I can  very clearly that all anti-Ngige people are just looking for just anything to disparage the man but it is obvious all your mudslinging is not affecting the man at all

Your dirty politicking of using ethnic sentiment and lately tradition to smear a man who hasn't stolen anambra money is just not working. I sense some people are jittery hence are scrubbing everywhere looking for just about the most stoopid,off-the-book excuse to tarnish a man whose only sin is being a bridge-builder with other tribes rather than a bigot,hate-filled and loathsome individual like some of you

If God be God....he will disgrace evri permutation of the wicked against Chris Nwabueze Ngige

Why Jonathan sacked Emordi and Olagunju

by Akan Ido

There are reports that President Goodluck Jonathan sacked his special advisers over his waning influence in both chambers of the National Assembly.

Reports say the president was not amused by the rowdy session at the House of Representatives between supporters of the factional PDP and that led by party chairman, Bamanga Tukur.

There were indications that the face-off escalated due to the shoddy disbursement of a sum of $100,000 meant to be shared among sympathetic lawmakers who ended up receiving $25,000 each.

The wrong application of the money is said to have been partly responsible for the free-for-all on the floor of the House of Representatives during the week.

Read the Vanguard Newspapers report below:
The source said that Jonathan was compelled to fire his Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters, Sen. Joy Emordi, because of her perceived weakness and inability to influence the lawmakers in his favour.

The Presidency is said to have complained that Emordi had not been able to exert her position on the legislature and attract the requisite respect and support from majority of the members for Jonathan since her engagement about two years ago.

Presidential strategists pondered why the ‘opponents’ of the President appeared to be gaining more attention in the NASS in spite of the position of Emordi and hordes of other officials working for the President.

A source said, “It is clear to Mr. President that Emordi’s presence has not earned him the needed leverage in the legislature as many members continue to work against his interest despite the fact that they are from the same party.

“She (Emordi) has clearly demonstrated through a lack-lustre performance that she cannot build the required bridge between the President and the lawmakers and she had to go,” the source said.

It was learnt last night that the Presidency was already shopping for a more fiery northern politician, who would not only be able to attract the necessary political clout but also be able to mobilise support for the President.

Olagunju on the other hand is said to have failed to move NEPAD from its precarious state since his appointment and had to be booted out by the Presidency.

“NEPAD under Olagunju was dead and was only waiting for its final burial,” a source in the agency lamented, saying that the man had even outlived his usefulness.

Reacting to the development yesterday, Senator Joy Emodi in between receiving calls from serving legislators and well wishers expressed thanks to the president and the legislators for the support given her in the course of her assignment.

“I thank the president and all the legislators for the opportunity given to me to work with them.”

Senator Emodi was appointed to the position in 2011 and walked the difficult path of forging cordiality between the administration and the often skeptical National Assembly.
She was able to win the confidence of the legislators despite the hard feelings felt towards some elements in the administration.

PoliticsRe: CHRIS NGIGE's STELLAR PERFORMANCE IN THE SENATE!!!!! by pullyacap(op): 7:14pm On Sep 20, 2013
CONCLUSION!!!

But to give Professor Chinua Achebe his full place in Nigerian history, Senator Chris Ngige believed that anything short of National Burial would be a disservice to the fallen national hero. He captured it in the Motion and the entire Senate totally agreed. This is the first time such wholesome and complete agreement has passed the Nigerian Senate. Achebe had a full day of the Nigerian Senate Plenary session – a rare privilege accorded only to serving Senators who died in active service.

Mr. President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, graciously acted on the Motion and Professor Achebe was given a national burial, comparable to those of the late Dim Emeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. A National monument and a major street in Abuja, FCT will also be named after him in the spirit of the approved Motion.

One should expect that Mr. Okey Ndibe even if he did not notice any other Ngige’s contribution in the Senate, should have taken a very special notice of this great honour done to his mentor and confidant Professor Chinua Achebe.

Senator Ngige also has several Bills passing through the different stages of legislative process; including a revolutionary Bill – “Farmers Registration Council Bill” – which aims to, among other things, revolutionize agriculture by providing for a specialized Parastatal in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture that will be responsible for registering farmers and their farms hence develop a sustainable data base of professional farmers in the country, with its attendant benefits.

Ngige has many other Bills; for the repeal and reenactment , namely: National Hospital Abuja Act; Bill to Develop Industrial Parks in the South East Nigeria to help impact Skills and Reduce Unemployment among the Youths; Bill for the ban on importation of Incandescent Energy Consuming Bulbs, Robbery and Fire Arm (Special Provision) Act 2004 Amendment Bill, Bill for an Act to amend the Federal Housing Authority Act Cap F14, Bill for an Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act Cap F32, LFN 2004, to name a few. At least two of these Bills have scaled First Reading in the Senate. He has co-sponsored more than 25 Bills emanating from his different Committees.
Ngige also sponsored and co-sponsored a total of about 50 Motions. But in all, this Senator believes that Money Bill i.e. the budget is the football that a sharp Legislator should have his eyes on, for it is Appropriation that brings projects and economic wellbeing to the Constituents.

