Travel / Re: Want To Migrate From Nigeria To Barbados by Profwriter(m): 8:20am On Apr 03
staga:
I live in Barbados. Went there with the Welcome Stamp last year. That visa is for remote workers. You can't work on the island with it.

Apart from the place being quite expensive (I pay $1000 a month as rent), I can tell you that Barbados is an example of a country that works. Not the shithole we call home. There are Nigerians here, but mostly those who are either married to locals, or students of the various universities here.

Virgin and British Airways operate flights from Lagos to Bridgetown, via London Heathrow Airport. You need a UK transit visa. I processed the whole stuff myself with no single agent involved. I got approved, paid the $3000 for the family version of the visa (issued electronically) and got the UK transit visa with not a single stress. Here, there are no illegals. The transit via London checks that so Nigerians are loved here just as if you are Bajan. Do not forget, most of them are descendants of African slaves who were freed and resettled. Many have Igbo ancestry, including Rihanna who is revered and treated like a goddess here.

Estonia, Croatia, Malta, Seychelles, Dubai and Cape Verde all have versions of this visa and they are cheaper. But for me, the choice was an English speaking country with a large black population so we would not have racism issues. I have not experienced any racism or xenophobia here.

Be careful of all these "i sabi" folks making all kinds of comments here. I did not come here on holiday. I live here now and very much integrated so I can tell you what is on ground.

Please what is the name for this visa you got for yourself and family, Is it renewable? Whats the possibility for citizenship?

I really need a job, anyone with good job opportunities should help out. I have sent my resume to various platforms but no calls or messages yet. I went for an interview today and the pay is nothing to write home about. How can a reputable company be paying a graduate 50k in this current economy, even if I am desperately willing to get a job, I won't stoop so low to that extent. We know sey country hard but male una sef dey pity job seekers because e nor easy to trek from cms to lekki phase 1.

I understand your situation but you don't have to portray the company in that manner, I am glad you didn't mention the company's name.

Words like "stoop so low" is unnecessary.

This is a public space and it tells allot about your personality.

I'm looking for job too, and I have gotten offers in lagos which I turned down politely.

I would have accepted it, but the responsibilities on my shoulders are too weighty -this is not about being proud.

I would have accepted if my responsibilities were lesser.

Hi, is this thread still active? I want to travel to CIV for the Afcon group stages. I plan to travel by road on the 12th from Lagos. I will like to go with a group of like minded people and not alone. Has any plan been made here? Can we create one within the next few days? How can we contact each other and move this forward?

I like to attend but I need sponsorship

Nice trend, I am going to Gambia next week.

What are the documents needed and why the settlement of immigration or you don't have complete documents ?

If you are going by road, those guys will want you to tip them before they allow you to pass.

Did you get any further interest? Interested.

I'm interested but I need a sponsor. I have been to 🇧🇯 Benin, Togo 🇹🇬 and Ghana 🇬🇭. Ivory Coast is just 6hours away from Ghana.

A road trip is possible as it allows alot of sightseeing.

For a road trip, we just need a good vehicle, a Nigerian numbered vehicle can serve, then we do the necessary paper work that will allow us to move.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Rejected Again, Hope Lost by Profwriter(m): 10:18pm On Sep 20, 2023
9jagovernor:
I read a post mad by a lady this week on this forum about how she lost a job because she failed their medical but she later got a better job.
I received a rejection mail today with a job I thought I have already secured having passed the first and the second stage of the interview and even did medical in their premises and all hopes were high for me, I was already seeing myself as a staff of the company with lots of preparation from my own end.
Having waited for over 3 weeks without response, I mailed them last week with them telling me they'll respond soon. I received the shocker this afternoon with a rejection mail stating at me in my inbox.... Hot tears rolled down my eyes followed by depression.
I had to reply the HR why I was not selected cos we were 2 jostling for the position and the other person didn't scale through the second interview and subsequently didn't do the medicals which means I was the sole candidate. She just said it was the Management's decision. I guess I failed the medical.
My Single mom was the only person I could text, shared the news with and she was just encouraging me cos it's just the of us...I'm her only child.
Truth be told, I'm tired. I'll be 30 next week, no better job in the table, no investment, no wife, no children, no savings.... I'm just hanging in there.
I shared my previous rejection experience in Lagos not quite long

https://www.nairaland.com/7695372/bitter-job-hunting-experience-yesterday

And facing this one again is heartbreaking. I currently work for a firm where I am paid 50k out of which I'm returning 25k to mum to pay off the loan she took from teaching job as she took the loan to pay my school fee while in school together with some expenses, transport chunk off larger Percentage of the remaining salary and at the end of the day, I'm left with little or nothing with debts hanging around me. I am even owing someone 30k right now with the promise to pay the person at the end of this month from my salary (I believe in miracles).

I need help, I need a better job. The only thing carrying me is my baby face as people hardly believe I'm old.

I am a computer science graduate 2.1, I am proficient in Microsoft office suites, hardware and software maintenance, office administration as I am currently a secretary where I work, I have experience as a Logistic officer too. I currently reside in Ogun but don't mind relocating.

I'm glad you are a male and not a female, you still have age on your side.

The first thing is this, as regarding marriage, you need to get a partner not girlfriend but a real partner that will marry you.

Marriage can even open doors
Two heads are better than one
Find a lady that believes in her self and believes in you and both of you can plan the future together.
