Nigeria is not ready for electric cars let's be honest.

In Abuja I saw someone charging Tesla with Firman generator on a roadside cos he ran out of battery
Bros you dey lie abeg. The size of generator required to provide enough power to charge a Tesla cannot be easily carried to the roadside.

More reason why I am asking how do I go about this?
Now that spot is booked. What next,?

Do I need to wait for a call from the team?
I have no idea how to go about this.
No email. Nothing from the team at all.
Now, you wait.
But for how long? No one knows except for Starlink.
Email and calls will not do anything to speed up the process.

Don’t force it as it will self-orient itself when connected to power. Besides why put it face down?

I got a 22U rack over the weekend for about 275k (which seem to be the common price in computer village lagos) an 18U should be slightly cheaper. I would find the contact of the seller and post it.
Oh please do! Very much appreciated. Thanks.

Good evening,
Looking for where to get a sturdy standard 19" server rack.
The ads on Jiji in Lagos are deceptive and nothing to write home about.
If anybody has a source or sells, kindly quote me please; something like 18U
Thank you

Has anyone experienced this before? The router suddenly reset the name and password and went back to "starlink" open.
Consecutive power failure within a very short time frame; and router will reset to factory settings.

Broooo! Magical.
Wetin you go come do with old starlink na? Will it be disconnected? Why did they choose the option of changing everything instead of just giving you new router
You will have to return it. Or you'll get charged for it. They already provide some shipping documents.
Print them, attach to previous one and drop at the nearest DHL facility for free.

true, we are really poor in nigeria. I earn 900k as a software engineer a month which is just 600 dollars. For me to save 20k canadian dollars to afford masters will take me 3 years. Plus cost of food is so high. I have to double think before i make any spending
Quite sad. For the most part yes; but there's still hope; because some SWE will save that same 20k cad in 3mths max.
Take this as motivation.

Quick question for all the gurus in the house...

I'm seriously looking at changing to lithium batteries. My challenge is the cost. I've also seen people advice that you can start small and add more later.

My questions are

1. Can multiple brands be coexist? for example, if i get a good deal on a 10kwh felicity battery today, and a deal on a 10kwh blue carbon tomorrow, can I add them?

2. can multiple power capacities coexist? say I can only afford 5kwh today, and tomorrow i'm able to buy 10 or 15kwh, can I add them together? or will I be stuck with 5kwh increments?

3. What's the maximum period between such additions? if I buy a lithium battery today, Can I add another maybe in a year or two? for tubular batteries, people usually say that it's not advisable.

Thank you.
I can authoritatively tell you that from research, if you go for premium brands, you can always add (even a different) capacity later in the future; because even 2years is nothing, as long as you didn't abuse them i.e. overwrite their default (or recommended) usage settings. But for mixing different brands; don't try it. not recommended even for lead-acid batteries. My 2cents.

Get off your high horse, son. You're not the only one using Starlink not you're the only one using nairaland. This thread is open to Nairalanders and visitors and has influenced a lot of people to get starlink, and they started from page 1, so it's ok to ask those questions before going ahead to purchase.

This thread is 50+ pages long. It's normal for people to ask since the free subscription was probably mentioned in the first few pages.

Me sef thought I'd get free subscription too when I got mine around July last year.
Take, drink cold water. Oya hold your ears and listen. Funnily, Starlink spells it out just before you add your card,
but trust people not to read the fine prints; typical of Nigerians. if there were any running promos, it would be clearly visible on the site; as the current 440k price slash now. Once again, anything that happened T minus 1 is inconsequential for an adult human with functional thinking capacity.

Send back the new cable?
You are advised to replace everything completely, router and cables (data cable, power cable), with the new lot.
Well except for the stand (base) cos' that one is purely mechanical & in my case is permanently fixed; cannot be removed without significant damage.

People wey Parapet dey their house, how una take pass the cable?
In my case, from roof into a trunk down the side of the building to ground floor. The into drilled hole; out the sitting room tv console.
75foot cable finish; had only about 5 inches of slack left. The replacement Starlink is sending is coming with a 50-foot cable. I am still thinking of the magic to avoid paying 87k for a longer cable or relocating the router to the first floor.

Thanks, this the power station I tend to buy,

For those saying why would I turn off my solar when I'm not at home, I don't understand should I leave my solar on if I'm out, spending a day or two outside, I leave alone, not married, nothing in my refrigerator

I will not be comfortable where I'm, when I'm going to spend the weekend outside, I turn off everything in my house. Money to buy the power station is not an issue, I just want to be sure if it can power it and not damage the hardware, and if the ecoflow power station can power it for like a day or two
LOL, you're probably scared your house don't catch on fire while you're not around. I would entertain that fear too if it was installed by a quack without essential protective devices. Many system in this same Nairaland has ran for many years unattended to and would only go off when it hit the low voltage disconnect which rarely happens. Asides that, it stays on forever even if no single soul was around for months. In fact, like that guy said, that is how it was designed to be. For example, I have security cameras and a home network; I don't see a situation where I would like to power it off for just a second.

Recently had the same issue where the dishy was taken as long as 20 to 25mins to successfully connect to a satellite. Starlink sent a replacement kit for free, and I have, in turn, dropped the old kit with DHL. Considering that I have had that kit since February last year, it's amazing the support I still enjoy from Starlink. No ISP in this country would support a customer like that.

Note that Starlink has had to replace my router for free twice previously as result of power surge, technical issues.
Yeah not forgetting the 1x free month credit.

Give it a trial! At your own risk as I will not be held liable if it doesn't work.

Koko254:
Please guy I recently purchased starlink internet
I need the best backup battery for it
Mind you I have a solar system, which I did for about 3million, 4 genus carbon tubular battery 230ah
Felicity 3.5k inverter and 60A Felicity controller

But I don't want to be turning on my solar all the time, I gave internet access to 2 neighbors and they will be pay for it 12k each month,

So I need a backup battery for the starlink, a backup battery that can last upto 3 or 4 hours just powering only the starlink, just incase I turn off my main solar system
If you have a "solar" system, then you should have power at all times.
I presume you don't have solar panels, yea?

COMPAQ:
To those that know about solar and inverters an stuff, is felicity a good brand?

I ask because their 15kwh battery is going for like N2.96mln. Meanwhile other brands have even their 5kwh or 7kwh battery at that same price or even slightly higher. So wondering how Felicity battery is that cheap. Or is it that the battery inside doesn't really provide 15kwh?
The straight answer is the battery capacity is overrated. Expect 80% true capacity.
Some have claimed they employ fairly-used cells; others have seen brand new cells in their setup.
Do I recommend? For the price point yea. If you budget allows for it, then go for premium ones e.g. Pylontech.
