My experience at BLS today. Appointment was 8:15 to 8:30. All the while I had 8:30 in my head. Got to building security at 8:28 got to the door at around 8:33 if I had cared about the time i would have sped to the place. was just driving slowly. And crawled inside because i assumed it will be like TLs or VFs office with crowd and I even assumed they never even open on getting to the gate.

Na so the security to enter d Bls main door say I was late. that I should go pay for premium.
That the system already considered me late.

Me was like in my head. which system. something that you would still be delayed inside for serveral mins. I be software engineer. which system doesn't allow for 5min or 10min later. even US embassy for UK wasn't this bad.

Na so I start to argue. they said if I had some1 inside I should call. I told them who I sabi.

After much argument I came down to their level because the place was like burial ground no one to support me.

Last last I gave them money.
Na so I enter.

Learn from my mistake and be careful of them. I had heard bad review of BLs I didn't know security will be the one to run me street.

1 month Visa was approved for my mum, submitted on June 28, and I received her passport on July 18—first-time traveler. my question now, pls for those of you who have traveled before to France, which other international airport can she land in France? tickets are super expensive considering that she was given only a month visa. The upcoming Olympics is not helping the price of the tickets.

Nov 16, 2022-Booking of appointment

Aug 16, 2023 - A plea for intervention in getting an appointment

Aug 16, 2023 - Embassy's response:

Dear Applicant.
We are sorry but the waiting time for an appointment in your category is over one and a halve year now. It is not possible at this moment to give a more precise prediction. The reasons are the number of registrations and the shortage of staff. I regret not being able to give you a better answer.

Sept 20, 2023 - Another plea for appointment due to health reasons (with doctor's report submitted).

Sept 21, 2023 - Embassy's response: Appointment still not possible; an approximate time was given, which should be in April 2024!

Oct 2023 -Jan 2024 - Two emails sent requesting for special consideration for an appointment, but these were turned down!

Silence

April 15 - An email sent reminding the embassy about Sept 21 email that we should expect an appointment in April. By this time, the estimated time had passed!

April 16, 2024 - Notification for an appointment

May 13, 2024 - Appointment day. Required documents were submitted. The original marriage certificate was however not taken along! This was later couriered to the embassy the next day.

May 17, 2024 - An email sent to the embassy explaining (with evidence) that my wife was not supposed to be charged visa fees.

June 7, 2024 - Request for special consideration on issuance of visa. This was necessary because there was an event I needed to attend with my wife by the end of June. Details of the event were sent.

June 7, 2024 - Embassy's response saying it was not possible to get the visa on time due to backlog of applications!

June 14, 2024 - A follow-up email to the one sent on June 7.

June 18, 2024 - Request from the embassy for the submission of passport and proof of health insurance, although proof of health insurance was already submitted on the appointment day.

June 19, 2024 - Requested documents couriered

June 25, 2024 - Notification of visa issuance and request to come over for refund of visa charges.

June 28, 2024 - Passport delivered by the courier man. Unortunately, she couldn't attend the event as the event ended this day

July 5, 2024 - Wife arrived in Germany.

Grace and favor (and possibly, the gift of perseverance) to all still on the waiting list.

At the time of passport receipt, travel date was already in the past. Nonetheless, the visa was granted.

Although, when I submitted it was supposed to take 10 days but it's now it takes 30 days (may be due to Olympics)

- Booked itinerary paid (Lagos - Paris, then Paris - London, then London - Lagos) : copies of paid flight tickets included
- 1 year insurance cover
- Letter of explanation for visa demand
- French passport copy of inviting family member
- Valid UK residence permit for family member in UK (i didnt need to include invitation letter from her because i already have valid 10yr UK visa)
- Proof of relationship between us
- contract of employment
- 1 passport photograph
- Ofcourse valid passport (10 yrs)

I applied for 1 month visa as i stated I wanted to visit my family member in France before proceeding to spend some holiday with another family member in the UK and that from Uk i will be returninig back to Nigeria.

Has anyone recently applied for Business visa (short stay) here?

I have applied twice this past month and was denied. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I submitted every necessary documents from CAC, payslip, statement of account, invitation letter, introduction letter, my CV and portfolio being a visual artist, and many online publications of my works, but still refused.

I am wondering what could be wrong. I have a travel history to Cote d'ivoire, Cayman Islands, Lebanon, UK transit visa.

I am confused why I'm being denied, even after providing sufficient informations and documents about the program I'm going to attend.

I just want to say thank you for your support on this group and all other monikers who encouraged me to take this step.
Honorable mention - Pansophist who created the awareness that i cab apply for any visa and do it myself without using any agent.
I was of the opinion that someone can't get a visa especially US or canada without using agents but this thread with the help of other comments gave me the courage to push ahead and i got the visa last friday.
I wanted to test the water and weigh my own value so i took the step and test and Glory be to God, i have been give 5 years visitor's visa.

From my observation, they want to be sure you have good travel history, have a good job and income and be sure you will come back and not disappear.
Close to 100 people ahead of me, only 3 of us where given visa.
At a point i was scared when i saw the denying rate but thank God for everything.

you were issued that 5 years based on your travel history, and I think u said u have a USA VISA or CANADA

I really don’t know how they make these decisions. I fit faint if I see 2 weeks 😂

But there’s variation on expiry dates.
I, the mum was issued 5yrs visa while 2 of my kids were issued 3yrs visa each. But my last child who is 3yrs old was issued only 2yrs visa.
Is this normal?
I intend to write to the embassy incase it was an error.
Any input?
Meanwhile this is our second Schengen visa.
First time was 1yrs for all of us.
