The consumer looks at the 50 naira difference and says "It's just 50 naira. I'd rather not buy a Chinese product because of 50 naira".
Chinese manufacturer set lowe prices to gain advantage over their competitors form other countries, but the greed of the traders wipes out that advantage.
If you were the Chinese, would you fold your hands and continue to endure low volume of goods leaving your factory warehouse or go straight to the consumer and sell at the RRP?

I wish the Chinese can take a bold step and establish their automobile assembly plants in Nigeria.
We need to buy Chinese cars at a reasonable mark up price not the rip-off we are currently experiencing from the car vendors.

Even down north, a lot of hausa are into commerce, even competing with the igbo traders, and are traveling out to import their goods. The Chinese can do business in Nigeria, that's not in doubt. But they're aren't allowed to open individual retail shops in our markets. They can set up factories, but not get involved in individual retail outlets.

But if we are to be real and honest to ourselves, citizens of countries that manufacture and produce what another country consumes are not supposed to be allowed to operate retail trading shops in the countries they export their finished products to, it's a simple economics designed to keep national and global economy and trade balanced.



That is why in our secondary school economics, we were taught about supply chain, which flows from the manufacturer to the supplier to the wholesalers to the retailers to the consumers.


You cannot be the manufacturer and still be the retailer, that is a trading policy abuse, it will squeeze out the other vital people on the supply chain and cause a skewed economy that will affect the society by making one person super rich and the rest extremely poor and dependent but our people are seeing this only from the tribal angle without seeing the bigger issue.



This is part of the reason Trump starting imposing heavy tax on Chinese imported products into America.


Chinese government encourages this unhealthy trade competition as a subtle way to take over global trade and economy to cater for their over a billion population as they have set a target to end poverty in China.



Chinese government will send out Chinese to different countries to go bring business ideas and when they return, Chinese government issue them huge loans at discounted interest rate and they use the money to start mass production of the product they have researched and then Chinese government will support them with more cheap loans that sometimes come at zero interest so long as they employ only Chinese and they use these capital to penetrate different countries, especially African countries where they then open massive trading warehouses and sales outlets to sell their cheap manufactured products sponsored by Chinese government that help them to mass produce and export abroad at virtually zero cost which gives them undue advantage and leverage over foreign retailers in their destination countries. If this is allowed it will push so many retail and wholesale traders in African countries to economic abyss and it will affect the countries as their indigenous population that depend on local wholesale and retail trading will be pushed out of business and they end up unemployed and broke. But some Nigerians are only seeing this from the tribal angle that yes let Chinese replace Igbo traders thinking it will affect only Igbos without knowing that even their tribe now have millions of traders too and with time it will destroy the entire Nigerian economy.



Nigerian government really need to checkmate the activities of these Chinese merchants coming into Nigeria to open retail trading shops.


Chinese government are backing most if not all of them with zero interest loans and other trade supports including helping them to export their goods to their destination countries at massively discounted shipping and export duty cost compared to foreigners that go to China to import goods.



America saw this Chinese government wuru wuru and Trump imposed heavy tax on Chinese imported products.



Another way Nigeria can checkmate them is through heavy taxation and ensuring full compliance because most of them don't pay tax, they even force Nigerian buyers to pay them in USD to their Hong Kong domiciled dollar accounts when buying in bulk just to ensure they avoid paying tax to Nigerian government and our people are ignorantly hailing them all because of tribalism, una go later learn sha

We were actively engaged in Agriculture and we were doing fine , and as soon as Oil was discovered , agriculture was put aside which causes over-dependence on Oil fx . Just hear yourself talk, people selling cement close to Dangote cement company are selling in retails e.g one one or two two to ten or there about.
Dangote company can't sell one bag of cement for you or anybody when they know their distributors are beside them.