Apart from the clear legislative activism of Senator Chris Ngige, he has equally put to good use his position as Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Power to improve the lot of the South East and Anambra people, especially in the area of electricity and employment. The number of graduate employments, especially in the area of Electrical/Electronic and Mechanical Engineering graduates, Sub-Station reinforcements in the South East zone and transformers, which he made available or has in the 2013 Budget for his Zone and in particular for Anambra State, speak volumes. Another typical example are the 21 young first degree graduates in Electrical/Electronic Engineering graduates he sponsored for one year field training at the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), and at various electrical outfits and Transmission Stations such as Ijora, Egbim, Afam, Kanji and Jebba Stations.

Equally important should be the several Rural Electrification projects, which he attracted to Anambra state. These efforts have yielded a boost in electricity supply in the State and given access to the many areas hitherto without electricity supply. Professor Ndibe should find out what is happening in Awka Metropolis and environs with Electricity Supply as a result of the work on the 2 by 40 MVA/132 KV line and the 2 by 15 MVA Distribution in Agu Awka, completed by the PHCN/NIPP with Ngige’s continued pressure and interventions.

Ngige has also been a resource person to the Senate Committees he belongs by drawing heavily from his wide experience as a seasoned Civil Servant who retired in the directorate cadre and in governance as former Governor in management of men, materials and projects. Always fearless, Senator Ngige was responsible for the Nigeria Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) recovering from Nigeria Customs its missing 22 Containers of NIPP materials months ago. The recovery of these nextpreviouscontainers has contributed much to the recent improvement in power Generation and Transmission in many parts of the country.

So, Okey Ndibe’s assessment of Senator Ngige as one of the docile senators is in bad faith and grossly misconceived and clearly shows that he is not at home with the legislative functions of a Senator, especially in this environment.

He could be given benefit of the doubt as he may not have such information as provided herein though he made no effort to obtain some. And that is why the Senate Hansard, which contains the contributions of Senators to Debates is available in the National Assembly Internet Site and the Professor and others should avail themselves of it. More importantly and not intending to sound repetitive, he should note that Senator Ngige is more interested in Bills that have direct bearing on the lives of the people, be it on Health, Power, Education, Water Supply the Appropriation Bill i.e. the Budget and that makes him the people’s senator!

On Anambra governorship race, an objective assessor would give it to Senator Chris Ngige as one whom the cap fits, as he stands head and shoulder above the other political Lilliput contenders. He had been there before and posted a sterling performance, despite the saturation bombing and onslaughts against his administration by the Obasanjo-led Federal Government and his local co-conspirators in their dubious, desperate maneuvers to remove him from office.

As a Golden Era, in the 34 months of reengineering the State as Governor, Anambra people realized for the first time that there was money accruing to the coffers of the state. With such relatively meager resources and his stubborn refusal to share the State money with the cabals, he launched the State into the path to true greatness as the gateway to Eastern Nigeria and a flagship State in Nigeria.

There is little doubt that Anambra under Ngige would have long attained the One City State status longed for by many, fully industrialized and connected to the rest of the world as the commercial and industrial hob of West Africa reminiscent of the Silicon Valley in the US.

Under Senator Chris Ngige, Awka couldn’t have remained the only undeveloped State Capital in Nigeria since its creation in 1991, what former Minister Oby Ezekwesili christened a “Glorified Village Capital”.

All Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige and other well-meaning Anambrarians ask of INEC is a free and fair election so that Anambra masses would be able to decide who governs them in the 4 years of post-Obi era, and this will be decided November 16, 2013. God bless Anambra State!

‘Anambra’s Field Of The Half Baked’: Where Okey Ndibe Got It Wrong

By Law Mefor

A US based writer, Okey Ndibe, in his column in the Sun of 3rd September, 2013, published also in Sahara Reporters of the same day, wrote an insightful and interesting piece on the Anambra forthcoming election, titled ‘Anambra’s Field of the Half Baked’. Okey Ndibe hails from Anambra State, precisely from Amawbia, which is part of the State’s Capital. There is no doubt that Anambra’s political terrain as analyzed by Ndibe has become an all comers affair.

Okey Ndibe was to observe that the field was clustered by half-baked candidates, all manner of people, charlatans and people who have questionable credentials and certificates, with some either having an incredible load of bank debts or were thrown out of the Universities or Colleges and some without any strand of public service experience at all in their curriculum vitae.

However, the delectableness of the article went sour when Okey Ndibe tried to bunch Senator Dr. Chris Ngige, OON with all these minnows and reading through his treatise, it became clear to any discernible reader that Ndibe was rather labouring very seriously not to endorse Ngige as standing head and shoulder above these political Lilliputs.

One should however thank him for his fairness on Professor Chukwuma Soludo who was actively courted and hoodwinked by the APGA chieftains led by Chief Victor Umeh to enter the party and was subsequently guillotined when it mattered most in the ‘arranged’ APGA primaries. This left the field open for the Anambra State Government’s “Fidelity Bank Treasurer” to emerge as flag bearer.

