With the rate at which we record Gas/Petrol filling station explosion in this country, I dont know why DPR gives permit/approval to locate these stations in environments that does not meet the standard. There is an ongoing Gas Plant under construction owned by Heritage filling Station (former AP ) along Iwofe road Portharcourt, this same filling station had an explosion just few weeks ago and it was posted here on nairaland, they are busy building a Gas Plant in an area occupied by residents and DPR is to be blamed for this.
My worry is that DPR approved a Gas Plant in a location that residents have been occupying for years. The Gas plant is along the road which is just opposite the filling station that got burnt just few weeks ago, on both sides of the Gas Plant is a school building under renovation and a residential building respectively, that have been there for years and directly behind is an Estate of over 15 flats. My question is that, does this meet the standard? Why would DPR give approval for such a location. DPR should always put safety first before brown envelopes.
