As I was reading this post, I just felt someone. Why would you think of such to ur wife and kids because of a journey which you don't knw where it will lead. Telling your wife to look for another husband because you r going abroad, u want to shatter her whole life because you think that's the best for you. Do you even knw if all this worked out for you because of the wife and children grace. At least let be human, if they can follow you it's fine, we have seen plenty people of such but you should not run away from your responsibility. Were u forced to marry her? Or you don't love her before. Think twice about any decision you want to take, no one knows tomorrow.

A friend of mine got PhD offer in the US. He has families and 2 kids. Since these kids will probably constitute nuisance and won't allow him to focus on his studies, can he forget about his family in Nigeria and tell his wife to find another husband? Going to the US is a big achievement and nothin should come in the way of that. Most times, it's better to forget about your parents in Nigeria and move anyways. That way you won't get bogged down with their issues while trying to figure your life abroad

It was a mistake mentioning your husband who is a US citizen. My advice is: do not change your story of having a relative in the US because the VO would have noted it down as a reason for your denial. It will be dicey to tell another VO something different cos they always see whatever comment previous VO makes. You can also be lucky that the next VO will not ask you anything about it. You can reapply but have a story of what you intend to do after your program and show commitment to coming back to Nigeria to execute it. Good luck!!!

I went for my F1 interview on Monday but I was denied.
Firstly, I will like to share my story. I got a full funding scholarship with a TA for PhD in chemistry. While filling the Ds160 , I answered yes to question about any relative in the US which is my husband and a citizen. On the interview day after questions abt my studies, the vo asked abt relative in the us, asked few questions regarding my marriage and then I was denied. I want to try if I could be lucky to reapply for spring again but I have some questions troubling me.
My questions are;
1. Do they keep previously filled DS160 information? I am thinking if in my next application I should put no for relative in the US. I know anyone can say why not in the first time, BT my husband thinks it can affect later if he want to file for me
2. What is my chance of getting approved if I reapply again?
I know people can say why not file instead but it take nothing less than 2years coupled with the fact DAT I want to pursue my PhD.

Please I need people suggestions on this.Thanks

It was painful as I was denied my student visa yesterday because I put in the application that my husband is a citizen. All what we thought is we think its a faster means to come to the us aside with the fact that I want to pursue my PhD before. Now I missed my opportunity of a full funding scholarship and TA.
