9ja_I_hail: Can a cleaner with a broom but has no Parker make a good cleaner? Just a simple question, as for me Anambra does not need a gang star party or should i say children of anger party to achieve it goals. If i may have my way, my first target will be to outlaw this islamic party just as it was nicely done in Egypt. APC is a threat to any democracy, a party that condemns anything done by any Government. This party called APC must be very dangerous than cancer.

It is a pity some of us are probably just experiencing democracy for the 1st time hence always feel and think every1 of us must share the same views and political ideology.

To these latter day democracy experiencers, whoever does not share in their one-way traffic view of life is a terrorist, dissenter and hater of the government! How purile and infantile a thought process

Infact dissent and opposition with an alternative view in every proposition of the ruling party is the real meaning of DEMOCRACY!

You said you don't want military dictatorship because they didn't allow anyone including the media to operate freely yet again it is people like you who also don't want anyone to say otherwise in a democracy....

How confused you lot are!!

I am more than willing to wager my trust in this newly formed movement represented in APC whereby while another party is using every means to divide us and put enmity amongst us,APC is doing the needful to help cement the bond of friendship and regional camaraderie that should ordinarily exist among us

A country where an Hausa man don't hate the Igbo and the Yoruba don't despise the SSners

I hope Pro-APGA e-warriors will not discountenance this opinion poll and dismiss it with a wave of the hand!

In my own opinion, the opinion poll seem credible and did try to analyse each candidate's strenght and weaknesses!

If the truth be told Ifeanyi Uba was the revelation of the debates while Obiano suffered a setback which seem to have thrown his camp into panic. Ngige has been steady in his ratings and he seems to have his fan base well locked down despite the sword, daggers and bombs being thrown at him by opposition

Opinion polls are not absolute determinant of actual elections but none of the candidates should scoff at their pointers

AdekunleBalogun: Sooner or latter the south-south will realised that Ameachi is currently doing them a favour. Come to think of it, how many south-south politician have been able to join the main-stream politics, how many of them currently carries equal charisma as Ameachi. Let jonathan leave power today and no south-south will be found in the main stream on Nigerian politics.... His mistake or betrayer as this people claim might actually be a blessing in disguise for the south-south, while Jonathan is forcing his acceptability on other part of Nigeria, Ameachi has already been warmly accepted. It a choice for the south-south either they cast him or accept him, its their choice.

An open-minded,neutral observer of the polity will see sense in your comment

With all due respect the GEJ presidency is the most divisive and disrespectful of other geopolitical region with the way he has conducted himself as though he is never gonna leave that seat hence destroying the remainder of whatever goodwill and sympathy neutral observer donated to the SS

I wonder who that politician is from the SS who can rally other regions of the country together to support whatever political aspiration they may want to pursue with all these abuse, insults, derisions, taunts and enmity they have created heretofore

Politics / Latest Account On House Of Rep Inquiry Into #STELLAGATE by pullyacap: 2:40pm On Oct 30, 2013
Latest happenings from the House of Rep enquiry into the #STELLAGATE

The best way to understand this is to read from Bottom-Up

National, News

The House of Representatives committee on Aviation, this afternoon began hearing on the purchase of two armoured cars for the aviation minister, Stella Oduah, at the cost of N255 million.

The hearing was earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday but was postponed to allow the minister, who was away in Israel for a bilateral air service agreement signing, to return to the country.

PREMIUM TIMES’ National Assembly correspondent, Ini Ekott, will provide you with updates as they unfold from the hearing room.

14.29

Interaction with First Bank representative continues.
First Bank:The armoured BMWs were not part of the first order from NCAA which comprised mainly Land Cruisers totaling less than N600 million.
House chair, Nkiruka Onyejeocha:So could it be that the BMWs were an afterthought?
First Bank:That’s for the NCAA to answer.

14.24

“Absence of the minister is a slap on the face of the House,” Jerry Manwe, a member of the committee from Taraba state said, apparently angered by the minister’s absence.

14.23

First Bank official, Seyi Oyefeso, that oversaw the transaction addressed the House committee on behalf of the Executive Director of the bank.
First Bank was invited to make proposals alongside other banks and tender was opened publicly on 21 of May, 2013 in the presence of other banks and media
First Bank was afterwards shortlisted alongside 7 others.
First Bank granted a loan facility of N643 million for purchase of assorted cars.