Mr. Ndibe has also faulted the primaries of the PDP where Senator Andy Ubah and Tony Nwoye each emerged as factional candidates. One would not want to go into assessments of such candidates, but can make bold to say that starting from the process that threw Ngige up as the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Ndibe has nothing negative to point out therein.

His piece on Ngige was therefore patently faulty because he did not give credit to the APC Direct Primaries, which involved all the party men and women in their respective Wards, in which Ngige zoomed past a shell-shocked Chief Godwin Ezeemo, scoring over sixty three thousand votes as against nine thousand plus distantly scored by Ezeemo.

In that article, he had also given the impression that Ngige’s popularity and love by the people has waned and that “his image has lost much of its glitter”, to quote him directly, even when he knows that the main issue was that the man simply re-engineered to give the place everything in a State. He also gave Ngige a bashing by describing him as a mediocre senator. He even uncharitably remarked that Ngige’s startling performance as Governor of Anambra State (2003-2006) became amazing to the people because they had been subjected to low culture of expectation by Ngige’s predecessors, hence he restricted it to building of roads and payment of salaries alone, which is not true and he knows it.

One is also deeply worried by how Okey Ndibe had tried to juxtapose a legislator’s duty and duties of an Executive Governor of a state. It is important to start this argument from this fulcrum as the two jobs are at two ends of the pole.

As Governor, Ngige’s achievements were not limited to payment of salaries and road construction alone as Ndibe insinuated. His achievement in the area of security was spectacular also. Mr. Ndibe would attest that as at 2003, Amawbia his hometown had become infested with robbers and night marauders, to the extent that even the Governor’s Lodge located few poles from his village home was not spared the ordeal from these miscreants almost on a daily basis. Ngige wiped out all these threats in a matter of months. And by December of the same 2003, the likes of Okey Ndibe had started visiting home again and were no longer taking refuge in Abuja and Lagos, as many did then and still do today.

Ngige got no funds or help at the instance of the Federal Government e.g. Ecological Special Intervention Funds. Yet, he courageously forged on, providing unparalleled visionary leadership, security for the State, constructed roads, both State and Federal roads that were then deathtraps; cleared the arrears of salaries and pensions accumulated by the Chinwoke Mbadinuju Administration and paid salaries and pensions as at when due, revived schools, hospitals, gave water supply to Onitsha and Awka after a decade of dry taps, among other things and for the first time Anambrarians heaved a sigh of relief and received dividends of democracy. It is therefore unfair and unfortunate for Okey Ndibe or anybody to simplistically wave off such a Governor who inherited close to N30 Billion debts from his predecessor and left on a clean financial slate and for the first time in the history of Nigeria, left a N13.8 Billion Credit in the Banks despite his giant strides in developing Anambra State.

Back to the issue of Ngige being a docile senator; one has to first and foremost understand the fundamental and statutory responsibilities of the arm of Government. Statutorily, by the 1999 Constitution as amended and the Nigerian Senate Rules (the Red Book), the functions of the Legislature are Representation, Lawmaking and Oversights functions or monitoring of implementation of the laws, especially the money laws-Appropriation Act.

On these three scores, Senator Ngige has been one of the most effervescent and remarkable Senators of the 7th Senate. He is one of the most visible and is amongst those who spoke regularly, vociferously and forcefully in support of Bills and Motions that could ameliorate the lot of the distressed Nigerian masses. And when the need arose, he also spoke against Bills that are oppressive and anti masses. Typical example being when an Anti-Strike Labour Bill was surreptitiously sent to the Senate by the Executive, as a Private Member Bill and was almost scaling through (passed by the Senators) to go to 3rd and final reading, till Senator Ngige got up and spoke against that Bill and many Senators then found their voice and started clapping for him – an unconventional thing in the Senate but was adopted by his colleagues to demonstrate their appreciation of this rare display of courage.

It will also interest Okey Ndibe to know that in the National Assembly, the bulk of the work is done in Committees and Senator Ngige has been very remarkable in Committees’ works, especially in the Senate Committee on Power where he is the Vice Chairman and Health where he is the medical doctor with the longest years of post-registration and public service experience.

Remarkably too, before the Senators representing both Anambra North and South settled down in their seats in the Senate, following their long drawn and protracted litigations, Senator Ngige ensured that the Constituency Projects’ Funds accruing to the two Zones were not lost. He fought as the only Senator from Anambra State for their Constituency Projects to be captured in the year 2012 Budget, amidst stiff opposition from those who argued that with Senator Andy Uba’s mandate having been nullified by the Court of Appeal then and Senator Margery Okadigbo slugging it out with Chief Alphonsus Igbeke in the different Courts for about 2 years, their Zones were not entitled to those funds.

Perhaps the most historic contribution of Senator Ngige is his Motion for the immortalization and National Burial for the Late Professor Chinua Achebe. Professor Achebe ordinarily may not have been given a National Burial if the Motion by Senator Ngige did not forcefully pray for it and won it in debate. Though one of the most outstanding Nigerians that ever lived, Achebe never served Nigeria at National level in a capacity that would have earned such a National honour.

