oyaskii: Yup. I like what they are doing with his story and I would like it to come a good full circle. He's the only member of the 7 currently that deserves any kind of sane ending. Bastard Kripke will probably kill him off and I won't even be surprised. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by pu7pl3(m): 9:33pm On Jul 05, 2024 |
oyaskii: lmaoo...The scene totally took me out. By the way, This season is totally looking like a filler season, with little plot progression, i mean the plot that matters. It is suffering from a classic 3rd season syndrome some shows go through, where a show has a good first 2 seasons, then they try to experiment with the third, instead of just getting out while the ovation is loudest with a banger final season, oddly enough it is happening at S4 with this, clearly meaning this show has sadly over stayed it's welcome and it's basically one season too many already.
I mean the writers room for this season must be so jolly, it's like the show runners told dem writers to hit them with their most perverted ideas, and the best ones stuck. I know the show thrives on this oddity and shock value, but it has worn off since, for me at least, predictably, outside these weird and perverted high moments, it starts to look like a very ordinary show, like you could actually skip all the scenes in this episode and just see the last 5 minutes or so and you'd be alright.
Only Butcher's arc seems to be getting any meaningful progression, he is the only person actually serious with the ultimate business of the show, which is to dead Homelander, at this point. The other goons are just going on meaningless side gigs that basically adds nothing. Butcher's 5 minutes screen time this week, it's like the most important since this S4 even began. I'm just seeing out the rest of the season now, because i am too vested to drop it, but i ain't really expecting much. Apart from Butcher I'm also just seeing it cos I like A-train's redemption arc |

CoolUsername: Memes aside, I think he's done a great job getting himself over with his promo work and presentation. However, he's really nothing special in the ring and is already 36 years old.
He kinda reminds me of Zack Ryder (Matt Cardona) from back in the day. So, while I'm rooting for him to succeed, realistically, I don't think his ceiling would be very high in a place like WWE. Exactly I look at him and I don't see the Aura or what the hype is all about. |

TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by pu7pl3(m): 8:27pm On Jun 26, 2024 |
abduleez1: Yep. HBO don't care about animation but the streaming service Max do. That's why it's somewhat weird. Wasn't too surprised anymore they aren't serious about animation after they cancelled Scavengers Reign after one season a MAX Original and streaming rights sold to Netflix. If it's big on Netflix, they might renew it. That show based on what I've heard online of it, was very top tier storytelling and animation.
So far it wasn't cancelled, fine by me. Or you wan hear the one of Batgirl movie, shot and edited, only to be locked up for tax benefits. 😭😭
I'm surprised how they picked up My Adventures With Superman and dropped this one. Any idea how good the TV show is? Bruh I'm not watching that show. I don't think it's for me from the little snippets I saw.
Batgirl still dey muzz me sha but I rather not even try to make sense of it. |

abduleez1: Man, Gotham would slap. You know Matt Reeves Arkham Asylum is already incorporated into the DCU. And that project already had writers working on the script. Most likely our first look into Gotham. It'd probably release first before TBAB. If they go with Reeves design I'm okay with it. He also nailed it. Omo I'm excited sha. But all these projects still seem so far away. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by pu7pl3(m): 6:03pm On Jun 26, 2024 |
abduleez1: Just watched it. Was just about posting it in the series section.
On that Prime Video move. It's a goof from the David Zaslav cancellations and selling off content not on their priority list. It was a part of projects in development sold to the competition to earn some money and a plan to make the streaming business profitable. Prime offered good money and it was sold. Same with how Netflix got The Sandman and Dead Boy Detectives.
I'm also guessing WB trying to limit the amount of elseworlds stories hanging around. With the success of X-Men 97 I'm envious of Max letting this slip out.
Matt Reeves is also an Exec Producer. This would have been a solid animation show to garner younger demography subscribers. It looks good. A miss and prime video is gonna mine it. HBOMax is seriously lagging in the animation game compared to other streamers.
Netflix and Prime got it on solid lock down. Max has never been big or dedicated to their animation division. Warner Bros Animation group also having a new studio head also meant some project would be cancelled just like "COYOTE vs ACME". They most likely let The Caped Crusader get people interested in it to buy it cos they got good relationships with the producers. Oh wow is that what happened? I can't believe they pitched this idea and agreed to it. Well HBO's loss is Prime's gain. HBO is more interested in live action sha |