14.19

The Customs representatives at the hearing said Coscharis lied to the Ministry of Finance and NSA, making them to believe that the cars were for Lagos state government, for the National Sports festival.
The NSA office issued End User certificate without knowing that it was doing so for cars to be delivered to Stella Oduah or the NCAA.
So, in a way, the NSA office is right to have told PREMIUM TIMES it did not issue end user certificate for any bullet proof cars for Minister Oduah and the NCAA.

14.11

Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, Manasa Daniel Jatau, said the following
The two cars were imported through Tin Can Port 2; Imported from Antwerp Netherlands.
The vehicles were cleared 19/6/2013.
Coscharis imported the cars without paying import duties since there was a waiver from the ministry of finance.
Coscharis obtained the waiver claiming the armoured cars were part of 300 vehicles imported for the Sports festival in Lagos last year, and therefore the beneficiary was Lagos state government.
The due import duty should have been N10.1 million.
The cars had an End User Certificate from the NSA office in the name of Coscharis.
The waiver obtained by Coscharis was for one year; as such the time of importation this year was covered.
Customs admit its laws requires that it enforces duty on any item for which waiver was obtained, which was not used for the purpose stated-in this case, for Sports festival.

13.53

Car dealers as well as end users of armoured cars are mandated to seek authorization from the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, before ordering or importing such vehicles into Nigeria.
Last week, reliable sources at the office of the NSA told PREMIUM TIMESno authorization certificate was ever issued to either Minister Oduah or the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, to procure the controversial vehicles.

13.50

Nigerian Customs confirmed that the two cars were imported and cleared at Tin Can 2.
The Customs said the import duty on the two cars which should have been N10 million plus were not paid because there was a waiver note issued by the finance ministry.
Customs also confirmed there was an End User certificate issued by the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA.

13.43

The hearing, proposed to start at noon, started 25 minutes late. The minister is absent at the hearing. The committee said it will take a position on that later.

Then stop crying that ur ethnic is not represented in its executive or when the party deny your ethnic its platform to vie the elusive presidency.

That was very cerebral of you man!

Very funny people....who prefers to move into a finished and commissioned house rather than partake in its development

In some other thread, some uninformed lot would even say that APC should give an Igbo its presidential ticket automatically before they can take the party seriously yet they continue to demonise their people who are likely to become beneficiary of such decision if even it eventually comes

The Northerners have strategically positioned themselves in PDP whether for 2015 or at worst after GEJ....whereas the political leaders of Igbo extraction are not planning or making any moves in that regards. Infact some of their leaders like Arthur Nzeribe,Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu etc have pointed said 2019 is not even feasible owing to what they are benefitting from PDP

Someone said they are ok with APGA-PDP collabo and I laff in Ebira dialect! Who are the people in APGA or even PDP( please don't say Ekwueme as we all know he is just a figure head therein while the Ubas,Arthur Ezes,Emeka Offors are just AGIPS) that can negotiate for them in a PDP peopled by OBJ,Anenih,IBB,Atiku....GEJ is not even a power broker himself, the only thing going for him is the power of incumbency which only lapse immediately after his tenure

There is sure the need for a new political paradigm shift by the Ndi'gbos to play big nationally other than this well worn out method of individualisttic approach by their leaders to issues affecting them
Politics / Re: Anambra 2013: Ngige Stands Tall by pullyacap: 5:41pm On Oct 27, 2013
Abiolacicero: Ngige is not anyones boy in APC. He was one of the major stakeholders/ partner in the formation of AC, ACN & APC and NOBODY can dictate to him unlike Obi-anu who will just be a figurehead gov, so all the people crying of imposition are just been naive and mischievous. There are 9 Igbos out of numerous ethnic groups in APCs national executives and i dont know how else these bigots intend to be convinced. The stupid thing is that these lots will later cry of marginalisation if the party refuse to give them a major position due to there low participation or contribution. All the people saying they love Ngige or that Ngige is the best candidate but hating because of his party (APC) are free to vote a retardeen instead.

