wow they mean business no joke cindermum: My husband and I submitted our passports for IW and his visa was issued and I was asked to schedule an appointment for a follow up interview
Me: Good morning ma'am
VO: Good morning
VO: Why are you travelling ?
Me: My family and I are going to Chicago for a 3 weeks vacation in July.
VO: you had your kids in the USA
ME: Yes ma'am in 201.. and 201..
VO: How much did you pay?
ME: I paid $7,000 and $10,000 respectively (I was trying to bring out my receipts and letter of none indebtedness) and she told me to keep the docs away.
VO: That was very low for Childbirth, you got some discounts.
ME: No ma'am, i didnt( I was actually confused when I said no because I thought she meant government aid, which is prohibited for someone on a B1/B2 visa) then I proceeded to say my contract with the hospital was from the 35th week of pregnancy till birth. It would have been higher if I was taken care of from the first month of pregnancy.
V.O: so you got some discounts because you paid cash.
ME: yes ma'am. . VO : When you applied in 201.., you mentioned that it would cost $14,000 . ME: No ma'am, I told him that my budget was $14,000 which was inclusive of flight ticket, accomodation, transportation and feeding . Then I proceeded to tell her that I gave him my budget sheet to that effect ma'am. . VO : How did you pay?
ME: With our bank cards.
VO : Did you access any govt aid?
ME : No ma'am, I didn't.
VO: your husband has a visa too
ME: yes ma'am, we both applied via IW and his visa was issued while I was called in for an interview.
VO: are you pregnant?
ME: No ma'am, I'm not pregnant and I'm done with childbirth.
VO: That's what you all say, note that childbirth with B1/B2 visa stopped since 2020. I am going to put this down now that if you birth in the United States in the next 5yrs, your visa and your husband's visa will be revoked. Tell your husband too, that his visa will be revoked if you give birth in the United States in the next 5yrs.
ME: Yes ma'am, okay ma'am.
VO: continued typing for some seconds and said alright, you may pick up your visa in 1 week and handed the white paper to me.
Me: Thank you very much ma'am with a big smile of relief.
P.s
After my first issuance, I had applied 2ce via IW and I wasn't called in for interview. Birthing with a B1/B2 visa is no longer permissible and it is on their website for further proof. |

congratulations Milito: It was a successful outcome guys. Thanks so much for your support
And also a big thank you to all the people dropping travel tips on Nairaland on a daily basis without expecting anything in return; without even expecting thank you. You guys are MVPs.
I started getting visas after taking my time to go through other people's experiences through Nairaland posts. And utilising tips dropped by different people.
The questions centred on the event I registered and going for in the US.
VO: Passport pls
Self: Good morning! (With a high pitch and smile)
VO: Purpose of intended travel to the US
Self: To participate at **** event.
VO: Have you participated at a similar event in other countries before?
Self: yes, in 2024 in Europe, 2023 in Europe and 2022 in South Africa.
VO: is that the only thing you'll be doing?
Self: No, after my event, I'll do some sightseeing and will visit my Sister for few days in another state.
VO: What do you do for a living?
Self: I work at so and so.
VO: Continues long typing and looking at PC
VO: Are you married and do you have children?
Self: Yes, married with 3 kids. I gave the VO their ages, and told her I'm traveling alone for now.
VO: I'll be issuing your visa.
Self: Thank you very much 😊 I quickly carried my load and ran off before they change their mind.
NB First time applicant to the US. Though I've been to Europe a couple of times.
Paid in Sept 24, initially got June date, but kept searching till I got March 2025.
Observations: A couple of Babcock students were there on a study/work exchange, they were all given except 1 guy. Felt so sad for him. If one has the means, expose your children to International trips early enough. A number of the successful ones had travel history.
I studied the VOs and quickly queued behind the one with a smile and that I noticed approved Visas for 3 of those Babcock students.
I noticed some peoples answers were too short and they were too rigid. In my own case, I added some humor about my event and made the VO laugh. |

congratulation it end with JOY Nysckits: VISIT VISA ALERT!!!
Thank God, we did it in the end! I truly appreciate Providus Bank for standing by me during this challenging time and thanks to you all.
Yes, I initially received a 10-year ban due to a mistake by the embassy, where they wrongly flagged my document as false. However, Providus Bank stepped in, verified my details, and confirmed that I am their customer with a legitimate bank statement. Their intervention helped set things right.
My Visa Journey: • Biometric Submission: 10th December 2024 • Further Document Verification Request: 10th January 2025 • Rejection & 10-Year Ban Notification: 29th January 2025 • Passport Collection Notification: 5th February 2025
Upon receiving my passport, I noticed two visas one was canceled with a red pen (likely when the ban was issued), and after my bank intervened, a new visa was granted.
All thanks to God and a big thank you to Providus Bank for their support! |