abduleez1: Pu7pl3 you dey see this superb world building and connectivity between movies and TV shows??
All these sets photos just dey give me joy walahi. See numerous key characters introduction all at once and written into the storyline. Not the cameos intro we're used to.
The supe arresting Superman, I don't if he's Ultraman or actually Ulysses. Bro I'm digging the aesthetics tbh, it really is looking authentic. Metropolis looks exactly how I imagine it would, I don't even need the signboards to tell me, I can't wait to see how his Gotham would look like too and Central city.
And yes you're right that's Ulysses, that's his costume design from what I can remember. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by pu7pl3(m): 5:09pm On Jun 26, 2024 |
abduleez1: December? Lol, you don check the movies releasing that month. This movie would literally get swallowed with the titles placed for that month.
I haven't even watched the trailer yet when you made this comment. Later watched it in the midnight after your comment and in my mind the best month would be in November. And as I got to the end of the trailer they showed the release date and I said to my self, "looks sensible".
Nov 15 is the best spot to be...out of the way of possible juggernauts in Wicked & Moana 2 which releases Nov 27. Their spillovers into early December isn't encouraging for Red One. Then after that first week of December of no major film release, there's at least one major title every other week. And bruv, they're all franchise films.
What's also funny is the novelty of every major studio releasing movies that same month. Sony, Disney, Paramount, WB and Universal all drops pics that month. The whole bunch!!
Red One stands no chance with that lineup of family programming. It can't compete with that potential bloodbath schedule for that month.
Cc joseph1832 It's good sha and people can still stream it during the holidays cos it must have left the theatres by then.
Did you see that new Batman the caped crusader first trailer? It looks really dope but I'm confused as to why it's on Prime and not HBOMAX |

Illusioneffect: Succession S1-4 The best series I've ever binged
I've had this series for a long while but I'vent even opened it too even see what It's because the premise didnt really entice me- a series about a rich dysfunctional family 🤷🏽♂️ I prefer dragons, death and blood. But right from the first episode of this series- you can never understand the direction of this show! The best directed series I've ever watched for a number of reasons
1. succession’s outrageous ambition
It seamlessly blends explosive comedy with dismal tragedy, often in the same scene, and delivers sharp observations, wit, irreverence and awe, in equal measure. And then there’s formal daring – for example, Season Four’s timeline is just ten days, that is, a day(ish) per episode!
At the heart of the work is the study of ambition itself: At a systemic level it continues to prosecute capitalism’s deep contradictions; at the personal level it vivisects the narcissistic, avaricious, self-actualising destructive, bitter, deluded, driven and wicked selves breathing such fetid air; and at the centre is the death-like grasp of the rugged individualist patriarch’s vaulting ambition, o’erleaping itself, and all who stand before it.
2. succession is like nothing else
Part satire, part pastoral, part comical-historical-tragical, it is akin to Dallas or Dynasty (less the big hair and bigger shoulder pads – indeed here the comedy masquerades as tragedy) but Succession zeroes in on not only wealth and excess but trauma, sorrow and media-business via grotesquerie and fine naturalism.
It looks like a fly-on-the-wall doco – with its use of hand-held cameras and whip zoom – yet is stunningly curated and designed. It is a lux travelogue to estates, extravagant yachts and mountain retreats, but is often claustrophobically domestic.
It’s also a business primer, reckless, roiling therapy, living thought experiment and morality play. Mash-ups can sometimes just be mash, yet here the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
3. the affect
How often do you shout at the TV? Watching this show it becomes inevitable, except when it also freezes your hands in dread halfway between shielding your eyes, blocking your ears or clutching at your stomach.
You’ll also cry, cry with laughter, in misery, in fear. It’s a car crash – in one instance, literally. You shouldn’t look, but you do – and you will feel something.
4. a moral compendium
Evagrius Ponitcus, a 4th-century monk, compiled what Pope Gregory later described as the Seven Deadly Sins. Evagrius was worried that just listing temptation and sin might harm his readers. He knew though that it was crucial work, with each of us needing to know our strengths and weaknesses.
Watching the wilful concatenation of vainglory, greed and lust, acedia (despondency) and tristitia(sorrow), that is Succession, it really does pack an ethical punch.
5. succession is its own thesaurus
It is tempting just to assemble quotation after quotation of rebarbative, wounding, up-to-the-minute and hilarious lines and neologisms from the show. And bilious, ingenious, dyspeptic many of them are.
People even pay just to have Brian Cox – who played Logan Roy, the patriarch – swear at them.
There is so much more to the show however than one-liners.
6. characters, actors, performances
Merely just listing the character names is enough to elicit a shake of the head, knowing that they are so appalling generous, and evil. Trapped in their wicked closed loops, it’s head-spinning cognitive dissonance.
What is not in dispute is how strong each actor is, especially so in this final season where even the smaller parts are stepping up and hitting it out of the park.
7. how the 0.1% live
Rich people, literally Les Rois, the Kings. Is it a celebration or a repudiation? Either way, they live in our world, but most are not of (or care for) this world.
NB: it's also one of the funniest shows I've ever watched which is strange An A+++++ show You forgot the badass intro song. Was so Badass Pusha T hopped on it and dropped another banger that year. |
