishing them together, the village had failed to differentiate between a criminal rapist and his underage victim. Under the Nigerian Child Rights Act, Chinaza is a child who is legally incapable of giving consent.

THE GOVERNMENT STEPS IN
Thankfully, the Enugu State Government heard the cries of the public. Under the directive of the state leadership, the Enugu State Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development successfully traced Chinaza and rescued her. She has since been moved into a secure, state-managed protective shelter.
The State Commissioner, Ngozi Enih, strongly condemned the actions of the Nenwe community, stating:
"No child should ever be blamed, rejected, or punished for being a victim of sexual abuse."

WHERE THINGS STAND NOW
👉 Medical & Psychological Care: Chinaza is currently undergoing intensive medical evaluation and professional trauma counseling to help her heal from this horrific experience.

👉 Call for Accountability: Civil society groups are now demanding that the state government sanction the village elders who authorized the public shaming and illegal banishment of a minor.
This heartbreaking case is a stark reminder that our laws must always protect the vulnerable, and tradition must never be used as an excuse to punish victims of abuse.

I posted this few days ago on Nairaland when the incident just happened, and some people were supporting the Indians saying that the truck driver must have done something very bad. I didn't agree with them, because even if that was the cause they have no right to inflict such pain and torture on them. We Nigerians like to support the foreigners over our selves, which is very bad. Well, am glad the culprits have been arrested and brought to book.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested an Indian national and two security operatives following an alleged assault on two truck drivers at Karma Agric Feeds and Foods Limited, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan.

The arrests followed the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing the assault, which attracted the attention of the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed in a statement that the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed detectives to identify and apprehend those involved.

The suspects were identified as Olowu Oluwadamilare and Sodeke Olamide, both security operatives attached to the company, and Harjit Singh, a 46-year-old Indian national associated with the firm.

According to preliminary police investigations, the incident began with a disagreement over the parking of a truck that had delivered goods to the company.

The truck owner, Akinpelu Sarafa, 47, reportedly said the driver objected to a designated parking space because he feared it could damage the truck's tyres. However, the driver was allegedly compelled to park there, after which one of the tyres burst.

The disagreement reportedly escalated when the driver requested a replacement tyre, but the company allegedly declined to provide one.

The police said the driver subsequently used his truck to block the company's entrance, triggering a physical confrontation involving the drivers, security operatives and the Indian national.

The two victims were identified as Ridwan Olajide, 34, and Taiwo Yinusa, 37. Both were taken to a hospital in the Academy area of Ibadan for medical attention.

The investigating police officer reportedly visited the victims at the hospital and obtained their statements as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case has since been transferred to the Special Enquiry Bureau in Eleyele, Ibadan, for further investigation.

The police said investigations were ongoing to determine the respective roles and culpability of everyone involved.

The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the law applies equally to individuals and organisations, urging members of the public to remain calm as investigations continue.

Today was a painful day for me as a Nigerian

This evening, while scrolling through my phone, I came across a disturbing video showing two Nigerian truck drivers being beaten mercilessly, humiliated, and manhandled by Indians, with some fellow Nigerians allegedly joining in to oppress them.

But do you know what pained me the most?

It wasn't just the fact that the Indians were beating my fellow Nigerians. It was the sight of Nigerians allegedly helping to drag them down, pinning them to the floor, and verbally abusing them instead of standing up for their fellow countrymen.

Honestly, what do we call this? Betrayal? Selfishness? Or a desperate attempt to protect one's job at the expense of another person's dignity?

I understand that people have jobs to protect and livelihoods to secure. But should that come at the cost of our humanity? Must we humiliate our fellow citizens just to please others or protect our personal interests?

Today, it is these truck drivers. Tomorrow, it could be you or someone you love.

We may have our differences, but at the end of the day, we are all Nigerians. If we cannot stand up for one another when it matters most, then what does our national identity truly mean?

My question to you is this: Were those Nigerians simply trying to protect their jobs, or was this a case of betraying their fellow countrymen?

A young boy, believed to be around 4 years old, was swept away by devastating floodwaters in a community in Enugu State.

The flood reportedly destroyed homes and properties and claimed lives, leaving families devastated. But somehow, this little boy survived what seemed like an impossible situation.

Exactly 24 hours after he was carried away by the flood, he was found alive in a lagoon by passers-by. 😭🙏

How did this little child survive the strong currents, hunger, pain, exhaustion, and the dangers lurking in the water for an entire day? It remains a mystery.

For me, this is nothing short of a miracle. I am deeply grateful to God Almighty for preserving this child's life. Looking at everything he went through and still seeing him alive is truly heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time.

This little boy is brave, strong, and incredibly resilient. ❤️🙏

"I don't want my father jailed" A 19-year-old girl who has been sxually abused by her father in ikorodu Lagos state

A 19-year-old lady has found herself torn between seeking an end to years of alleged sexual abuse by her father and seeing him sent to prison.

She alleged that her father, Uche Didie, a 43-year-old man from Delta State, first sexually abused her in 2019 when she was 12 years old.

According to her, the abuse continued for years until Sunday, September 6, 2026, when she finally found the courage to disclose her ordeal to someone outside the family.
According to her, she decided to speak out to end the abuse, she did not want her father to be jailed because she feared it would destroy the family.

Didie was arrested by members of the Oodua People's Congress (OPC) before being handed over to the Police Tactical Unit in Araro, Ikorodu.

He was later transferred to the Gender Unit.
Speaking with The Guardian, the young lady, who recently completed her secondary education, alleged that her father had been sexually abusing her since 2019.
He has been having sxual intercourse with me since
2019. I have never had a boyfriend. My dad is the only man who has had carnal knowledge of me," she said.

