why exactly is it that most stories as these are heard in motherland Africa?

Ghost stories dont only exist in Africa cuz i have seen a similarly issue of ghost on bristish tv. The story was about a woman who lives not too far from a cemetery, she said 2weeks after her mum's death that, something wuld move from where she had kept it and she said it happens to her everyday.
