It can and i suggest you should. My is running on Android 7.0.

After thr upgrade, factory reset your phone and if the issue persists then take it to carlcare.

I'm using 2GB of RAM on Android 7.0 nougat and it still lags occasionally now I'm seeing 1GB of RAM running the same Android 7.0 nougat 'smoothly'.

I actually like the idea behind android Go and i think it is nice and will run flawlessly on a 1GB RAM device.

However, how will chrome function on it ? That is if we can't even run it. Or will they realeased Chrome Go ? What UC browser ? Instagram ? What about gaming ?

Well, lets see how it goes.

Cons

- Old/Outdated Snapdragon Chipset.
- Quad-core 1.4GHz on Hot 4, 5 and now 6 ?
- Probably no fast Charge

Xioami Redmi 5 is way better and even costs less.

See guy, itel and all other phone companies have a target market. itel has focused their Business strategy on producing phones for the mass market (80% of the population). The people in the mass market do not have lot of money and are extremely price conscious.

Now, itel has never for once claimed to be competing with iPhone or Samsung of this world. They have their people and if you follow the news well, you would see itel is the top selling phone brand in Africa as at last year.

So baba, allow them be. If you have enough money, go and buy a Samsung or iPhone but do not shame those that can barely eat 3 square meals but still want an Android Phone to connect with friends and family, something itel mobile is helping them to do.

Something is messing with the sensor at the top of the device.

Same thing with the redmi note 5(5 Plus) except for the battery and camera.

Use money and do better affordable phone they won't, na to sign davido dey hungry them.

Like i said earlier, it's a great choice.

"Personal" preference would always be personal, has little to do with specs or even price.

I don't think anyone needs so much convincing to buy Xiaomi phones giving that they always deliver in producing some of the best prices for the specs, relatively speaking.

When i said MIUI RAM management, i wasn't talking about smoothness. It's very smooth. I meant closing running apps and even browser tabs too quickly on my 3GB ram variant. Just not used to all that coming from other 3GB ram phone like say the iPhone X or Infinix Note 4 Pro which i used before it. Their Ram management wasn't all that but it wasn't that bad.

Lastly, about battery life/usage, if you go out of your way to ship any phone into naija, you're most likely not a light user. Moreso, i find that low end to mid-range users care more about battery life/size more than most of the other features. I don't fall under this group but i'm judging based on the comments i get on my YouTube channel.

Like you said, personal preference is key. When i made my choice to go for the Infinix hot 4 2 years ago, i Choose battery capacity over performance. But if i were to choose now, I'll go for performance over battery. That doesn't mean I'm regretting buying the Infinix, no. Infinix is a nice brand and i have nothing against them and might even buy the hot 6 when it is out depending on the specs as i don see snapdragon.

Well I did not experience any app closure for the little time i handled the Xioami redmi note 5A so i can't say for sure.

Ship to naija ? I think it was already in naija. Bought today, got it in less than 24 hours. If them ship am, then i go like know the courier service wey jumia use.

The Note 5a prime is even more expensive so it should have better specs all things being equal. However, some users on Xiaomi thread keep saying battery life is wack, camera is wack.....1 user coming from Hot 4. I can only imagine they would appreciate the camera on the Hot 5 even more. Battery life too is too good to be true although take a whole 3 hours+ to charge with the charger they included lol.
At the end of the day, it all depends on what features they use and how long/intensive they want to use the phone without charging.
Some people won't trade wack battery life for a small performance bump. MIUI Ram management on my Note 4X is as bad as they come so i won't even list MIUI as a pro of Xiaomi phones.

By more expensive you mean the 3k difference ? If you want we can compare the Xiaomi Redmi 5A which has almost the same thing with the hot 5 and costs 30k while Infinix hot 5 costs 37k.

The 16MP front facing camera on the Xioami redmi note 5A Prime was Great to me. You can check the pictures in the Unboxing and judge yourself.

I do not know about the RN4X but MiUi RAM management on the RN5A Prime is smooth and fluent and battery lasts great. It lasts a full day on light usage and got from 50 to 100 in an hour. Is that fast charge or not ?

I've used the Infinix hot 5 and was opportuned to be at the Redmi Note 5a Prime Unboxing and i can say that it beats the hot 5 hands down.

Amazing MIUI ?

Not to talk of the 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage compared to the 2GB/16GB on the Infinix Hot 5.

And before you say i hate infinix, I'm currently using the Infinix Hot 4 myself.

The only downside is the battery and which you won't feel thanks to the power efficient snapdragon on board.

The Extra bucks is so worth it, trust me.