Victor Umeh: Time for Confession of Sin By Ferdinand Ekeoma

SOURCE:http:///yGVbpCNg3f

A renowned statesman once declared, “If by omission or commission the right people are not allowed to occupy public offices, the wrong people will assume such positions and turn back to enact a law, mandating the sane to go naked, with stiff penalty on defaulters”.
If there is one character who has done a great disservice to Ndi Igbo in recent times, it is the controversial factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Victor Umeh, who by all negative standard fits into the description found in the first paragraph of this piece.

One has to be qualified for discuss before becoming worthy of criticism. Chief Victor Umeh knows how unqualified, unworthy and unimportant he is for discuss, and in his desperation to be mentioned and discussed in the midst of credible people, he has dedicated himself to confusion, mischief, and mediocrity, hopping that his anti people and anti progressive outbursts and other vices will always attract replies and responses from worthy minds whose sensibilities are being recklessly assaulted.

Recall how timid, unrefined, and unknown he was before Chief Chekwas Okorie picked him up, brushed and gave him a place in APGA.
The thought by Chief Chekwas Okorie that Victor Umeh would be a worthy and reliable servant to both Okorie and APGA, the way Okorie had been to Ojukwu, APGA and Ndi Igbo, turned out to be a big miscalculation, and a risk too costly.

While Chekwas Okorie and others were strategizing to cement the place of APGA in the Nigerian political circle, Umeh the usurper was seriously but secretly plotting to dislodge his master, hijack APGA, and negotiate for his stomach. The result of that Umeh’s unprovoked and selfish coup, is the mess being witnessed in APGA today.

Because Umeh is coming from the path of greed and insincerity, he doesn’t cherish the value of truth, else he would have made a flash back to 2003, and compared the now divided and deserted town union called APGA which he is presently leading, and the APGA of his predecessor.

Having seen the intensity with which the fire he ignited is razing down the once solid and United house, Umeh and his little mind sponsors have turned their attention to their nemesis, Owelle Rochas OKorocha, the Executive Governor of Imo State.

We don’t need to dissipate energy recalling the efforts of Governor Okorocha in ensuring that APGA didn’t disintegrate, of course such explanations are of little importance since Okorocha’s progressive flight is already mid air, but we have chosen not to allow innocent Nigerians, especially Ndi Igbo suffer disinformation in the hands of Victor Umeh and other moribund minds whose vision centre only on their pockets.

Need we remind Chief Victor Umeh that Owelle Rochas Okorocha was the only available politician with the charisma, acceptability, and followership to dislodge the Imo political cabal in 2011, and that his people inspired victory was propelled by his Nationally and Internationally acclaimed goodwill which the people reciprocated, not as a result of the support of an unknown and inconsequential Victor Umeh.

When Rochas Okorocha stood firmly against the clandestine move to sell APGA to a rival political party, he wasn’t a traitor. When Okorocha sustained Victor Umeh and APGA, for the sake of Ndi Igbo, he wasn’t a traitor. When Imo state Government House literarily became Ume’s house and hiding place, Okorocha wasn’t a traitor. Now that Okorocha’s progressive ship has left the shores of River Niger for a voyage of Igbo rediscovery and empowerment, Victor Umeh and co are still trapped at Upper Iweka, searching for a tricycle and singing the traitor song; what a pity!

Umeh knew from day one that Owelle Okorocha worked assiduously and was very much open to any alliance, integration or merger that would make APGA a stronger force. Umeh also knew from day one and was not opposed to Okorocha’s merger ideology, but as a corny tortoise with self centered philosophy, he kept calm and only waited to know the outcome of the case in court. If he had lost, he would have carried his faction to join the merger of the progressives, and now that he got a temporary victory in court, he knows how important his faction of APGA could be in extorting money from unsuspecting politicians, of course his victims in Anambra are still telling their painful stories, because he is a professional extortionist, whose conscience is dictated by the volumes of available naira notes.
Even without a choir master by his side, Umeh is now singing the song of the saint, yet he is happily putting on his sinful apparel; what a contradiction.

Victor Umeh had no problem extorting money from Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and others, but threw morals into the Dustbin by insulting this distinguished Igbo son, in the name of disqualification, just to justify the Egunje given to him by his recently reconciled pay masters; who says they will not chase him away again? Of course he will not see a Rochas Okorocha to run to for economic sustenance, because his Egunje has no Ofo na Ogu, and therefore does not last.

Victor Umeh’s anger, pains, and frustration would have been understandable if he had toed the path of reasoning and civility in expressing this great loss, because no political party would want to lose a beautiful bride like Rochas Okorocha, whose administrative vision and political sagacity remains a big asset to those that cherish meritocracy, but who told Umeh that he has got what it takes to lead a political party to success. Who told him that OKorocha is suffering from the same myopia with which he Umeh contributed in destroying APGA?

Umeh needs to be reminded that leading a political party goes beyond putting on the respected Igbo traditional red cap which Umeh wears as a symbolic strategy to appear a patriotic Igbo man, while indulging in anti Igbo activities(Umeh ochedi na ndi Igbo bu Ewu)

The hard truth is now staring Umeh in the face. He knows what the exit of Rochas Okorocha from APGA means, especially with the exodus of other decampees. He knows that he Umeh is one leg away from absolute political relevance, and he feels the only way to express his disapproval and frustration is to resort to mischief, distortion of facts, and verbal venoms, but does Okorocha know that a Victor Umeh exist at all?

