One of the reasons folks aren't happy at Cody-Randy for Mania is because Randy has been losing too much. All of a sudden you want us to take him that seriously for Mania? Wins and losses matter. It's same thing that has affected The Miz all these years. This myth of putting people over when they don't deserve it has to stop.

"main eventer" in this context is not in rankings but in talent. You have to be a main event talent to beat a main event talent.

I'll break it down. A midcard talent is in other words an average talent. A main event taker is in other words an elite talent. An elite wrestler should never lose to an average wrestler. It's either the average wrestler gets to the level of the elite wrestler and probably beat them or they remain where they are. Full stop.