Asked whether she had ever tried to stop the abuse, she said she eventually confided in a close friend, who is the son of their pastor.
"I wanted it to stop, and that's why I told our pastor's son. I want him to be released, but I will stop staying with my parents. I will go to my grandmother in Agege or my aunt in Egbeda," she said.

She alleged that the abuse began when her father forced himself on her and warned her not to tell anyone.

"He did not convince me; he forced himself on me. He always asked me not to tell anyone and said he would beat me if
I told anybody. Sometimes, he also bought me gifts," she alleged.

She said the abuse occurred about once or twice a month and that she had earlier told her mother, who confronted Dad.

"I told my mum about it and she confronted him, but he denied it. Despite acknowledging that her father's arrest might be necessary, she said she did not want him imprisoned

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has lost her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan, who died on Monday while receiving treatment at a hospital in Zanzibar.

The death of Tanzania’s First Gentleman was officially announced by Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi, according to the BBC.

Ndejembi said Ameir had been suffering from a heart condition and died at 8 am local time on Monday at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar.

The Vice-President added that funeral arrangements were underway in Kizimkazi, a village on Zanzibar.

Ameir, an agricultural academic, largely kept a low public profile and rarely appeared alongside his wife at official events.

He became Tanzania’s first First Gentleman after Samia became president in March 2021.

The couple married in 1978, before Samia entered national politics, and had four children — three sons and a daughter. Their daughter, Wanu Hafidh Ameir, is a politician and serves in Zanzibar’s House of Representatives.

Former Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma has returned to his country after spending more than two years in Nigeria, following the withdrawal of criminal proceedings against him.

Mr Koroma, who was exiled for two and a half years, departed Nigeria for Freetown on Sunday.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan announced his departure in a post shared on X.

Mr Jonathan said, “This morning, I had the pleasure of seeing off my dear friend and brother, His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma, as he begins his journey home to Sierra Leone.

“Nigeria was his home away from home for over two years, and I am grateful we could offer friendship, support, and solidarity during that period.

Working quietly with others, we encouraged dialogue and engagement with the Sierra Leonean authorities to help create the conditions for his safe and dignified return. As we say farewell today, I am particularly happy that he is returning home to Freetown.”

Mr Koroma fled to Nigeria in January 2024 after a high court in Sierra Leone allowed him to travel on medical grounds despite being charged with treason.

He was indicted for his alleged role in a 2023 failed military attempt to topple the government led by Julius Bio.

The former president, who ruled Sierra Leone from 2007 to 2018, denied involvement in the November 2023 coup attempt, which saw gunmen attack military barracks and a prison, freeing about 2,200 inmates and leaving more than 20 people dead.

The decision came amid fears that his indictment could worsen tensions over the disputed 2023 election, in which President Julius Maada Bio won a second term.

Mr Koroma arrived in a presidential plane and was welcomed by several Nigerian officials.

However, Mr Koroma’s lawyers have called the charges “trumped up” and part of a political vendetta.

Sierra Leone discontinued the criminal proceedings against Mr Koroma in July. The decision ended a high-profile treason case that placed the former leader at the centre of a national security investigation.

In a public notice, the country’s Attorney-General, Alpha Sasay, stated that the criminal proceedings against Koroma had been discontinued and that the matter had been removed from the court’s docket.

The notice also confirmed that Koroma’s bail conditions had ended with immediate effect.

Mr Sasay, however, did not explain why the case was discontinued.

If you watched TLC's Doubling Down with the Derricos, you probably remember Karen and Deon Derrico as the couple raising an extraordinary family of 14 children—including twins, triplets and quintuplets. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

For five seasons, viewers were invited into their world.

The laughter.
The arguments.
The parenting struggles.
The search for a bigger home.
The celebrations.
The heartbreak.

But the family's story took a dramatic turn in 2024—and in 2026, things became even more serious.

So what really happened to the Derricos? 👀

Let's break it down.

👶 1. YES… THE DERRICOS HAVE 14 CHILDREN

One of the biggest things people get wrong online is the number of children.

Karen and Deon have 14 children together, not 18.

Karen and Deon had been married since 2005.

On June 4, 2024, they filed for divorce.

Just two days later—June 6—the divorce was finalized.

Yes… TWO DAYS. 😳

They agreed to share legal and physical custody of their 13 minor children.

Deon was ordered to pay $1,166 per month in child support, while Karen would handle the children's medical insurance.

And despite the divorce, Karen chose to keep the Derrico surname.

According to TMZ's reporting, Karen and Deon reportedly continued living together for a period after the divorce, partly for financial reasons and to keep the huge family together.

But as it became clearer that reconciliation wasn't happening, Karen reportedly moved out with four of the children.

Some of the allegations are extremely serious.

Prosecutors claim threatening communications were sent to Deon and that Karen allegedly threatened him and children who sided with him.

Deon also reportedly told authorities that the situation had become frightening enough that some of the children were afraid.

🚨 BUT HERE'S SOMETHING IMPORTANT:

These are allegations—not proven facts.

Karen has denied the accusations and pleaded not guilty.

🛑 6. KAREN'S LAWYER SAYS THE ACCUSATIONS ARE "FABRICATED"

Karen's defense has presented a completely different version of events.

Her attorney has described the accusations as false and malicious, arguing that Deon himself fabricated or manipulated the alleged threatening communications.

Her defense has sought to investigate the digital evidence, including the source/IP information connected to the emails.

So right now, the public is hearing two very different versions of what happened.

And ultimately, the court—not social media—will have to determine what the evidence proves.

The original show has already completed its fifth season, ending in July 2024.