We know how much Victor Umeh cherishes his stomach that he can dance naked in the market place as well as prostrate to pick the discarded grains under the table of the slave masters, but he should know that the attention and cheers he desperately seeks can only come from the vultures.

We are very much aware that this cash and carry factional chairman of APGA and other mischief makers now see the Rochas Okorocha brand as an avenue for economic survival, since every attack, defamation, and falsehood against him is handsomely rewarded by their paymasters, but we make bold to remind these anti democracy and anti Igbo elements that Okorocha represents a progressive dawn that cannot be tamed by self seeking non conformists.

We do not preach repentance to a Victor Umeh that is yet to confess his sins, but we advice that he meditates on the words of the great Martin Luther King Jnr. that, “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity”.

If Umeh can shun sincere ignorance and avoid conscientious stupidity, he will admit that he has neither the vision, the passion, the credibility, the acceptability nor the sincerity to lead a political party to success and greatness, so the earlier he retired to his hut of hallucination for sober reflection and confession of sin, the better for him.

New PDP Faction Has More Than 14 Governors

Indications have emerged that the fractionalization of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP with the emergence of a new faction led by formerVice President Atiku Abubakar and seven governors of the party might just be the beginning of more intrigues to come as a source within the party has said that “the next few days will introduce to the polity foundation-moving actions that may see the end of PDP as we presently know it“.

The source who was among the fellows that walked out of the PDP convention revealed further that up to fourteen governors have already expressed interest in crossing the aisle to join them.

He explained that the reason only seven (7) governors walked out today was because the seven were the coordinators of the group. He claimed in his words that“President Jonathan is aware of the number of Governors who are with us“.

It was made clear that should the President refuse to toe the line of dialogue– that the group of governors and other stakeholder will likely collapse the PDP into another party – likely the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) or Voice of the People (VOP).

The announcement of the formation of a new faction came earlier today at a press briefing in Abuja where Abubakar Kawu Baraje, a former acting National Chairman of the PDP was announced as the leader of the new faction of the party. The press briefing was attended by at least seven governors including those of Kano, Sokoto, Rivers, Jigawa, Kwara, Adamawa, and Niger. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was also at the press briefing.

A former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the PDP, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was announced as the National Secretary of the new PDP faction.

The source explained also that the group opted to stage a walkout today during the national convention into order to hit the Jonathan-lead PDP ‘hard’ and ‘publicly’.

ijaw citizen: You are entitled to your own opinion. The fact that Amaechi is vying for the vice presidency is a well known fact and not a lie peddled for gullible readers, there a election campaign posters to that effect. If Wike is coming for the senate seat then there is no cause for alarm! Is Amaechi afraid of a more grassroot-grounded Wike? Ikwerres will support Wike ahead of Amaechi any day, so will Okrikans. All these talks about Wike coming for the governorship is a fat lie originating from the insecure and deceitful Amaechi camp. Wike is one of the pillars of PDP in Rivers state and he understands the power sharing formula in the state.

Mind you, there is no tension whatsoever between Ikwerre and Okrikans, neither is there any riverine/upland tension as the OP and other fools are tryna portray here on Nairaland just to cast aspersions on Ijaws and the President. Rivers people are tired of the high handedness and super corrupt Gov. Amaechi and this is a fact and a sentiment shared by all Rivers people irrespective of Upland/Riverine divide. You are one of the mischievious people here spreading a Riverine/Upland battle. Get a life dude!

This news leads credence to my earlier post that Nyesom Wike is on a collision course with the First Lady owing to his display of ITK(I too Know) and IGG(Initial Gragra),now he is trying to save face by blaming Obuah over a statement. Who is deceiving who here?
PoliticsWhat Goes Around Comes Around?? Wike Moves To Dump Felix Obuah by pullyacap(op):
POLITICS: Rivers State PDP Fate Hangs in the Balance, as Wike Moves to Dump Obuah

SOURCE: http:///BEXU7nR8bo

Fresh crisis has hit the already polarized ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State as the Party heads for the rocks with the new plot by the leader of the faction led by Felix Obuah, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike to dump the controversial Chairman over what Wike considers as weak and cantankerous.A source close to the Minister for State, Education, revealed under guise that the recent pronouncement by Obuah at AhoadaEast during the inauguration of the Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI, may have become his albatross.

Obuah who sources within the groupdescribe as inexperienced, less exposed and incompetent to play the politics at the centre because he possess no finesse and charisma mayhave shot himself in the foot when he declared that Wike is the next governor of Rivers State.

Our checks at AGOGO NEWS revealed that in spite of the ovation he received for that pronouncement, it tends to have exposed the sinister plot by Wike to deceive the people particularly those who have ambition to succeed Gov. Chibuike Amaechi into believing that the campaign against Amaechi’s government is for the success of President Goodluck Jonathan’s perceived ambition to seek re- election. As the news of Obuah’s statements hit the airwaves, there was said to be a disquiet within the camp of the group headed by the vociferous junior minister.