Well said but pride and ruining obstinacy won't allow some people especially those who don't know jack about the way political favour and negotiation are curried and determined

Those who are suspicious of APC now until things start falling into place will only have themselves to blame by the time this political re-amalgation ends

Some of you obviously wish to be fringe players in National politics of Nigeria that is why you are defiantly holding unto sectional and tribal political philosophy which normally makes one get alienated.

Keep it up.....by the time your eyes clear up...you won't say they didn't tell u

In politics, you can even align with your 'enemies' only that you will negotiate very well the terms of alliance but bigotted Igbos( not all) don't want to align politically with the Hausas and also hold the yorubas in disdain...yet Biafra is not anywhere in the horizon......think people!!!

Where and how did you come about that?

Ben Akabueze a full blood Igbo man has been a commissioner for the past 12years in APC's Lagos yet u say APC displays anti-Igbo antics while the Hausas don't even have an high ranking person in Lagos

Joe Igbokwe is a high ranking Igbo man in APC

Several thousand of Igbo civil servants work with LASG whereas Abia state sacked same Igbos

Unless you are not open-minded that's when you will say all these and if you use what is happening on NL between you and some yoruba guys to conclude that is what knowledgeable and highly exposed politicians like Tinubu,Fashola and others who understand the need to form alliances and build bridges across all ethnic group will do then I pity your own level of exposure too

No party can afford to joke or deliberately toy or ridicule any particular section of this country as they will not manufacture votes from heaven but if they try to court and befriend you and you keep using the past( what happened between Awolowo and Zik) to judge them then too bad

You think all the Igbos in APC like Ngige,Rochas,Osita Izunaso,Ogbonnaya Onu,Annie Okonkwo will open their eyes and watch some people ridicule their tribe But if you cant perceive politics in all the issues involved in this Anambra election then goodluck!

What is obvious is that when the N600 millions vehicles were purchased in 2011, there was complete LOCAL MEDIA BLACKOUT on the incident. The question is why? Why is there always a BLACKOUT when certain people 'commit' and an UPROAR when those on the other side engage in similar act?

This SELECTIVE outcry is also a form of corruption

Liar extraordinaire!!! Local media blackout
When Tribune, The Sun newspaper(Orji Uzor Kalu), Compass(Otunba Gbenga Daniel), Independent(Ibori/ Abel Ubeku), National Mirror(Jimoh Ibrahim) is there, Champion's Newspaper(Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu), Vanguard(Sam Amuka Pemu) all Pro-PDP papers are there yet you claim there was a media blackout

Some people sure need to go back to JSS 3 not withtheir infantile vituperations and Baba Suwe logic about NCAA being autonomous hence does not fall under the purview or oversight of the Minister of Aviation

The fact is that there is a cap as to the level of expenditure that any government agency or parastatal can embark upon without corresponding okay/remark/assent of that agency's supervising or superitending Minister!

To those who are naïve to say NCAA purely acted on their own whims may I ask who is that person there starting, from the DG to the Directors whose work is sooooo important and life seemingly threatened that would make them buy $1.6million 2 Nos of Armoured BMW Cars for??

if all DGs of all the over 500 agencies and parastatals of Govt all decide to copy that of NCAA assuming the cars are for him, then what kind of cars will their ministers use

The DG of NCAA can never buy those cars with the intention to use them by himself

The bottom line is that someone from on high authorised that transaction

Dead Heat in Delta Central Senatorial Race

GLADIATORS: Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Ede Dafinone and O'tega Emerhor¨

There is no gainsaying the fact that Delta Central senatorial zone has, in the last couple of weeks, become the focus for political observers not only in Delta State, but in Nigeria. The attention has been generated by the ongoing campaign by the candidates of different political parties desirous of winning the Delta Central senatorial seat, for which the by-election is scheduled to hold tomorrow.

The by-election became necessary following the death of Senator Pius Akpor Ewherido, who won the seat in 2011 as the only member of the Democratic People's Party (DPP) in the red chamber of the National Assembly. He died on June 30.

However, some hours to the electoral battle, the Delta Central political arena has witnessed such unprecedented flurry of activities and horse-trading, which are disorganising earlier predictions and permutations by analysts on the outcome of the contest.

The earlier consensus that the race would be a contest involving Ede Dafinone of the DPP, Emmanuel Aguariavwodo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and O'tega Emerhor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to be changing.

Indeed, at the end of the formal launch of the campaigns by the three candidates regarded as the main contestants in the race as at yesterday, the race appears now to have further narrowed down to a two-horse affair.