since it a direct email from the embassy as seen from your screenshot kindly follow the process, I don't think it a scam racerve: Gurus in the house, I’m hoping someone can help me clarify an odd situation with my wife’s visa application.
I'm an EU citizen currently based in Nigeria, and we're applying for a short-stay visa for my wife.
She submitted the application a couple days ago, and we just received an email from the french consulate asking her to contact the "embassy lawyer" to authenticate our Nigerian marriage certificate (see the attached pics below).
After reaching out to the provided contact, the supposed lawyer has sent an invoice of 350k for authentication.
I'm pretty sure this is a scam, but the original email came from a legit address. Her application status on the TLS website still shows In Progress.
Has anyone received a similar request before? |

first time seeing someone with USA and canaada visa been denied TopZionQueen: Hello house, I received my Schenghen business visa from the French embassy today (one month visa)
Submitted application on Jan 6th, received collection sms/email today, Jan 14th.
My case is quite peculiar.
Early last year, I won an award with my organization and they decided to sponsor myself and a guest (I picked my mum) to Paris where I would participate as an Olympic torchbearer. I received all relevant info from my company who was a sponsor for Paris 2024 and my mum and I were both denied. I had an active 5-year U.S. visa, which I had used the year before. I also had a previously used Canadian visa and had stamps to Senegal and Gambia. My mum was also actively traveling to Dubai and China for her business, so we were confused.
My organization decided to give me another opportunity as a Paralympics torchbearer and we got letters from the Paris 2024 team, and my organisation's director in Paris and still yet, we were denied again. Emails were also sent to the French embassy from my organisation in Paris but we received no response.
That's how I missed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Fast forward to October last year, my company decided to send me to Amsterdam for a training and because I was rejected twice previously, I was scared, but I still applied. Picked up the passport after 2 weeks and discovered they gave me 1 month visa.
Unfortunately, the training was canceled and I couldn't travel and I honestly did not feel like traveling at that time so the visa expired and I didn't use it.
This year, my company decided to send me to Amsterdam to attend a conference in February and because of my terrible history, I was a bit reluctant. However, in my cover letter, I included the reason I couldn't travel (being that the physical training was canceled due to budgetary concerns). I also added a letter from my manager confirming that the training was canceled and including that they were sending me to Amsterdam on the provided dates.
Because I have another trip for Ghana on Jan. 16th, I had asked them to expedite the process in my cover letter, providing the booked flight tickets to and fro Ghana.
I'm just glad that everything worked out and wanted to share here, because I have really benefited by being a silent observer.
To everyone looking to get a visa, I wish you the best of luck. |

CONGRATULATION SIR I Love the way you keep building the travel history weldone for the details davodyguy: VISA ALERT FAMILY OF 3 STANDARD VISIT VISA
Firstly, the people that set up this thread, God bless and especially those who contribute regular, I dont want to be partial by calling names and leaving others out. But those that are of help, well done and God bless
When you're refused Visa and you post the refusal letter, people contribute to help you on the mistakes, and others that are yet to apply gets opportunity to read from previous errors and correct them, accordingly.
Note, no two cases are same, but there are similarities.
Here's my story.
As a family, we always travelled together and our travel period has always been consistent in December, cos of my wife's birthday.
From 2015 to 2022, I've done 9 countries Japan, South Africa, Australia, UAE, New Zealand, UAE again, Turkey, France, Saudi Arabia and Italy. My family did half of these trips with me, while I did solo on the others. 2024, we opt for UK.
TIME LINE Submitted application to UKVI online around 31st October Biometrics done 8th November, 2024 SENT to UKVI same 8th November, 2024 UKVI sent receipt mail on 12th November, 2024 TLS sent collection mail on 27th November, 2024
Documents Myself, 1. 3 years tax clearance 2. VAT Registration of my company 3. List of Clients my company works for as consultant, that include one very popular and rich Oil and Gas company headquartered in London. 4. Company registration details with active Status on CAC, along with my professional qualifications 5. Self introduction letter 6. Letter of sponsorship by my company. Yes, it's a leisure travel, but my Manager wrote a letter that my own company is sponsoring the trip 7. Submitted 3 company bank statements, one of which is a Dollar account. 8. Company fixed deposit of the total travel fund. In July, we deposited the total travel cost in a fixed deposit account designated travel funds. 9. Personal bank statement for only 3 months, but I carefully pay myself salaries, spending only half of the salary monthly. 10. Letter of invitation from my elder brother, British Citizen. 11. Letter from Uncle (mums younger brother) British Citizen 12. Letters from mum to state my uncle is her younger brother, and that she's the mother of myself and brother, she was in UK in March and attached her entry stamp to UK and exists stamp. 13. Properties title document and a valuation report showing the values of the properties 14. Marriage certificate, all previous visas and all images taken in the 11 countries I've visited, birth certificate
Spouse 1. Letter of employment, promotion letter etc 2. Letter from employer confirming approval to travel 3. Her bank statement was not attached cos the account is not tidy at all, but we submitted statements of savings account from a cooperative society, that shows she saves a certain amount from her salary every month. 4. 6 months payslip, showing tax and other deductions 5. Statement from her PFA, Stanbic 6. Marriage certificate, all previous visas and all images taken in the countries visited, birth certificate of son 7. Self introduction letter 8. Letter from UK sponsors, Nigerians sponsor, bank statements etc
My son 1. Letter of Introduction from School 2. Receipts showing School fees payments 3. Birth certificate to confirm parents details 4. all previous visas and all images taken in the countries visited. 5. Letter from UK sponsors, Nigerians sponsor, bank statements etc
All the documents I submitted in my own application, I uploaded for my spouse and son as well. Reason is that, they sometimes may not give family application to same case officer. They may spread, hence I linked all three together and uploaded the same documents for all applicants. But fortunately for us, I presume it was handled by same case officer as email came in together, same time and hour
As regards how much you're willing to spend personally
Myself, I put ₦300k (saying company will sponsor all other cost)
Spouse, I put £5, saying husband's company will sponsor other cost
Son, I put ₦1 saying father will sponsor other cost
How much is your sponsor paying
Myself, I put the amount My spouse, I put the same amount Son, I put the same amount
Then added an addendum that the above sum provided by the sponsor is to be jointly spent by all applicants.
Our travel is for leisure, but I still used Company as sponsor, because we have a policy that allows founder to enjoy vacation. If Donald Trump is going on holiday as President of USA, it is state funds that would be used. As Tinubu is buying jet and travelling everywhere, it's on account of Nigeria. So a founder of a company can choose to use company funds for leisure
As regards employment, I chose self employed as the founder of a company, then showed tax clearance etc
I wish everyone looking forward to this kind of good news well in Jesus name (insha'Allah) |