Obuah’s unguarded statements were said to have sent a signal to the powers that be in Abuja that Wike’s recent show of ‘love’ for the President and his wife may be a plot to retain power in the hands of the Ikwerre ethnic group where the present Governor comes from.

Inside sources at the Villa revealed that the political think- thank of the President have resolved that an endorsement for Wike will eventually pitch President Jonathan against his own people of Ijaw ethnicNationality who believe that it is their turn to occupy the exalted seat after Gov. Amaechi in 2015.

According to our findings, the Ijaws in Rivers State comprising of Kalabaris, Okrikans, Andonis, Bonnys and the Opobos are already coming together in a bid to resist anyplan by Wike to impose himself on the people of the State. Speaking on the issue to our correspondent, AlaboGeorge Tamuno- Dagogo, a prominent traditional ruler dismissed the plan by Wike and his unsuspecting supporters as those who will work for others to benefit from in the long run.

He said, “It is now clear that the so-called opposition against Amaechi is for the interest of one man whose penchant for avarice is known to us. He has deceived people to follow himin the plot to stop Amaechi at all cost while he is positioning himself to become governor. We now know better and we are going to resist him at all cost”, he said.

With the clamor by the other ethnic groups particularly the Ijaws and theOgonis to stop Wike at this stage, the spin doctors of the now embattled Minister have concluded plans to replace Obuah in order to reduce further mistakes by the man who they now see as having been used to oust the former Chairman of the Party in the state who is loyal to Amaechi.

They say he has outlived his usefulness and they are confused on how to discard him to avoid losing grip of the Party’s structure. There are also reports making rounds that Obuah may eventually sell out to Gov. Amaechi who it was that ferriedhim to South Africa for multiple surgeries when there was an assassination attempt on his life in 2008. A close ally of Obuah revealed that the former Chairman of Ogba/ Egbema/ Ndoni LGA feels indebted to Amaechi and may eventually truncate Wike’s plans to become governor.
Obuah who is popularly known as GO ROUND is said to have complained of Wike’s high – handedness particularly when he was the Chairman of Obio/ Akpor LGA and eventually the National Chairman of ALGON. According to our source, the two men have never been best of friends even when they both served as local council chairmen, and Wike being suspiciousof this is said to have concluded plans to replace Obuah before the 2015 elections.

Asked how Wike will achieve that, the source said that his boss who masterminded the coming of Obuah against Chuef G.U. Ake possesses the falsified documents that may have brought Obuah into power as it is a known fact the Obuah never indicated his interest to vie for the position during the Party’s congress.

The renewed crisis in the ruling Party may portend grave danger if the leaders of the Party do not wade in. The end result may be likened to the scenario in Anambra State and Imo States where the opposition took over the reins of power from the once formidable PDP.

Nyesom Wike On Collision Course With Patience Jonathan Over Who Succeeds Amaechi in 2015

SOURCE: http:///CfeBk4sKaS

The recent unguarded statements credited to the controversial Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Felix Obuah where he exposed the secret behind the campaign by the junior Minister of State for Education, Barr. Ezebunwo Nyeso Wike against the Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi may have jolted the powers that be in Aso Rock who are threatening to withdraw their support for the Minister whose penchant for violent criticism has drawn the ire of many stakeholders in the Nigerian question.

Our source who pleaded anonymity confirmed that as soon as reports of the statement by Obuah who had told supporters and members of a faction of the PDP under the auspices of the GDI, a political organization set up by Wike to propagate his ambition of becoming Amaechi’s successor that Wike os the next governor of Rivers state; reached the Presidency, the First Lady was said to have been jolted and visibly angry as that is not her calculation for 2015 in her home state, Rivers which is divided into Upland and Riverine with her native Okrika belonging to the Riverine.

Informed sources say the First Lady. Dame Patience Jonathan is favorably disposed towards having a successor to Amaechi from the Riverine area particularly from Okrika.

The First Lady who no doubts has a stake in the power game of the oil-rich Rivers State is said to have expressed her disdain over Wike’s plot to use her name in other to feather his nest and perceived ambition.

Our checks revealed that the First Lady and Wike may soon be on a collision path over the plot by Wike who is from the same ethnic group and Rivers East Senatorial zone with the present governor. Wike and Amaechi are both from Ikwerre ethnic nationality and by 2015, they would have occupied the seat of power for eight years.

It would be recalled that sequel to the 2007 elections while Amaechi and his cousin Celestine Omehia battled over who was the rightful candidate of the PDP and eventual winner of the elections the Kalabaris led by Alabo Tonye Graham Douglas had kicked against the plan to install a governor from the upland area as the then governor. Peter Odili is from Ndoni in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni L.G.A., an upland region of the state. They claimed it was the turn of the Riverine people to produce the governor but that position was countered by the Ogbakor Ikwerre, a socio-cultural organization of the Ikwerre people who argued that the rotation of the governorship should be amongst the three senatorial zones first before considerations by the ethnic groups.