General forecasts have suddenly tilted victory in favour of either Aguariavwodo or Emerhor, though some seem to be cautious about the relatively new line of thought, citing the larger-than-life image of the leader of the DPP in the state, Chief Great Ovadje Ogboru, alias "The People's General."

The defection of Ogboru's running mate in the 2011 governorship election, Chief Fidelis Tilije, to APC is believed to have shored up the rating of the APC and its candidate. Tilije is regarded as one of the longstanding political associates of Ogboru.

Tilije formally decamped, last Monday at Effurun, into the APC, thus buoying the support threshold of Emerhor's chances. Although Tilije is from Obiaruku, neighbouring town to Abraka, which is outside the Delta senatorial district, some believe this might not affect his possible effect on the campaign. Tilije and Emerhor were both bankers.

Also, a one-time staunch member, Chief Frank Kokori, who had joined the late Ewherido in the APC merger process, also spoke glowingly about Emerhor and actually described the DPP as a "political orphan."

The launch of the APC candidate’s campaign turned out to be a gathering of political heavyweights as it was witnessed by such dignitaries as the governors of Edo and Imo States, Adams Oshiomhole and Rochas Okorocha, respectively; the party's Vice Chairman, South-south, Chief Tom Ikimi; a former senator representing Delta Central, Prof Adego Eferakeya; and the interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, among others.

It is generally believed that the greatest strength of the APC candidate is the fact that Emerhor is believed to have "inherited" the strong political structure of the late Ewherido.

Moreover, he is believed to remain one of the most consistent supporters of the Urhobo cause and has shown commitment to issues like youth empowerment and community development projects organised by the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU). He is believed to have used his entrepreneurial acumen to empower many Urhobos through job offers and appointments.

His swift reconciliation with aggrieved aspirants in the aftermath of the party's primaries is seen as one of the strong factors that has enhanced the renowned banker's senatorial campaign.

Political observers point out that as one of the front runners, Emerhor could not be intimidated or written off in this exclusive race of eminent Urhobo sons.

Ahead of the by-election, there appears to be an understanding that it is the turn of the Ughelli federal constituency to produce somebody to occupy the seat which death forced Ewherido to vacate.

Emerhor and Aguariavwodo hail from Ughelli North and Ughelli South, respectively. There seems to be a strong sentiment that a candidate from the area where Ewherido hailed from should succeed him in the Senate.

On the other hand, Dafinone of the DPP is from Sapele in the Okpe axis of the senatorial zone. His support flame which shone bright a few days ago, appears to be burning low now, given the body language of the people and leaders in the district.

As for Aguariavwodo, his chances remain bright given the support he enjoys as the candidate of the ruling party in the state and at the federal level and the fact also that he is the only candidate from Ughelli South Local Government Area, where the late Ewherido hailed from.

The soaring support for both Emerhor and Aguariavwodo however does not knock out Dafinone from the race.

Investigations by THISDAY showed that in the eight local government areas that comprise the senatorial district, each of the three candidates has his support base and the extent of the support will determine who wins the election.

Support for Aguariavwodo is strong in Ughelli South and Ethiope West Local Government Areas.

On his part, Emerhor dominates Ughelli North and Udu Local Government Areas.

Dafinone enjoys support of people in Ethiope East and Okpe Local Government Areas.

However, the situation in Sapele and Uvwie Local Government Areas is too close to call and victory there could swing the way of any of the candidates.

In Sapele Local Government Area, the race is between the DPP and PDP candidates, while in Uvwie Local Government Area, it is a contest between the DPP and the APC candidates.

But who wins tomorrow will depend on the turnout of voters in the local government areas.

HOW THEY STAND TODAY

Leaning towards DPP

Leaning towards PDP

I just watched Ngige flag-off on TVC now! Let the truth be told the turnout was Massive

As for him holding it on Ofala day, that I can't tell

But let's be true to ourselves, why are anti-Ngige lot using innanities and baseline irrelevant stuff to smear an obviously well loved man??

I thought by now his popularity should have waned owing to financial misappropriation or dismal performance when he was a governor earlier. But all I have seen is an attempt by Peter Obi to fight dirty rather than engage Ngige with his own outgoing performance