Documents Submitted: Introduction letter from my employer Leave approval letter from my employer Pay slips (provided by my employer) Bank reference letter-stamped and signed with date physically Bank statements (6 months, e-signed and stamped)-there was no physical stamp and signatory on my bank statement Personal introduction letter Yellow fever card (obtained from Port Health Lagos) Flight itinerary and direct hotel reservation Consent letter for my daughter (minor) Immunization card....etc I provided all the requirements listed on their official website to ensure a complete application.
Note: Both my passport and my daughter’s were virgin passports, but the visa was approved within a month of submission. Interestingly, the tracking page on their website does not seem to work. Even after receiving my passport, it still shows “no record found” when I enter my details.

VO: Why did you Choose Lamar?
ME: I met a lady when I went to Cancun for holiday, and we spoke about our career and education. She had so many good reviews about Lamar Uni. VO: Can I see your receipts and statements from the hospital? Me: I do not have them here, I did not know I had to bring them with me here
To be honest, I never thought they will ask for it again, since I had renewed my visa twice and also travelled three times after then and no one asked for them.

nice one GreatnessT: Like I said, I submitted many document to back up economy and family ties.
General Doc. Six months Bank Statement
Other investment certificates
Last Promotion Letter. (Note, I was to submit first appointment letter)
Letter from employer stating my income, support for my travelling and leave days
Children Birth certificates
Note: I was to submit Tax Clearance Certificate. I did not submit this. But I submitted my payslip showing tax deduction. I was worried about this. Thank God it came out well.
Also, I did not take my first appointment letter along. Thinking it was told bulky. I was told by the officer that attended to me that it is part of requirements. He used my last Promotion Letter in lieu of that.
I did not keep up to 120k in my account as at the time I printed the statemnt. Yes, you read that well. However, I have fixed deposit of more than 10m (me &wiffy). I also have other foreign currencies investments. A lot of inflow and outflow of naira as well. So, for proof of fund, ensure you have investment instead of keeping fund idle in your acc(my opinion).
I was privilege to know that my doc was verified. PLEASE DONT SUBMIT FAKE DOCUMENT.
I have traveled to Milan and back to my work.

cool Bolaji16: It's for a Conference. -Invitation letter from Org. (SA) -Yellow Card (all pages) -letter of introduction from my employer -3 months statement (Stamped) -Letter of Confirmation of balance by the financial institution -Personal letter of introduction (written myself) -Dummy return ticket (Directly booked from Airline) -Dummy hotel reservation (Directly booked from an Hotel 100m away from the venue of the conference) -Nigeria Passport (Coloured 2copies) -Passport photograph (2 copies It's better to take the photograph at vfs office or environs as they are aware of the proper specification. An applicant was delayed and asked to retake his photograph due to wrong specification)
PS: If all your documents are intact, you should not spend up to 1hr there. I hope this helps |