With the emergence of Amaechi as governor from Ikwerre extraction and Rivers East Senatorial zone, it is expedient that his successor would emerge from another senatorial zone or ethnic group. But that arrangement seems to have been destroyed with Wike’s renewed plot to divide the Ikwerres into North and South, a situation which portends danger to the unity and peace of the Ikwerre people.

More so, the First Lady may prefer the choice of a governor from the Ijaw area of the state particularly Okrika which had only produced a governor during the truncated 18 month-tenure of Rufus Ada George. Sources close to her say she is determined to ensure that the imbalance is redressed, as such, she is leaving no stone untouched in this regard. The sinister motive of Wike which has also drawn the ire of the MOSOP as well as other ethnic groups and Ijaw leaders may cause a rumbling amongst the ethnic groups and the GDI which he is the leader.

Since the expose by Obuah during the launch of GDI at Ahaoada East, the once rested issue of Riverine/ Upland dichotomy has become a mantra and is threatening the peace which the state has enjoyed since the coming of Amaechi as governor.

Reports reaching our news desk also has it that some Ijaw leaders who are behind the clamour for the unity of the Ijaws led by Chief Edwin Clark have also dismissed Wike’s ambition as one that would not fly. Clark was quoted by an insider to have said that he would speak at the appropriate time. He said,” even if we do not support Amaechi, Wike is not the chosen one to succeed him. His plan to foist himself on Rivers people is politically and morally impossible and at the rifht time, I will speak”, he said.

Our source who also pleaded anonymity revealed that the plan is for Wike to be used now by those who want to stop Amaechi at all cost and thereafter abandon him. Wike who was a close ally of Gov. Amaechi is considered as the one who knows Amaechi’s weakness and secrets and as such would be instrumental in the plot to stop his perceived ambition to occupy Aso Rock.

He confirmed speculations that he may left his ministerial assignment and has been drafted by the Presidency to prosecute the political war against Amaechi in the state all in a bid to weaken the governor’s growing political influence at the centre. The junior Minister also told reporters recently in Port Harcourt that the President, Goodluck Jonathan is aware of his political activities in the state confirming media reports that he is backed by powerful forces to “make sure that the state is ungovernable for Amaechi and to ensure that those in power sleep with their one eye open”.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say the favored successor to Amaechi is Senator George Sekibo, a kinsman of Mrs Jonathan. It may yet be another epic battle between Wike and Sekibo. It would be recalled that Sekibo was anointed by the First Lady in 2011 to occupy the Rivers East Senatorial seat but was fiercely resisted by Wike who had the ambition of going to the Senate but was prevailed by Amaechi to step down and allow the First Lady have the concession. Amaechi was said to have told his former Chief of Staff to allow for a proper zoning arrangement as it would amount to injustice for the Ikwerres to occupy the governorship position as well as the Senatorial seat at the same time, thereby denying the Riverines of that position. That position did not go down well with Wike who believed that Amaechi may have conceded to the First Lady only in a bid to deny him( Wike) the position since the governor may have Senatorial ambition in 2015.

Observers are watching how both Amaechi and Wike will extricate themselves albeit their Ikwerre people from the political web of the Ijaws backed by the nation’s First Lady.

Joe Igbokwe Reacts to the Stand of Ohaneze Ndigbo on the Lagos Deportation Saga

Posted by Editor

The spokesman of defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and head of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance &Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), Joe Igbokwe, has reacted positively to the stand of Ohaneze Ndigbo leadership over Lagos deportation saga.
Igbokwe in his response via email believes that Ohaneze is thinking strategically. Hear him.

From Joe Igbokwe

I do not want to join issues with all those who have rendered a veritable tool Oyibopeople invented to help humanity almost nugatory by engaging into tribal verbal wars here. Over the years I have watchedthese foolish engagements by people sufficiently educated to know better but have chosen to play Ostrich. Igbo must think about Strategic interest always. People that were taken to the North are less human, those taken South West are less human, those taken to Ebonyi and Akwalbom in 2011 by Gov Obi are less human abi? nkem di iche bu ajo aha. Honest intellectuals in Igboland must pullthe rug away from some people who create enemies for Ndigbo in this forum at the drop of a hat.

The crippled cannot be the akwaa akwulu Ndigbo. The blind cannot be the anya Ndigbo ji ahu uzo in Nigeria. Half baked educated people cannot speak for Ndigbo. The nonsensicaleffusions going on here in the name of theso- called deportation in Lagos is a misnomer, an aberration, reprehensible and a basket case. A man going to the market to buy basket knows that he is notgoing to use it to store water. The man selling the basket knows also that the buyer cannot use it to store water. A word is enough for the wise . Ohaneze is thinking. Ohaneze understands the game.Ohaneze can get it. Case rested!-

Below is the earlier report of Ohaneze Stance on Deportation of Igbos

Ohaneze Urges Restraint over Deportation of Igbos-Describes Yorubas as Allies

Ohaneze Ndgbo have urged for restraint in the responses from Igbos over the issueof their deported sons and daughters on the orders of Lagos State Government. The group also called for restraint in the ongoing Igbos-Yoruba hate comments to avoid unnecessary tension in the polity. This was stated by the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Joe Nwaorgu during a briefing with group of clergymen led by Rev Obinna Akukwe who sought clarification on the crisis ridden state of Ndigbo at Enugu, yesterday.

The Ohaneze leader said that he had spoken personally with Governor Fasholaover the issue and heard the other side of the story. Dr Nwaorgu also informed the clergymen that the President of Igbo Community in Lagos, Prof Anya .O. Anya was earlier instructed to get in touch with Fashola over the issue and that the Governor personally drove to Prof Anya’s house where he clarified with them on the issue. Describing the deportation of anybody in Nigeria, not just Igbos, as morally unjustifiable and legally wrong, he said that destitutes should be rehabilitated instead and not dehumanized. He said that Igbos and Yorubas are not at war and advised against hateful incitements by attention seeking politicians from both sides.

The Ohanaeze leader also said that the body had not authorized anybody to speak on its behalf concerning 2015 presidential elections and revealed that the decision on who to support will be taken on the last day of the 2013 Igbo DayCelebrations scheduled for September 24-27th. He discountenanced reports in a newspaper last Sunday that Ohaneze waspart of an earlier summit insisting on Igbo presidency and said that options are still open to Ndigbo.

In the same vein the Secretary of Electoral Committee in the January 12th Ohaneze controversial election Dr Mrs Felly Eneh had reiterated that there is no faction in Ohaneze. The woman leader was making veiled references to media reports purportedly sponsored by a presidential aide that a faction of Ohaneze Ndigbo met at Enugu last Saturday, said that”the election of January 12th was legally conducted and those who think otherwise are minority irritants and entitled to their opinion, people are just being sponsored to create confusion”. She condemned the killing of Igbos in Kano and asked government to do proper investigation.

The Assistant National Publicity Secretaryof Ohanaeze and gubernatorial aspirant in Anambra State , Barrister Emejulu Okpalaukwu in his reaction explained that Ohanaeze leadership is engaging the presidency for more security for Igbos especially in Kano and expressed confidence that the quiet diplomacy of the Ohanaeze President General, Chief Nnachi Igariwey would yield tangible results.

Ohaneze leadership had earlier expressed angst that its Kano State Branch President, Chief Tobias Idika is being hunted by Kano State Government and Police Command and warned against anyfurther harassment of the Chapter President. They, however, asked Chief Idika not to make any further public statements on the Kano issue, promising to engage the presidency quietly over the state of Ndigbo in Kano.

The Ime-Obi Ohaneze met last Saturday at Ohaneze Headquarters, Enugu and discussed wide range of issues affecting Igboland. The group, among other issues opposed the grazing bill before the National Assembly and cautioned against ethnicization of the Onitsha head bridge deportation saga. Ohaneze also prohibited state chapters of the group from issuing press statements on nationalissues without clearance from the national secretariat.

The highly attended Ime-Obi meeting hadthe presence of Eze Justice Ozobu, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, Eze Desmond Ogugua, Eze Gibson Nwosu, Eze Njemanze,Dr Dozie Ikedife,Chief Mbazulike Amechi, Rev Obinna Akukwe,Senator Hope Uzodimma, Prof ABC Nwosu, Ezeigbo BenNwosu, Barrister Emejulu Okpalaukwu, Nze Mark Odu, Prof S.E Asogwa among numerous Igbo leaders in attendance.

The Andy Ubah primary was organised by another faction of the PDP at another venue. Only Andy Ubah attended his own primary while ALL the other aspirants are currently at the ongoing primary, chaired by Katsina state governor
Whereas INEC is recognising the Ejike Oguebego's faction which is loyal to Andy Uba....there lies ahead indeed a silhouette of earth moving problems for PDP

Infact just 3days ago another court judgement was served on PDP HQ,INEC and PDP anambra not to accord recognition on any group other than Ejike Oguebego's faction

So one is at loss why PDP is wilfully disobeying a court order. I thought we have travelled this road before?

Court Insists Oguebego is Anambra PDP Chair
21 Aug 2013

A Federal High Court sitting at Port Harcourt Tuesday ruled that its earlier order that Mr. Ejike Oguebego is the authentic Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State be upheld.

The plaintiff, Oguebego, had approached the court to declare him the recognised chairman of the party in the state.

The court in the interim, gave an ex-parte order restraining both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP from dealing with the Ken Emeakayi faction until the main application for injunction is heard and warned that Oguebego should continue to be recognised as the party’s chairman.

Yesterday, the court was scheduled to hear the main injunction Oguebego, at the court, complained that despite the ex-parte order earlier obtained, the PDP national body, had been dealing with the Emeakayi faction.

The PDP lawyer, Mr. M. Kanu, informed the court that the party will not disobey the court order anymore.

INEC’s lawyer Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), informed the court that INEC had always and will continue to abide by the court order.

The court however could not hear the main application yesterday, but the PDP filed a paper challenging the order made and the jurisdiction of the court to even make the order.

Because there was not enough time, the court adjourned till next Monday for the hearing of the application presented by the PDP.
